In the wake of IDEX 2015

Poly Technologies 07PD machine with four containers with PA01 ATGS ready for launch

For the first time outside of China, an armored vehicle 07PD 8x8 manufactured by Poly Technologies, equipped with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) turret, was shown in a ready-to-launch configuration. These missiles are guided by a laser beam and have a tandem warhead for hitting targets with dynamic protection systems. They have a maximum range of 10 km and a circular probable deviation of less than a meter. Between the two containers PUTR installed day / night sighting system.

The rocket itself is designated PA02-MA and can be launched not only from ground mobile platforms, but also from a stationary launcher or helicopters.

The 07PD 8x8 chassis is also used for a number of other options, such as an armored personnel carrier, a 120-mm mortar and self-propelled artillery. In the latter case, a three-seat turret with an 105-mm rifled gun and an 7,62-mm machine gun coupled to it is installed on this chassis.

The Chinese company Poly Technologies is also marketing its automated high-maneuverable missile system PA01. It is based on the BNR platform 6x6 and is very similar to the widespread WZM551 / WZ551 machine manufactured by China North Industries Corporation.

A container with 12 rockets is installed in the back of the case. In the stowed position, it is placed in the body, but before the launch of the rocket rises in a vertical position. The “intelligent” high-precision rocket PA01-GA from Poly Technologies has a starting mass of about 100 kg and a maximum range of 40 km.

It is declared that PA01-GA is capable of attacking stationary and moving land and sea targets and is equipped with an armor-piercing high-explosive warhead. It is assumed that the rocket has a guidance system installed on the march segment of the trajectory, which consists of an inertial navigation system and a satellite communication channel. The rocket uses an optoelectronic infrared homing head installed in the forward part of the rocket’s trajectory.

These two missile systems are offered separately or as part of an integrated system for detecting, capturing and destroying targets developed by Poly Technologies. It can be customized to meet the specific requirements of the end user and also includes Drones, surveillance radar systems, operational control systems and 120 mm mortars firing laser-guided mines at a maximum range of 8 km.

Brazilian floating armored personnel carrier debuted at IDEX 2015

The floating BTR VBTP 6x6 is currently being manufactured for the Brazilian army

For the first time at IDEX, a floating armored personnel carrier VBTP 6x6 (Viatura Blindada Transporte de Pessoal - an armored vehicle for transporting personnel) was being produced for the Brazilian army under the name of Guarani.

VBTP was developed by Iveco Defense Vehicles in close cooperation with Iveco Brazil and the Brazilian army as a replacement for the ENGESA EE-11 6x6 BTR, developed many years ago. The Brazilian army has signed a contract worth 2 billion euros for 2044 machines; production is currently increasing and about 70 machines have been delivered today.

At the end of 2014, Iveco Defense Vehicles signed a contract with Lebanon to supply 80 vehicles for the military and police; This consignment includes 10 VBTP and 26 Light Multi-role Vehicle (LMV). VBTP vehicles will be shipped from a Brazilian production line, while LMV armored cars will come from the Italian line in the city of Bolzano.

VBTP has an all-welded body of armored steel with hinged armor to increase the level of protection; as a rule, he is armed with a remote-controlled module with a 30-mm cannon and a paired 7,62-mm machine gun. At IDEX, an unarmed BTR variant was shown with a crew of three and eight paratroopers. The Brazilian army will also deploy several specialized VBTP options, such as a sanitary unit and a command and control station.

In order to reduce the cost of the life cycle, commercial ready-made subsystems were used in VBTP, including the 9-liter Iveco FPT diesel engine with an HP 338 power, combined with an automatic transmission and transfer case. The VBTP machine is completely floating, driven in water by two propellers mounted on each side of the hull.

The company is also working on a version of the 8x8 with the 105-mm cannon to replace the EE-9 Cascavel armored vehicles in service with the Brazilian army.

France promotes a special forces vehicle to the Gulf countries

ACMAT Bastion PATSAS HM for special forces tested in real conditions in the French contingent in Chad

ACMAT, part of the expanded group of companies Renault Trucks Defense, presented at the IDEX 2015 exhibition its newest vehicle for special forces Bastion PATSAS HM 4xXNNUMX. Bastion has already worked in real conditions with the French contingent in Chad.

Bastion PATSAS HM is based on a proven ACMAT chassis and has an armored body that provides protection against small-arms fire. weapons, shell splinters and some types of mines and improvised explosive devices. Ballistic protection complies with STANAG 4569 3 level. The upper part of the machine is open to increase the level of situational awareness of the crew, with a tubular structure as standard for protection when turning over.

Like many special force machines, a set of weapons depends on the special requirements of the end user. The machine shown on IDEX was armed with an 12,7-mm M2 HB machine gun mounted on a support ring with a circular sector of fire.

The driver and the commander are sitting right in front of the engine compartment, they have bulletproof windows that fold forward on the hood, if they are not needed. The commander, as a rule, works with the 7,62-mm machine gun on a rotating support, two more supports for machine guns are installed on the back side.

