China is developing a new version of the fighter J-10

The Chengdu Aerospace J-10 fighter was first shown at the Zhuhai Air Show in 2008, and since then, significant progress has been made in developing the program. The evolution of the program J-10 can be compared with the directions of modernization of the American F-16.

One of the main ways to improve the F-16 was to equip this aircraft with a more powerful FXDUMX-GE-110 TRDF instead of the originally installed F-100-PW-100 / 100. The new engine has thrust more than 220 pounds more than the previous one. The development of the Chinese J-6000 is in the same direction, that is, work is being done to equip the fighter with the new WS-10A engine of the national company Liming Aeroengine Manufacturing Corporation (LMAC).

According to Chinese media reports, the WS-10A is undergoing flight tests on the J-10B prototype. This engine should replace the turbofans AL-31FN produced by the Russian company Salyut.

The J-10B version has a completely new intake air intake design than the one on the J-10A equipped with the AL-31FN, which again follows the evolution of the F-16 fighter, which received a “big mouth” air intake for increased airflow for powering a more powerful F110-GE-100 engine.

However, for modern combat aircraft even more important is the equipment of the latest electronic equipment. Representatives of the Chinese aircraft industry said that the new line of onboard equipment is in development. In particular, the aircraft will receive a more powerful EW container system of the type CETC KG300G, which will operate at a greater number of frequencies. In addition, the fighter will receive on-board radar with an active phased array antenna (AFAR), which will replace the existing radar with mechanical scanning. One of the Chinese designers said that the use of radar with AFAR "greatly improves the performance of any fighter, as it provides an incomparably better efficiency and reliability of the station."
