What could be the Third World War?
Since ancient times, people by all means fought for the best place under the sun, and under the moon too. There was a conflict over the possession of a fertile valley, the best pastures, and so on. Victory gave self-affirmation among other tribes, booty and slaves ... Somewhat positive (according to the conclusions of historians) were unifying wars, when a prince conquered neighbors and near and far, and ultimately created a fairly strong state. A distinctive feature of those distant "half-children" wars was that they did not spoil the nature and did not threaten to destroy the entire human race. True, entire tribes and peoples were exterminated (and with tremendous cruelty), but nothing threatened humanity as a whole.
As time went. The struggle for survival and approval forced to search for new and new weapon. Other knightly manners fled before the battle before the battle. The generals preferred to destroy the enemy en masse and immediately. Until the mid-twentieth century, it was still possible to use any new weapon without harming the planet. But then humanity matured to the invention of a nuclear, chemical, and bacteriological potential unprecedented before. The whole globe is saturated with it. It remains only for someone to press the first button.
So, mankind has matured, but it is not foolish enough to use this potential. Let the politicians shout and quarrel, the generals are ready, but everyone understands that there will be no winners in the new war, that even an unanswered blow with a ricoche will get the instigator, and how it will get! And who, in fact, needs a destroyed, for many years infected enemy territory? It is desirable because it is habitable and filled with cheap labor. But how to achieve this? Meanwhile, certain forces are preparing for a new repartition of the world. About him dream. Sometimes there are local wars, but the planet as a whole holds on.
Now let's talk about computers. A global computerization is taking place in the world. Regardless of whether a country is backward, as it is with an economy, or if a crisis of power is occurring, computers gradually penetrate into all spheres. Even the global crisis cannot stop this process.
I remember how I used to take train tickets. There are places - they give out a ticket, no - they do not. Picture today. The train has come, there are free places, and everyone knows about it, and the Network is frozen. No access to the server, and the girl in blue can do nothing. Without a computer, she will not sell a ticket. There is no going back. Electronic equipment appeared in stores and even in pharmacies. There is no connection, and you will not be told the price of a rarely purchased medicine. In the ATM you will not get money if the bank problems with the server. True, such failures do not occur often. Work on the Network, its quality is constantly improved, the systems are looked after. But if a severe virus has entered your office ...
I remember well how it happened in my bureau. The network virus was launched in Germany, overcame half of Europe and reached our plant. It really helped that an outdated connection was made between the departments - a slow ten megabyte connection. Therefore, when computers began to be denied, we managed to warn a number of departments. However, half of the engineers could not work for three days until the virus was pacified. Stopped and a few shops that are charged through the network programs on CNC machines (numerical control). And this has done only one virus, written by a brave hacker!
And if you carefully prepare a package or a lot of packages of similar viruses and release them into a computer network of a not very friendly country? This is a global force weapon! Can you imagine the consequences? The factories will stop, power stations will not be able to function as they should, paralyzing transport, banks will not be able to perform a single operation. Complete destabilization of the economy and life! It's time to stir up the people by some kind of cultural revolution and slip the necessary government. And the troops do not need to enter.
But the Internet has no boundaries. How do viruses distinguish whom to attack? Elementary! By territory or by language, which is used. In addition, you can pre-supply the necessary regions with a vaccine. Poison is better to invent along with the antidote.
The farther into the future, the more destructive such an attack will be ... or war ... Here we return to the title of the article. Computers every year, even month, more and more penetrate into all the niches of our activity, and their slightest failures are immediately noticeable.
And purposeful impact will bring real chaos. The third world will be a computer war. It is quite possible that intensive preparations are under way in classified laboratories. Hackers create viruses primarily for the sake of boldness, to assert themselves, show themselves and admire their "brilliant" results.
And experts in the military departments work constantly and for good money. I do not claim that this is the case. It may well be that I am mistaken. But the idea of massive viral plaque is quite feasible.
I have repeatedly convinced that reality is much more fantastic than the most daring fiction. If any thought has occurred to someone, it is possible that a similar one will come tomorrow to someone else, completely
independent of the first head. And it is quite possible that this thought has already been realized somewhere.
So, let's think less about stupid things! True, why do we need the Third World, even if the computer?