Usually the total weight of the machine is approximately 13 tons. In addition to the driver and the commander in the car can accommodate three more people with weapons.

The abbreviation HM in the designation means "high mobility" - high mobility, since the Bastion PATSAS HM is equipped with a rather independent suspension, rather than traditional bridges. A diesel engine with a power 180 or 215 hp, which is connected to a manual or automatic transmission, is installed on the machine.

To carry out long-distance reconnaissance and raids in depth, large fuel tanks were installed, allowing a cruising range of up to 1200 km.

In addition to special forces vehicles, ACMAT also sold a significant number of fully enclosed vehicles in an armored personnel carrier version under the designation Bastion HM. This option has been sold to at least four countries in the Middle East region.

FGA 14.5 truck chassis for special applications

Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks has developed a FGA 14.5 (4x4) truck chassis for consumers who need high throughput and payload up to 8,5 tons

In addition to the actual production of a wide range of military trucks, Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks (a division of Daimler AG) also manufactures complete chassis with an engine for other contractors, who then install their bodies and cabins and various systems on this chassis. Cabins for military trucks, installed directly behind the engine compartment, can be armored or traditional.

The demand for high-capacity and heavy-duty vehicles led Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks to develop and begin production of the FGA 14.5 4x4 chassis. According to the company, FGA 14.5 is its first car without traditional incandescent bulbs, instead of them energy-saving LEDs are installed in the headlights. The chassis is fitted with a Mercedes-Benz OM 926 diesel engine with a power of 225 kW, which is connected to a fully automatic transmission with two different sets of gear ratios: the base and the increased cross-country ability.

Machines today need more electricity in order to cope with a variety of on-board equipment, such as air conditioning systems, airborne information and control systems, communications equipment and, in some cases, remotely controlled combat modules. To cope with this increased power consumption on the FGA 14.5 chassis, a generator is installed on the 355 Amp. The design of the FGA 14.5 chassis is such that it can accept a cabin with a crew and the corresponding subsystems with a maximum mass of 8,5 tons.

The design and manufacture of the chassis allows Mercedes-Benz Special Trucks to offer a very wide range of truck chassis for military and civilian tasks. The company continues to supply its UNIMOG chassis, which is used by a large number of manufacturers of end products.

For example, as a base of armored vehicles Dingo from Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, which are currently made for the German and foreign markets more 1000 pieces, used the chassis UNIMOG 4x4, while the version 6X6 is used for a foreign customer. The French company Nexter Systems installs its CAESAR 6 mm / 6 howitzer caliber on the UNIMOG 155x52 chassis.

The question is how high-quality ripped off.

From personal 10-year experience of working with the Chinese. As a rule, their copies are inferior to the originals in quality, but sometimes some things turn out better than the original. This is due to the fact that when creating the same rocket, the designer used the technologies and limitations that were available on that day. The Chinese copy when more advanced technologies already exist and using their product turns out better. Moreover, when creating a product, designers are always adjusted and they "cut corners", the Chinese are in no hurry when copying and eliminate the original bloopers. As a result, they sometimes get a better product than the original.

Is it possible to talk about all products or only export ones? I’m interested because I heard from many about small arms and recently I heard about shots for grenade launchers and sights - all this was of absolutely indigestible quality.

From personal experience of communicating with these very Chinese (about 4 years), they do not eliminate and do not cut anything. Often in their hands, a hi-tech turns into a hi like that! Sometimes this does not happen, and it turns out really weighty, but on condition: the eggs of a Chinese friend are clamped in the customer’s hand. Perhaps their MO is just such a customer ....

It’s a good target, it’s convenient to train with RPGs on such shooting - just a wall. The 6x6 chassis is controversial - the video shows how clumsy they are, no advantages (for this model) over the tracks in terms of mobility. I'm not saying that our BTR-80 is the top of perfection - but the BTR in the video sucks.

Unimog (German: Mercedes-Benz Unimog, from German: Universalmotorgerät [1] - universal transport device) is a family of universal German all-terrain vehicles for special use (there is a wide range of additional attachments) and transportation in extreme conditions. The first model was developed in 1945, mass-produced since 1949, and since 1951 production was absorbed by the Daimler-Benz concern, and all-terrain vehicles are produced under the Mercedes-Benz brand.

All the same, the contours of our armored personnel carriers do not give rest to the adversary. They copy and copy. And the floating armored personnel carrier is also in the topic, there is something to think about. Maybe you should not refuse from the armored personnel carrier completely and switch over to typhoons.

If you can still agree on the Chinese model 07PD, that the Chinese could borrow technical solutions implemented in Nimrod or Spike, and not only them, but also Russian ones often, although you definitely did not disassemble the Chinese ATGM in detail by nodes and schemes for comparison, but only declare something unfounded here, then regarding PA01-GA it’s a purely Chinese decision, try to compare by missile guidance methods or some general characteristics, and then say that this is a copy exactly with Israeli rockets, well, it's just demagogy
