The fruit of mutual love between Uralvagonzavod and the Ural Bureau of Transport Engineering is the first tank support combat vehicle in its class. The official name is like a Soviet haircut, honest to God: "Ramka-99". However, the military quickly renamed the new product "Terminator" - it is more respectable and much more accurately conveys the purpose of the vehicle. The power of its armament is devastating: here you have cannons and four launchers for anti-tank missiles. missiles, and a machine gun, and automatic grenade launchers. The BMPT can fire nine hundred 30-mm shells, six hundred 30-mm grenades and two thousand 7,62-mm bullets per minute, and the ammunition is enough to burn out all living things on an area of 3 square kilometers. Needless to say, the BMPT missiles penetrate the armor of any tank and concrete bunkers at a distance of up to 5 km, and can also shoot down a helicopter and even a low-flying enemy aircraft. Well, the AG-17D grenade launchers with a hovering grenade flight trajectory ensure the destruction of targets in trenches in a zone of up to 1 km.
Start developing BMPT military forced the changed conditions of warfare. Previously, we naively prepared for some kind of global confrontation of tank armadas, but now life compels us to fight with partisans or militants. You probably remember what losses we had in tanks and BMPs during the storming of Grozny in 1995 year. When any building serves as an ideal shelter for a grenade launcher, the tank does not last long. So, it is necessary to give him something to help him, which would quickly and often solve the walls of houses, turning them into mincers of enemies hiding behind them. It would be nice to cover this “something” with reliable armor. Based on such considerations, the designers created the “Frame” based on the famous T-90 tank, providing it with a multi-fuel engine for a thousand “horses”. It is impossible to get away from the “Frame” even in potholes: a car rushing at a speed of 60 km / h jumps over three-meter-long ditches and crawls easily through one-and-a-half-meter walls!
By the way, being a completely new type of weapons, the BMPT does not fall under the cuts under the CFE Treaty (the treaty on conventional armed forces in Europe). This class of equipment simply did not exist at the time of drawing up the contract, because “Frame-99” is not a tank or an armored vehicle. So, no one will forbid us to stock them more.
