BMP "Kurganets-25". Waiting for the first show

A few years ago, it was announced that this time in the Parade of Victory in Red Square will take part military equipment of several new types. A number of combat vehicles will be shown for the first time to the general public, which is the reason for the hype. Thus, it can have serious differences from a real BMP, although the common features of the real and drawn cars seem to coincide.
Although the development of the project "Kurganets-25" was launched in 2010 year, the details of it have not been published until now. At the disposal of the interested public there are only scattered messages about certain features of the project, as well as just one image of an unfinished BMP of the new model. For this reason, so far it is necessary to be content with only fragmentary official information and various assessments. Nevertheless, even in the conditions of such a lack of information, you can build versions and even carry out computer models of new technology.
At the moment we know the following. The goal of the Kurganets-25 project, being developed by the Kurgan Machine-Building Plant, is to create a universal armored platform suitable for use as a base for various types of equipment. First of all it is planned to create and put into service a middle class infantry fighting vehicle. In the future, based on the platform will be developed for other purposes, including command and staff, repair and evacuation, sanitary and other machines. The name of the project reflects the approximate combat weight of these machines - about 25 t.
In January, 2013, some features of the technical appearance of promising technology became known. Then the photo from the Kurganmashzavod workshop, where one of the prototypes of the new BMP was assembled, was made public. This photo did not differ in high quality, but allowed to draw conclusions about the main features of the armored hull, including its layout. It should be noted that all currently existing versions of the appearance of a promising infantry fighting vehicle are based precisely on a single photograph from the workshop.
The body of the new car is assembled from several rectilinear armor plates mated at different angles. Like the existing BMP-3, the Kurganets-25 should receive a frontal part of the hull, formed by several parts: the upper one with a large inclination to the vertical and two oblique lower ones. According to some reports, the new combat vehicle will have an increased level of side protection. For this, spaced booking is used, as well as additional mounted modules. An approximate appearance of such a booking can be seen on the images of a three-dimensional model, published by the site "Courage". The use of a V-shaped hull bottom, which should provide protection against explosive devices, was previously mentioned.

In this regard, the new equipment will probably be similar to the domestic infantry fighting vehicles of the first models or some foreign models. In front of the armored hull, with a shift to the starboard side, there will be an engine compartment. To his left there is a place to accommodate the driver. Behind the driver and the power plant there is a large amount of space for placing troops, weapons or special equipment.
The type and engine power of the new car remain unknown. Data on its approximate weight suggest that the engine will be used from 600 to 800 hp. With such a power plant, the machine can have acceptable mobility characteristics. So, the maximum speed on the highway is estimated at 70-80 km / h. The Kurganets-25 platform is based on a tracked chassis. The type of suspension is not yet known. A torsion or hydropneumatic independent suspension is likely to be used. It is believed that in the undercarriage will be seven road wheels on each side of the car. The drive wheels will be in the front of the hull, the guides in the stern.
Of great interest is the weapons of promising infantry fighting vehicles. Earlier it was repeatedly mentioned that this machine will receive a new combat module with remote control. The use of an uninhabited turret with weapons is expected to free up a certain amount inside the hull, which can be used to accommodate a landing force or additional ammunition. In addition, the removal of the main ammunition beyond the limits of habitable volumes should positively affect the survivability of the machine in combat conditions.
According to domestic media reports, the Kurganets-25 infantry combat vehicle will receive an Epoch combat module developed by the Tula Instrument Engineering Design Bureau. According to reports, this module is equipped with 30-mm 2А42 automatic cannon with 500 rounds of ammunition, a twin PKT machine gun with 2000 rounds of ammunition and a Kornet-EM missile system with attachments for four missile containers. It was reported on the development of shells for 30-mm guns with a programmable fuse, providing undermining the trajectory. In addition, there is information about the creation of a new set of sighting equipment, which will equip the module "Epoch".
In early March, it was reported that all work on the project "Kurganets-25" are going on in accordance with the schedule. To date, several experimental machines have been built, which in the near future should be put to the test.
