Attempt to create American "Kalashnikov" - submachine gun "Kriss Super V"
The creation of this type of American weapons was aimed at improving the accuracy and accuracy of shooting in automatic fire. America needed a little weapon for firing ammunition caliber .45 ACP, which have a high stopping power at short distances. The basis for creating a submachine gun taken the development of the French designer Renault Kerbra, working in the Swiss company «Gamma». This company owns the US company Transformational Defense Industries. "TDI" is committed to testing the experimental and the latest type of weapon.
Historical predecessor
The basis for the development of Renault Kerbra was taken pistol MC 3-1, developed by the Soviet master of sports in shooting P. Sheptarsky called "Record". In 54, Sheptarsky creates a self-loading pistol for use in various competitions when shooting at silhouette targets. The design of a small-caliber pistol was fundamentally different from the pistols used in competitions. The main difference is the location of the gun barrel parallel to the middle finger of the athlete, which has a positive effect on the use and production of shooting.
Increased accuracy of hits on the target, in addition, the mechanism of production of shooting was convenient for athletes adjustment.
Thanks to Tula designers Ferapontov, Nikiforov and Ochnev, who developed the design documentation, sketches and production technology, the pistol with the MC3 index “Record” was able to get into mass production.
The gun created a sensation in the sports society, it caused admiration and envy among the western shooters, which ultimately led to the fact that at the end of the 16 Olympic Games held in Melbrun, the technical commission of the international association of shooting sports imposed a restriction on the position of the gun barrel relative to the holding hand .
PP device
PP "Kriss Super V" has a design of automation with a semi-free motion shutter. Mechanisms of automation work with a special counterweight liner that moves almost vertically behind the neck of the store. The bolt tabs are joined in inclined slots of the special liner. When making a shot, the return of the shutter is specially slowed down by friction on the liner when it returns to its original state. This significantly reduces returns and improves accuracy of hits. The handle is located quite high from the axis of the barrel, but the upper part of the butt is flush with the axis of the barrel. This allowed us to add up the vector direction of recoil and the stubborn point of the submachine gun. All this, together with the semi-free action shutter, made it possible to minimize the recoil and toss the barrel when firing, only the firing rate of the PP spoils these achievements.
For more accurate and accurate shooting from the software "Kriss Super V", it was equipped with a butt, folding to the side, and detachable front handle.
Manufacturing options
The results of the first tests of the prototype of a submachine gun, carried out by TDI, showed excellent controllability in firing, good accuracy of hits and a reduced toss of the barrel in the production of automatic firing. These results suggest that the Kriss Super V software exceeds the well-known American HK UMP-45 and HKMP5.
The first version of a submachine gun with the name "Vector SMG" is intended for use in paramilitary structures, such as police units, special forces, armed forces. The submachine gun has a shortened barrel in centimeters 14 and is equipped with several options for the production of automatic firing.
The second option is called "Vector CRB / SO" and is intended for the civilian arms market. The submachine gun has a long barrel in 41 centimeters, since in the United States for short-barreled civilian weapons it is much harder to obtain a license to acquire and use. The barrel is equipped with a silencer simulator to add an aesthetic look to the submachine gun. Civilian PP has the ability to conduct only semi-automatic shooting. Also available with a short barrel for the civilian market under the name "Vector SBR / SO". All software "Kriss Super V" equipped with Picatinny rail, located on top of the receiver. This will allow the use of various accessories.
The machine gun magazine is compatible with the Glock 21, the standard 13 ammunition capacity, the elongated magazine has an 30 ammo capacity.
Basic data of the software package "Kriss Super V":
- caliber 0.45 ACP and 0.40 S&W;
- height 17.5 centimeters;
- length 62 cm;
- weight 2 kilogram;
- rate of fire adjustable from 800 to 1500 in / min.
- sighting range 45 meters.
Additional Information
The cost of one PP is equal to 1500-2000 dollars, depending on the version.
An attempt to create a massive and inexpensive submachine gun failed. The US military did not see any distinctive features in the Kriss Super V software. All analogues are inferior to him in many ways. But having taken it into service with the main personal weapons, it could easily get spread, like the Soviet Kalashnikov, because, in fact, they have much in common - increased reliability, unpretentiousness and high striking figures.
