Final thematic conference call at the Ministry of Defense, December 26, 2023

The Russian armed forces and other security forces continue to carry out a special military operation to protect Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. In connection with the end of the year, our Ministry of Defense sums up the interim results of the Special Operation, names the successes achieved and provides important statistics. In general, we are talking about successfully completing assigned tasks and inflicting critical damage on the enemy.

According to official data

The Russian Ministry of Defense takes a responsible approach to the issue of informing the public and covering the Special Operation. The ministry's Department of Information and Mass Communications publishes daily reports containing basic information from the front. In addition, this year the practice of regular communications from the heads of press services of individual areas appeared and became established. The media operating in the combat zone also play a role in the coverage of the operation.

Briefings and meetings are also held with the participation of the department's leadership on the most important issues in the context of the Special Operation. Thus, on December 21 in Moscow, the Chief of the General Staff, Army General Valery Gerasimov, gave a report on the results of the ministry’s activities. He revealed general issues of current military development and training, and also touched upon the topic of combat work of troops, incl. as part of the defense of Donbass.

On December 26, a final conference call was held with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, during which Minister Sergei Shoigu spoke. He supplemented the previously disclosed information about the training and combat work of troops, the activities of the defense industry, etc. The current Special Operation in Ukraine received special attention.

The main events

The Minister of Defense indicated that the main goal of the Special Operation this year was to disrupt the enemy’s widely announced counter-offensive. Our armed forces coped with this task. They created a developed and effective fortification system, prepared to repel the attack and resolutely accepted the battle. As a result, Ukrainian formations suffered heavy losses, and their combat effectiveness was sharply reduced.

Effective combat work of units and formations became possible thanks to the activities of the military-industrial complex. He increased the production of necessary products, both already mastered and completely new models. The production of the most popular products has grown significantly over the past period of time and is sufficiently meeting the needs of the army.

The leadership of the Ministry of Defense directly speaks about the readiness and possibility of continuing military operations to achieve all other goals of the Special Operation. At the same time, for obvious reasons, exact action plans, expected deadlines for completing certain activities, etc. are not disclosed.

Foreign participation

Foreign states continue to support the Kiev regime in various ways. The most important in this context are the supplies of foreign weapons and foreign-made equipment. In fact, it is through them that the combat effectiveness of Ukrainian formations is now ensured.

According to our Ministry of Defense, since February 2022, more than 5,2 thousand armored combat vehicles have been delivered to Ukraine, incl. tanks different models. Over 1,3 thousand field artillery guns and 200 multiple launch rocket systems were transferred. The air defense of the Kyiv regime was reinforced with 1200 complexes and installations of various types. More than 100 airplanes and helicopters, as well as 23 thousand unmanned aerial vehicles, were transferred.

Since last year, a variety of ammunition and weapons have been sent to Ukraine. In 2023, foreign partners satisfied Kyiv’s wishes and gave it long-range missile weapons. The UK and France shipped 200 Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles, and operational-tactical ATACMS arrived from the US. The Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet announced the number of the latter.

The process of training Ukrainian militants abroad has been organized. To date, about 100 thousand Ukrainians have undergone training at foreign bases with the participation of instructors from third countries.

Battles and their results

The enemy’s main goal in the past year was to carry out the so-called. counteroffensive. At a recent briefing, V. Gerasimov revealed the known details of such a plan, and also named its results. In general, we are talking about a complete failure of the Ukrainian side and large losses of various kinds.

During the “counter-offensive,” the Kiev regime planned to restore access to the Sea of Azov and deprive Russia of a land corridor to Crimea. According to the plan of the Ukrainian command, during the first 15 days. the advancing group was supposed to reach the city of Melitopol and block it. Then the enemy's targets became Mariupol, the coast of the Azov Sea and the northern part of Crimea.

A large group created by the beginning of June in the Zaporozhye direction was supposed to solve such problems. It initially included 50 battalions, 230 tanks and approx. 1 thousand armored vehicles; About half of the equipment involved is modern foreign models. Subsequently, the group was increased by 30 battalions with a corresponding increase in the number of manpower and equipment.

