"MALD-J" - a new defense of US combat aircraft
US military arsenal will be replenished in the near future weapons. This new development of American scientists will almost completely be able to protect a combat aircraft during military operations. This is a small aircraft munition called "MALD-J", produced by the company "Raytheon", which will be in service with fighters and bombers.
The main goal of this development is radio-electronic warfare with airplanes and enemy anti-air defense at long distances. "MALD-J" acting autonomously and simulating an aircraft, can be confusing any air defense system.
The new weapon is a small winged module that will be installed on board the aircraft for launch into the air when entering the air defense zone or when enemy aircraft appear. After launch, the device operates autonomously, facilitating the work of the pilot, who no longer needs to use the old methods of electronic warfare. The new development, in comparison with the old analogues, does not reveal the location of the aircraft and, acting independently without danger to the pilot, can penetrate deep into the enemy and cause strong damage to the work of communication systems.
After numerous successful tests and inspections, even under almost combat conditions, MALD-J showed excellent results and was fully operational. The tests were carried out with several aircraft at the same time when launching several vehicles. Mass production is expected at the end of this year, but the basic version of the new development is already being manufactured and is able to greatly harm any air defense today, imitating US and NATO fighters.
Some B-52 bombers have already replenished their weapon lists with new MALD vehicles. One such module weighs no more than 140 kg, has the ability to program for various types of missions and a range of nearly a thousand kilometers. Thus, one strategic bomber with a new development can mislead the entire enemy air defense, simulating simultaneously up to 140 fighters.
New weapons have advanced one more step forward in the development of electronic warfare. In the future, according to the plan of American scientists, the model “MALD-V” will be developed. This model, having an empty compartment, will allow the installation of any cargo, from various reconnaissance vehicles to warheads.
