Type 89 - the main machine gun of Japan Ground Forces
16
The automatic machine is developed by the Japanese firm Howa Machinery Company Ltd. The basis lay rifle AR-18. The rifle replaced the Type 64 rifle.
Type 89 automation is based on the discharge of powder gases from the barrel, locking is done by turning the bolt on the 7 lugs. The gas piston consists of two parts: a head located in front and having a smaller diameter relative to the gas cylinder, and a more massive piston body located approximately in the middle of the cylinder. Due to this, the energy transfer from the powder gases to the piston occurs in two stages, which contributes to a smoother operation of the mechanisms and reduction of their wear.
The machine is equipped with a slide delay, the corresponding button is located on the left. USM allows firing single and continuous queues, it is possible to install USM with an additional shooting mode with fixed turns on the cartridge's 3. Fuse-translator is located above the pistol grip on the right. Handguards made of aluminum, on top of which are plastic lining.
The machine is equipped with a folding biped bipod. A bayonet can also be mounted, and rifle grenades can be thrown from the barrel. The shops used on 30 cartridges are identical in design to the STANAG stores, but have holes to the left to control the ammunition consumption. Began to release with 1989 year. Weight 3,5 kg. Length 916 mm. Caliber 5,56 * 45mm.