The offensive launched in June did not cope with the assigned tasks - the enemy was not able to overcome even the tactical defense zone of the Russian army. The lack of success forced the Kiev regime to throw into battle strategic reserves prepared to develop the offensive. This did not lead to a change in the situation, but increased the overall losses of Ukrainian forces. In fact, within six months the “counter-offensive” ran out of steam and failed.

During this time, in all directions, Ukraine lost approx. 160 thousand people, more than 3 thousand armored vehicles, including 766 tanks, as well as 121 aircraft and 23 helicopters. The previously prepared offensive group has lost its potential and cannot solve the assigned task.

Huge contribution

All types of armed forces and types of troops participate in solving combat and other tasks during the Special Operation. Depending on their specialization, different formations and units participate directly in combat operations at the front line, work from the rear, strike remote targets, or support the activities of other structures.

The main burden, for obvious reasons, falls on the ground forces. It was they who ensured the construction of defensive positions in the Zaporozhye direction at the beginning of the year, and then occupied them and stopped the enemy’s advance. In addition, the army is successfully advancing in other directions and is showing new successes. The last event of this kind was the liberation of the settlement. Marinka.

During a recent briefing, the Chief of the General Staff noted the work of operational-tactical and front-line aviation. They work around the clock and, in any weather conditions, search for and destroy ground targets - places of deployment of enemy personnel, headquarters, command posts, warehouses, etc. Since the beginning of the Special Operation, combat aircraft and helicopters have carried out several thousand combat sorties. Unmanned aircraft systems have become particularly important. With their help, XNUMX-hour surveillance of the enemy, reconnaissance and target designation are carried out. UAVs also undertake the destruction of various objects.

The work of air defense is of great importance. Air defense units destroyed more than 6,3 thousand air targets this year. The bulk of them, 4,6 thousand, were UAVs of various types. The enemy's missile weapons are successfully intercepted. Approximately destroyed in the air. 100 Storm Shadow/SCALP cruise missiles, approx. 90 AGM-88 HARM products, 30 operational-tactical “Tochek-U” and over 1,4 thousand multiple launch rocket systems.

Background processes

The most important feature of the current Special Operation is the limited use of troops and resources. The demilitarization of Ukraine does not interfere with the general processes of military development and improvement of our armed forces as a whole. In the past year, notable successes have also been achieved in this direction. At the same time, the process of development of the armed forces does not stop, and difficult but important tasks are again set for next year.

In accordance with previously adopted plans, the size of the armed forces was increased in 2023. Now there are 1,32 million people in the service. This year, taking into account the changed situation and various factors, the military and political leadership decided to further increase the number of military personnel in the foreseeable future. Thus, the growth of the army will continue.

The organizational structure of the armed forces is changing and improving, due to which they adapt to the changing situation in the world and improve. Thus, this year, two new combined arms armies appeared in the ground forces, as well as 14 formations of support troops. The aerospace force has expanded with three new formations.

For obvious reasons, strategic nuclear forces continue to receive the necessary attention. They included another submarine missile carrier, Project 955A “Borey-A” - “Emperor Alexander III”, and the construction of the next ships in the series is nearing completion. The transition of ground formations of the Strategic Missile Forces to modern Yars and Avangard complexes is not stopping. The air component of the strategic nuclear forces is being strengthened through the modernization of existing aircraft and the introduction of modern long-range cruise missiles.

The defense industrial complex is demonstrating its ability to develop and increase production rates. It produces and modernizes various products and samples required by the group of troops in the Donbass and new regions, as well as supplied to other units and formations. To meet the increased needs of the army, industry increased the production of the most popular products several times or tens of times.

At recent events, the leadership of the Ministry of Defense announced some of the results of industry activities. Thus, this year the army received more than 1,5 tanks and 3 thousand armored vehicles of other classes, new and modernized. The Aerospace Forces received 230 aircraft and helicopters, as well as more than 20 thousand UAVs. The VKS anti-aircraft units received 80 modern weapons and equipment. The Navy has added a dozen new submarines and surface ships to its combat force.

Also, our armed forces continue the processes of training and education. Exercises of various sizes are regularly held, in which various formations of all types of troops and types of forces participate. At the same time, for obvious reasons, special attention is paid to the preparation of units that will soon be sent to the Special Operation zone.

