Zelenodolsk Gorky Plant: from special-purpose boats to patrol ships
Over the past five years, the volume produced by Zelenodolsk plant named after A.M. Gorky products increased threefold. The state defense order (GOZ) plays a significant role in this progress. In this sense, the Zelenodolsk enterprise today is one of the most prolific shipyards in Russia. The series of ships being built at the factory are quite reasonable to be called mass for these times. These are special purpose boats of the 21980 project, small rocket ships of the 21631 project, and today an order has been added to them - in many ways, the new type of ship for Russia of the 22160 project.
BUILDING A NEW Fleet
The volume of JSC “Zelenodolsk Plant named after A.M. Gorky "(part of JSC" Holding Company "Ak Bars") for the state defense order work is impressive. First, this year the enterprise will hand over the floating floating dock of the 22570 “Sviyaga” project (the author of the project is St. Petersburg “TsMKB“ Almaz ”JSC) for the Main Directorate of Deep-Sea Research (GUGI) of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. This order should be a landmark for the plant, for Russian shipbuilding, and for the Navy. Such products in our country have not been built since Soviet times.
Secondly, the next four special-purpose boats of the 21980 project are being built (developed by Nizhny Novgorod OJSC Vimpel Commercial Bank). Modern equipment and high seaworthy characteristics allow these boats to solve a wide range of tasks peculiar to ships of a higher class. Among other things, boats are equipped with electronic weapons and means of detecting underwater objects. With this project, the plant works with 2008, and today already seven boats are on combat duty as part of the Russian Navy (note that some of them guarded the Olympic Sochi). The eighth and ninth boats laid this year, and this is not the end of the series. The demand for the project is explained by the need to strengthen the protection of Russia's naval bases.
Thirdly, two small rocket ships of the 21631 project (developed by Zelenodolsk Design Bureau), the Green Doll and the Serpukhov, are preparing to send to the customer. There are four more IRCs on the stocks: “Vyshniy Volochek”, “Orekhovo-Zuyevo”, “Ingushetia”, “Grayvoron”. Recall the decision to build a series of data ships made in August 2002 year. 17 May 2010 The Zelenodolsk plant won the tender and 26 May signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense for the construction of five ships. As it is known today, in total twelve such IRAs will be built. Currently, three of them - the head "Grad Sviyazhsk" and serial "Uglich" and "Veliky Ustyug" are serving in the Caspian flotilla. Note that the "Green Dol" and "Serpukhov" will be the firstborn of the 21631 project on the Black Sea. Today, the Black Sea Fleet is perhaps the top priority in terms of equipping the Russian Navy. Six of the twelve such ships will serve there. In addition, it is officially announced that 6 patrol ships of the 22160 project, which are also being built at the Zelenodolsk plant named after A.M. Gorky. And about this project it is necessary to tell in more detail.
FIRST IN RUSSIA
The lead patrol ship of the 22160 project (developed by the Petersburg-based Severnoye Design Bureau) was laid out at the Zelenodolsk plant named after A.M. Bitter February 26 2014.
In peacetime, the task of the patrol ship of the 22160 project is to protect (guard and defend) areas of Russia's maritime economic activity and navigation, as well as to represent the Russian naval flag in remote areas of the World Ocean. In the military - ensuring the combat sustainability of the forces and facilities of the fleet during the defense of home areas, sea lanes and areas of maritime economic activity within the near sea zone.
The main features of the 22160 project are as follows. Displacement - no more than 1700 m, length - about 90 m, maximum width - about 15 m, draft overall - about 4 m. Full speed - not less than 27 nodes, cruising range - not less than 6 thousand miles, autonomy - not less than 60 days. Armed with a patrol ship X-NUMX-mm AK-76,2MA artillery, 176-mm Kord mobile machine guns, Igla-S portable anti-aircraft missile systems, a DP-12,7-type remote grenade launcher and DP-65 hand-held grenade launchers. Assessing the composition of weapons, experts note a kind of representative status of the patrol ship - at first glance, it cannot strike or fight off a serious enemy, but it will show the flag and replace in peacetime with more heavily armed "colleagues." For example, today the Navy is forced to use its surface ships of the main classes for anti-piracy tasks, wasting their lifespan. The emergence of specialized and relatively cheap patrol ships with reduced combat performance will allow the Navy to release warships to solve their specialized tasks. In fact, we are facing the strengthening of the role of the Navy as a state instrument capable of helping to solve political tasks of a strategic scale. A patrol ship is not only escorting and covering larger ships, but also patrolling international waters, ensuring presence, displaying a flag and naval diplomacy.
Initially, it was announced that six patrol ships would be built in Zelenodolsk before 2020 (the headquarters should be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2016, the first serial ship is now being built), but today it is known that there will be at least 12.
The 22160 project has already aroused interest among potential foreign buyers. This was evident at the recent Malaysian 13-th International Exhibition of aerospace and naval equipment LIMA 2015.

A reasonable question arises: will the Zelenodolsk plant named after A.M. Gorky with all this large-scale construction of the state defense order? Experts are sure that they will cope, because such a number of orders is not accidental - the fleet is guided by those enterprises that it trusts.
