“Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, opening the meeting, noted the significance of the past year for the Armed Forces. So, the minister said that in 2010, a new combat structure of the army and navy was created, the combat control systems, logistics and training of troops were fundamentally updated, ”the agency’s source said.

He noted that the head of the Ministry of Defense positively assessed the work on the creation of four military districts, whose leadership was entrusted to the joint strategic commands, and the formations and units that had become part of them had already begun a full-fledged military training in the new organizational structure.

Head of the General Staff General of the Army Nikolai Makarov, speaking in his turn, reported that, despite the tight deadlines, all the tasks to improve the command and control system of the Armed Forces and the transition to a new alert system were completed on time.

“Speaking about the tasks of combat training at 2011, Makarov focused the attention of the meeting participants on the organization of individual training for military personnel; the release of personnel from functions not related to combat training; increasing the skills of non-commissioned officers; preparing units for action in difficult conditions; improving the educational material base, ”the representative of the Ministry of Defense noted.

Lieutenant-General Gennady Borisov, head of the military inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense, who reported on the results of inspections and control checks in 2010, noted the need to change the current command training system. “It is necessary to deepen the theoretical knowledge and improve the methodological skills of the commanders and chiefs of staff of the brigades, to increase the level of personal training of servicemen of the subunits,” the interlocutor of the Borisov agency quoted.