Despite all the attempts of the collective West to isolate Russia, military cooperation with foreign countries continues. This year, our army took part in 17 international exercises, episodes of which took place on land, in the air and at sea. The implementation of a number of international security projects continues. A special place in the field of international cooperation is occupied by the military-technical forum “Army”, which this year once again brought together military personnel and specialists from dozens of friendly or neutral states.

Preliminary results

Thus, the Russian armed forces continue to develop and improve, improving all key indicators. In parallel with them, the defense-industrial complex is increasing its capabilities and breaking production records. All these processes make it possible to increase the overall defense capability of the country in accordance with the changing international military-political situation, new threats, etc.

Against the background of general growth and modernization, our army is conducting a special military operation to protect new regions and demilitarize the Kyiv regime. Despite all the difficulties, she copes with the assigned tasks and inflicts great damage on the enemy, gradually reducing his combat effectiveness and potential. In addition, foreign allies of the Kyiv regime receive indirect damage. They send various materiel, which are predictably destroyed in the combat zone or beyond.

The announced results for the outgoing year 2023 look positive and show that our armed forces are coping with the assigned tasks. The demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine has become a continuous, effective and rhythmic process. With all this, the pace of the Special Operation remains moderate and consistent with the goals at hand. Overall, 2023 should be considered successful, and positive trends will continue next year.

Even the newest one shot down in the air and an ancient half-disassembled one covered on the ground - they will both be considered destroyed, and at the same time the truth and not a word of lies. It seems like an elementary thing...

Yes. Moreover, it is meaningless for both the people of Iraq and the people of Iran. Persuaded Hussein to attack Iran - Americans. Just like “Ruchechnik” persuaded citizen Volokushina-)) Hussein... of course, he had his eye on the province of Khuzestan, populated by Arabs, for a long time. But he didn’t dare to rock the boat. And the Americans had to do their business in the Persian Gulf.. and take revenge on Iran.. for all the deeds. And the amers all it went perfectly. The USSR could have prevented this war, with its firm determination.. but.. for the USSR this war provided tactical benefits.
            1) Iran has stopped putting a spoke in our wheels in Afghanistan.
            2) The price of oil has jumped.
            3) Unliquid weapons are in demand... and the USSR has billions.
That is why they did not take tough measures to prevent that war.
            -------
Hussein.. by the way.. was quite surprised that the Arabs of Khuzestan greeted him not with flowers but with bullets.. Doesn’t it remind you of anything?

What do Americans have to do with it? The new regime in Iran began to massively influence the Shiites in Iraq, who were the majority in Iraq, to call for an armed uprising. I should refresh the chronology in detail, but Iraq was provoked by Iranian Mules.

So it was already burning well there, the Shiites were still 60% of the population in Iraq and they didn’t like Saddam anyway. And in my opinion, there were even armed clashes and Saddam’s butchers had to terrorize the Shiites 24/7. Americans, not Americans, but a mortal danger loomed for Saddam’s Sunni regime and he tried to take advantage of the “unpreparedness” for the database of the young mule regime with then the most powerful army in the region.

Iraq paid not in cash, but in promissory notes, that is, promissory notes. As a result, the USSR shipped modern (at that time) models like Mig-29, T-72, etc. and received debt obligations from Iraq. And Putin wrote off Iraqi debts at the request of Bush Jr. They say the Iraqi people should not pay for the war that was started by a dictator who was not elected. But Iraq paid reparations to Kuwait in full.

It won’t be decades, but given the scale of the tasks and the approach to business, it will last for several years. If the West continues to mind its own affairs, then the war will probably end in a couple of years, but the question is, with what result? what

In the sense of arming the Armed Forces of Ukraine as it is now, it’s too late and little by little? The West doesn’t know what to do with this war, because with the help of what they gave it didn’t work out, but for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to get good luck, the Armed Forces of Ukraine need to be seriously armed, including the Air Force, Taurus and their analogues, and the West of course has these weapons, but damn the war begins to lose the support of voters, more and more in favor of freezing, even if we now begin to arm ourselves much better, then the war may still drag on for at least two years, and the world economy, prices for resources will once again jump and fall where they should not. Here we also need to take into account that there is no center of power in the West and elections can bring in forces in one country or another who are in favor of freezing the war and possibly in favor of easing sanctions on Russian gas.

