Kalashnikov conquers America
Experts believe that the concern is able to improve its position in the American market, since in the US the name Kalashnikov does not lose popularity among those citizens who love and appreciate small arms. The most popular overseas used civilian carbines "Saiga", which were made on the basis of the world-famous Kalashnikov assault rifle. The quality of these carbines was also appreciated by the American police. After the Shot Show 2012 show in Las Vegas, Izhmash signed a contract for the supply of Saiga-12 rifles to American police units.
According to the agreements concluded at the Shot Show 2014 exhibition, the official dealer of the concern - the RWC company - received an exclusive right to supply the USA and Canada with up to 30 types of small sporting and hunting weapons of Izhevsk gunsmiths for a period of 5 years. This, in particular, is about such popular brands of Izhevsk small arms, as varieties of carbines and Saiga, Sobol, Bars, Elk, Rekord rifles, as well as hunting rifles produced by Izhevsk Mechanical Plant. In addition to the sales themselves, RWC will undertake to provide a full range of activities aimed at promoting Russian products in the North American market, as well as serving them.
According to the military expert Alexander Golts, who is the deputy editor-in-chief of the online magazine “Daily Journal”, not only hunting enthusiasts but also American police forces acquire semi-automatic weapons for special and sports purposes like the Saiga carbines. A feature of the system, which bears the name of Kalashnikov, is simplicity and reliability. These two qualities will always be in demand by people who acquire small arms for self-defense, as well as representatives of the power unit. In the saiga carbine, the AK mechanism was used. At the same time, deliveries to the United States directly to the Kalashnikov assault rifle fall under the current federal ban. At the same time, in American stores you can freely buy not only Russian Saiga carbines, but also AK-47 and AK-74 assault rifles, which are made in Romania or Bulgaria. Prices start with a mark in 600 dollars.
Currently, many US companies have learned to circumvent the federal ban, as the automatic parts are installed parts from the United States. In any case, such companies do not need the emergence of a major competitor in the face of the Kalashnikov concern, even if it will only trade in civilian products. Perhaps it was for this reason that Konstantin Busygin, head of the Kalashnikov concern, who was traveling to an exhibition in Las Vegas was denied a visa. According to military expert Ivan Konovalov, the sale of weapons is a very tough kind of modern business. Players of this market are ready to use any methods to remove competitors from their path. A presence at the exhibition of the general director of the concern would be desirable, but without it everything went smoothly. Instead of Busygin, the contract with the Russian Weapon Company was signed by his marketing deputy, Pavel Koligov, who regarded non-issuance of a visa to Busygin as another attempt to prevent the Russian weapon manufacturer from gaining a foothold in the international market. On the American side, the deal was signed by Thomas McCrosin, who is the general director of the Russian Weapon Company.
Deputy Marketing Director of the Kalashnikov Russian Arms Concern believes that an exclusive dealer in the North American market, represented by RWC, will be able to help the concern pursue a consistent policy in the region in the sale of sporting and hunting weapons. From this cooperation, the Kalashnikov concern is waiting to increase its share in the largest small arms market in the world. At the end of 2013, the USA accounted for 90% of the total export of Kalashnikov sporting and hunting weapons. And according to information for the 2010 year, Russia held the second place in exports to the United States of self-loading rifles and carbines and was among the top ten in the supply of pistols to the country.
In Las Vegas, the exposition of the Russian arms concern was visited by the famous American actor of militants Stephen Seagal. Earlier that Seagal will advertise weapons of production of Izhevsk concern, ITAR-TASS reported. According to him, a preliminary agreement was reached between the actor and the concern. In what role was the actor at the exhibition, the company did not specify.
Rumors about Steven Seagal's connection with the Izhevsk enterprise appeared in October 2013, when the actor unexpectedly for many visited the capital of the Udmurt Republic on a visit. Sigal also visited the enterprise itself. This story became a kind of continuation of cooperation Segal and Russian gunsmiths. They also talked about the fact that Dmitry Rogozin, who oversees all issues in the military-industrial complex in Russia, suggested that Seagal become the official face of the Kovrov plant to them. Degtyareva during major international exhibitions.
It is worth noting that, in addition to the Kovrov enterprise, Stephen Sigal has already agreed to be the face of the Moscow enterprise ORSIS, which is developing modern sniper rifles. Currently in Moscow are working on a sniper rifle called ORSIS by Steven Seagal, the work is already close to its logical conclusion. The actor was personally going to test the novelty, as well as apply it as a game weapon in one of his new films. In any case, the involvement of Steven Seagal to promote the products of the Kalashnikov Concern could be a good marketing ploy.
