The long-awaited "Ash"
Just a few days ago - 13 of September - many specialists in military technology all over the world were literally shocked. In Russia, the construction of the first submarine cruiser K-329 “Severodvinsk” was completed. This nuclear submarine was built on the project "Ash".
Now “Ash” will first go to the open sea. Checking the boat will take place in the White Sea. And the first voyage with unusual attention is watched by many Russian military experts, as well as specialists from around the world. Which is not surprising, because it is precisely this voyage that will show the further development vector of the military fleet Of Russia. If during the voyage it becomes clear that the Yasen fully complies with all the requirements that modern standards impose on such submarines, then its exact copies will constitute the main force of the Russian submarine fleet in the coming years. It is planned to create a powerful fleet of eight submarines by 2020!
Itself story The construction of the nuclear submarine "Ash" is very interesting. Perhaps experts who follow military equipment in Russia and the world, remember that the construction of this boat began in the year 1993. Yes, it was then that orders were signed to begin construction and the boat was laid on the stocks of Sevmashpredpriyatiya. Then no one could have imagined that the creation of this masterpiece would be delayed for almost two decades.
The recent collapse of a mighty power, default, the destruction of the economy and industry - all this has affected the construction process. Many experts argue that the fact that the work was still going on is amazing in itself.
It is already known that about a year ago the construction of the second submarine from the “Ash” series was started. But only the results of the current voyage, in which the newly built giant is taking part, will show whether its younger brothers will become the main nuclear force of the modern Russian navy. In total, the test will take about two months. During this time, an experienced team will have to investigate to the smallest detail the ship they have come to in order to deliver a report upon arrival, which will decide the subsequent fate of all the boats of this series.
The armament of the first ship from the “Ash” series, called “Severodvinsk” (after the name of the city in which it was built), is really impressive. There really is everything that any fight, even with the most dangerous opponent, would be won. Among the weapons of the submarine "Severodvinsk" you can see the anti-ship complex P-800, equipped with 3M-55 missiles. Also present here are cruise missiles that can hit almost any ground target. Anti-ship missiles X-35 and strategic missiles X-101 are also available. Thus, the nuclear submarine "Severodvinsk", by chance, earned the title of the most armed submarine in the world. The most powerful missiles can successfully hit targets at a distance of up to five thousand kilometers! A total of twenty-four cruise missiles are on board, as well as eight torpedo-launch vehicles. Moreover, cruise missiles can carry both conventional and nuclear warheads. Therefore, if Severodvinsk really justifies all the hopes placed on it and over the next few years eight more submarines of this model will appear in the domestic fleet, they can become the most powerful core of the entire fleet, able to withstand any fleet of potential opponents.
Despite such powerful weapons, "Ash" compares favorably with any analogs also at an amazing speed. Full speed when moving under water is 31 knot, or almost 60 kilometers per hour, which is one of the best indicators to date.
The total length of the submarine is 120 meters. Its displacement is 9500 tons. The maximum immersion depth is up to six hundred meters. With such powerful weapons and speed, the crew is rather small - only eighty-five people.
The fact that all the weapons that will be installed on the nuclear submarine has already passed the tests, and quite successfully, is also encouraging. It looks especially nice against the background of the Bulava, which they wanted to equip with new strategic submarines of the Yuri Dolgoruky type.
But, even if the test is really successful, there remains a reason to think seriously about the future of the Yasen submarines, the reason being their cost. The first boat cost the state 50 billion rubles. However, the construction of the second will have to spend about 110 billions. Experts say that this is a consequence of the rise in price of electricity, metals, and the services of professional welders. Thus, if 8 nuclear-powered nuclear-powered submarines of the Ash class are built, at least a trillion rubles will be spent. And this amounts to five percent of the total amount that is planned to be spent on the development of military equipment in Russia before 2020.
