Submachine gun PP-90М1 - the brainchild of Tula gunsmiths, which was released in the early 90-s of the XX century. The Instrument Design Bureau of the city of Tula received this profitable, at first glance, order from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, which posed a similar task to the designers of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant. There was one requirement - to create a domestic folding pistol - a machine gun by analogy with the American PP FMG (abbreviation in English, translated as "folding submachine gun"), which was produced by the company "Ares". Udmurt gunsmiths for some reason refused to fulfill the order, we are convinced that they did not want to create a competitive model for their product - PP-19 "Bison". In fairness it should be noted that this production of Izhevsk masters has a high rate of fire, provides an overwhelming density of fire contact during short-term combat operations at short distances. An incomparable plus of the Izhevsk model is the large capacity of the clip. And Tula released first PP-90, and soon a modernized PP -90 M (М1), which armed not only the operatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. So regular weapons the corresponding units of the GUO (the former 9 Directorate of the KGB of the USSR) and the FSB of the Russian Federation were supplied. In comparison with the Bison product, Izhevsk masters of small arms, Tula PP-90М1 has a more original design, which involves extensive use of plastic products, and also allows for the use of simple, cheaper versions of box-type stores using standard equipment, which simultaneously is also the aim of this product.

The automatic action of the product is based on the use of a free-type return energy of the shutter, the barrel channel is not locked during firing. In the position for firing from marching to martial position is given for 3-4 seconds due to the opening of the canister, in which the two leading units - the trunk box and the trigger are opened and connected into a single unit. Simultaneously with bringing these blocks into the shooting position, the handle of the submachine gun with the trigger hook and the holder is also deployed. For the production of a shot, it remains only to rearrange the fuse-flag and cock the shutter. If from PP-90 the fire is fired by single cartridges, then from PP-90М1 an additional fire is fired in automatic mode. Submachine gun PP-90M1 so well arranged and centered, that the moment of tipping in firing is minimized. The mechanical rear sight and front sight are made in a folding version, the sight for the preparation for firing into a combat position is set manually.

Delivery of PP-90М1 products to consumers is carried out in the following set: the product itself, two holders with an 30 capacity for cartridges, a bag for carrying the product, technical documentation and wiping. Installation on the product of devices for silent use and a flame arrester is allowed. In the traveling state, PP-90М1 is in “RAM” - the use of the option of concealed carrying of weapons.
The use of submachine gun PP-90М1
This product is designed for the use of Russian 9mm cartridges 7H21 and 7H31 (9x19mm PBP) of high power with armor piercing bullets. It is also possible to use standard 9x19mm Parabellum or 9mm NATO patches. Thus, the 7H31 bullet “pierces” steel sheet with 10 mm thickness at a distance of 10 m. which is above the muzzle of the barrel. This would be understandable when assembling a product for concealed carrying of weapons and instant production for firing, but the lever of the safety mechanism protruding from the right side and other design features do not lead to such conclusions.