Apparently, you have no idea how many aircraft the Armed Forces of Ukraine had as of 02.2022 by type (for educational purposes - ~125 and according to this report, 28 were delivered from NATO countries), but 553 were destroyed!!! Well, with a stretch, you can add about 60 air defense systems destroyed at the beginning in storage at airfields, which were not combat-ready and could only be used as spare parts. They are counted only by the “general” who really wants to receive an order or medal

At the beginning of the SVO, there were more than 200 aircraft in service alone, an unknown number in storage, and an unknown number just parked. Almost all Soviet-made aircraft were transferred from Europe after the start of the SVO. In general, the Soviet Union gave the hikhs 2800 aircraft of various classes and types.

The directory "Jane's All the World's Aircraft 2022" talks about 117 combat aircraft, "World Air Forces 2022" about 97, "The Military Balance 2022" about 124, which is closer to the truth. Where did you get 200 from and what is its source? Regarding deliveries from the geyropa, you haven’t read Shoigu’s speeches at all. The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation at an enlarged meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Defense announced: “In total, ....28 aircraft, 87 helicopters, 23 thousand UAVs were delivered to Kyiv...”
28!!! 28 more aircraft have been delivered since the beginning of the SVO. This is even less than the data that I have. According to my calculations, 32 were delivered, incl. 18 Su-25 (14 - Bulgaria, 4 - Macedonia) and 14 MiG-29 (4 - Poland, 14 - Slovakia). The fact that someone was once left with a bunch of equipment says absolutely nothing. On my own behalf, I will also inform you that the technique, which has been around for 30 years!!! It has been standing openly at the airfield for years (supposedly in storage), does not fly and is practically not maintained, and has been turned into scrap metal. So rub it in with your peers who have little understanding of this issue.

And again about 200 aircraft by 2022. In 2013, the Armed Forces of Ukraine had 160 combat aircraft, in 2012 - 211. And that’s exactly what they were. Experts estimate combat readiness at a level of no more than 70%. The same applies to 2022. Where there are (as an example we take the Su-25) out of 31 listed Su-25s there are only 19 combat-ready (9 Su-25M1, 1 Su-25UBM1, 6 Su-25, 3 Su-25UB). There was another flying Su-25UB, which is based in MiGremont and, if absolutely necessary, could be involved in combat work. I also hope that while arguing about such issues, you are aware of the existence of the Orix site. There are many complaints against him, but nevertheless his latest data are as follows. The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost 60 combat aircraft (of those 125, of course), incl. 18/1 Su-24M/Su-24MZ, 16 Su-25, 13 Su-27 and 22 MiG-29. I still don’t understand how it’s possible to recently shoot down a couple more Su-24s that attacked Feodosia, if in 2022 there were 23-25 of them, and they’ve already shot down 63 (the figure is from Konashenkov’s reports at the briefing, you can calculate it yourself, if you’re not too lazy ), and they still fly. I recently learned that our prosecutor’s office has looked into these figures. But if we assume that they pay 300 thousand rubles for a downed plane, then unpleasant questions arise. And who received the fee for the destruction of 560 aircraft?

I see that you haven’t even learned how to conduct a dialogue yet. Therefore, I will focus on the number 63. You are talking about those shot down and destroyed. So here it is. 63 are downed Su-24 aircraft: 32 - shot down by VKS fighters, 31 - air defense (air defense systems, MANPADS). These are those shot down in the AIR. The figure 63, I repeat, was taken from Konashenkov’s reports, where he was meticulously calculating each day with an accrual total. And for some reason you added the number 63 to this number 60. This is a different number and it was announced at the briefing when Konashenkov spoke about the destruction of ALL aircraft on EARTH in the first days of the Northern Military District. Don't lump everything into one pile - read more carefully. For some reason, you did not comment on the number 28, voiced by Shoigu, regarding the aircraft delivered from Europe. Do you have other information? Probably, according to your data, they were delivered to 200, or even 300 aircraft

Honestly, I don’t even know what to answer. Although
Firstly, it’s the wrong scale and the wrong time. The Wehrmacht is advancing. Who would even think of dividing our destroyed planes at the airfield into combat-ready ones or not?
We are already in the 41st century. Both those who attack and those who defend know both. Although I have a strong suspicion that our non-combat-ready aircraft in ’22 were much more combat-ready than Ukrainian aircraft in ’30. In the USSR, aircraft did not sit at airfields for XNUMX years without maintenance. Therefore, our historians have the right to consider all lost planes lost. By the way, I think so too.
Secondly. Although the first thing is enough.

