Spartan Armored Car

Spartan (Spartan) - 4x4 armored car, built on the DRW chassis of a commercial Ford F550 SUV by Canadian Streit Manufacturing. This company has extensive experience in booking production cars, including executive class, such as MERCEDES S550, BMW 7 SERIES and many others. Production lines of the company are in the United Arab Emirates, USA, Russia, India.

The armored car (or as the manufacturer calls the City Assault Machine) Spartan APC was designed for armed rapid response teams as protected vehicles, for those who have to use it on narrow city streets. This car is also used for road transport or escort vehicles.

Unlike armored civilian vehicles, such as the LandCruiser or Suburban, the Spartan is designed for firing in combat situations. This car is built taking into account combat standards and military application and is very effective when escorting vehicles. However, when it is necessary to exclusively patrol or use in remote urban areas, where conventional combat vehicles are usually not effective, the Spartan can be as maneuverable as any car, and have accelerating characteristics that are lacking in paramilitary vehicles. and maintenance. Spartan has armored anti-rifle protection. weapons level B6, as well as the bottom, able to withstand the explosion of anti-personnel mines or grenades. Protection can be brought to the level ВХNUMX at the request of the customer.

The Spartan dual-use nature makes it an excellent choice for those users whose missions can vary from day to day, and ensures that their combat missions can be completed without having to change cars.

One of the users is the Kosovo police in Pristina. According to some reports, each machine with a turret cost them half a million Euros at the selling price of the standard version of $ 190000. Also signed a contract for the supply of Spartan police UAE.

Booking and Security
The standard cabin has been completely replaced by a specially designed upgraded armored cabin protecting the passenger compartment on five sides from 7,62 x 51mm, M80 bullets. The reservation was successfully tested and meets the ballistic protection level III according to the NATO standard NIJ-STD-0108.01. The bottom is able to protect passengers from the effects of an explosion when two German DM-51 hand grenades or their equivalent from light anti-personnel mines are detonated. The body of the car is fully encapsulated and provides protection for passengers in all their places. Armor consists of welded ballistic structural steel. Specific materials and special installation methods used by Streit Manufacturing can significantly reduce the cost of the car for the client while maintaining structural integrity and a ballistic level of protection, as well as optimizing the center of gravity position, which provides very good maneuverability for a car of this kind. The inner frame is made of ballistic steel, provides overlap and backup protection for a large area of the main areas of influence, such as doors and windows. It also enhances the structural integrity of the support struts and other areas that are critical to maintaining vehicle safety in all situations, including rollover and collisions. Reservation of the car was constructed so that the bullet, following a linear or angular trajectory, did not penetrate into the car without contact with armor. In addition to this, the possibility of bullet penetration into the vehicle interior due to rebound from armor is minimized.

Glass
The combination of glass, polycarbonate and Mylar, combined together using the latest technology has created one of the best available transparent armor, while having the following qualities: 39 mm glass thickness (tested for protection against several shots of 7,62 XXNMX mm ammunition); anti-spall shield that protects the driver and passengers from glass fragments; shock protection; excellent optical quality, minimal distortion; minimal delamination; minimal discoloration from ultraviolet rays. All external glass is protected from the effects of stones, bottles, grenades, etc., covering the steel mesh can be removed by the user to clean and / or replace the glass.

Doors
The doors (2 on the sides and 2 at the back) are specifically designed for quick access to the car, minimizing the exposure of the interior. All doors have a double locking system to ensure the closure of the car’s doors in a combat situation in the event of failure of one of the locking systems. Automobile doors have loopholes located directly under the glass in order to fire from any seat. All doors have armored ceilings to prevent the penetration of bullets and shrapnel through the junction of the door and the body. Door racks and hinges have been designed specifically for this car, which ensures maximum durability and ease of use. All doors have a special edging to prevent external climatic influences on the car.

Interior
All original interior trim and trim were removed from the car, except for the front panel and the seats. These parts were changed at the factory to fit the new car body style, and were left in place to provide the driver with comfort and familiarity. All other interior components were installed according to the design of the designers in order to ensure maximum operational functionality.

Additional features
An additional 360 degrees pivot tower, providing 3-s NIJ level of protection, including enhanced visibility ballistic glass. Machine gun installation for placing weapons of caliber up to 12.7 mm.

Features of combat readiness
The car's front bumper is designed to reduce collision damage. In addition, the entire front of the car is made of ballistic steel, ensuring that the car can maintain structural integrity in a moderate collision. The heavy rear bumper is attached directly to the frame, which allows the car to withstand the impact of other vehicles and / or clear the way if necessary to evacuate the escorted object. The car has a full view in 360 degrees through the windows, and each window has a weapon loophole located directly below. This ensures passengers the opportunity to return fire from all sides of the car, while not leaving the armor protection. The car is equipped with tires with inserts for driving in a flat tire (2 spare wheels are located in the passenger compartment). The cabin is equipped with an electronic two-way communication system that provides communication between the passengers of the car and beyond.
