Four aircraft engines or six. What's better?

4

The presence in the aircraft of only one engine will not be able to protect it from serious consequences that may arise at any moment. That is why in all commercial aircraft installed at least two, three, or even four engines. For some reason, this and stop. In the latest model of the Oliver VTOL aircraft, six independent engines are used that have the ability to change the angle of inclination. This means that this unit has a high degree of reliability and has the ability to make vertical takeoff and landing.

Let’s understand why it’s so persistent in the past aviation engineer Richard Oliver, who is also the founder of Oliver VTOL, in his belief that having six engines and three wings, the aircraft has many advantages over standard models of modern aircraft. Based on the calculations and mathematical modeling, this aircraft will maintain its normal maneuverability even if one of the engines fails, and it can also “lose” one whole wing, and even this allows it to reach its destination, which means , and deliver the transported goods there. This is true for devices with six engines, while the failure of one of the four engines does not leave the possibility of a normal continuation of the flight.

The model of the aircraft with six engines is already ready on paper and can be used. However, the creators of the company Oliver VTOL faced the problem of finding the amount of 12 million dollars, which will create an exact copy of the prototype of such an aircraft, which will be based on the finished fuselage from the aircraft Piaggio Avanti, and which will take 2 year.

The fact is obvious that the first customers who bought such a plane, equipped with six engines, will be the American military, since they are already interested in this project. This is not surprising, since the capabilities of the Oliver VTOL aircraft will allow it to lift into the air the same cargo as the Bell V-22 Osprey, the only difference is that the new aircraft, flying farther and faster, will spend much less fuel.

The plans of the company Oliver VTOL also includes the creation of a civilian version of the aircraft, which will be six engines. Only its cost is quite high and will be available only to a small number of people, despite the fact that it is distinguished by its speed and efficiency.

but it’s better to put immediately 20 pieces for safety wink and curious how many engines eat fuel?

From a purely educational point of view, the article is of interest, from a technical point of view - a blank shot. The B-52 "Stratofortress", which has 8 turbojet engines, has been in service with the US Air Force since 1955.

And IT actually flies somewhere other than a computer simulator? And why only six engines, why not eight or ten smile ?
In my opinion, this Oliver VTOL is another American sharashkin office designed to siphon money out of American taxpayers for another "promising project."