In general, I agree with your conclusions, but let me add that as of 1992, Ukraine received from the USSR about 200 Su-24s of various modifications, including the rare Su-24MP jammers that were based in Chertkov.
It is clear that after 30 years little remains of this amount. Some were dismantled for parts, some were written off.
But in any case, as of 02.22, there could have been around fifty Su-24s in storage.
They used them to make up for losses, sometimes by assembling one from several cars.

Then the question arises, how much did you collect? After all, 560 planes have already been destroyed, and there were 125 + 28 sent from NATO. Where else do 400 planes come from? Where were they collected? How were they delivered to the assembly site? Imagine that a car has been sitting on the street for 30 years, and then take spare parts from it. Yes, everything there was rotten and rusty. No quality of metal used in aviation will help. In our military equipment storage warehouses they steal with all their might, and in Ukraine they steal, frankly, even more. What nature did not finish off, the service personnel will finish off - they will drag everything back to the hut. Believe me.

Probably no more than 24-20 Su-25s were recovered from storage.
They don’t need to restore everything - they don’t have so many trained crews.
                    Quite a complex plane.
Some of these vehicles were stored in ARZ hangars. The spare parts were from cut up planes.
We are not talking about any 400, but several dozen were apparently collected from what was available.

Until the mid-2000s, spare parts for the Tu-160 were sold to Russia from Ukrainian warehouses.

They also don’t show how many were mutilated in captivity. When the exchange for Medvedchuk took place, the Ukrainians greeted theirs as heroes, and we greeted ours? There was no information, only the phrase that medical assistance was being provided. The other day I saw a comment on VO that our pilots were not released then, but were released only six months later, already in complete information silence.
Again there is this duality, like we have a special military operation, carried out by professionals far from the Shirnarmass in an atmosphere of deep secrecy, but for some reason they are mobilized there.
Bloggers name the names of the dead, but these are bloggers with a relatively small audience. There was an article on VO about Roman Rudakov, but this is the first such story in almost two years of VO, and such information raises uncomfortable questions about the circumstances of the death.

Do not create for yourself and do not encourage those around you to create privileges that distinguish “servants of the people” from their representatives.
The most disgusting thing is when these “pseudo-communists”, who fought for the cause of the Communist Party, begin to criticize the socialist principles, the benefits of which they enjoyed all their lives while living in the USSR.

    1. Modern Ukraine appeared in 1991 not on its own, but under the Belovezhsky Treaty with Russia.
    2. “They created their own defenses and fortified areas” because Russia struggled for 8 years to implement the Minsk agreements.
    3. Russia cannot protect its warships on the Black Sea, but Ukraine can protect hundreds of kilometers of railways and bridges.....
After everything, let them report what they want and to whomever they want. This is no longer interesting...

You are not adequate. It is not Ukraine that can protect hundreds of kilometers of its railways, but the entire West, which has transferred to it its air defense systems, specialists, reconnaissance and target search equipment, intelligence data from the NATO group, its air defense systems, and so on. Without this, Ukraine would have capitulated already a year and a half ago and would not have defended anything. And secondly, Russia cannot protect its ships in the Crimean sector, since the entire zone is controlled by the intelligence of neighboring NATO countries. And modern wings. They supply missiles to Ukraine. Without them, Ukraine would not have been able to threaten the Black Sea Fleet in its bases long ago. You are confusing the capabilities of Ukraine and the capabilities of 55 Western countries that supply it with everything it needs.

Who knows. Remember Chechnya, which is much smaller than Ukraine.
Who cares what would have happened. What matters is what you have now. Perhaps it's all about Western help, so be it. Perhaps the Ukrainian railways are not touched, because there is a lot of business and trade on both sides, and Russia is really not waging a war and has not yet started, as officials have repeatedly stated.
Be that as it may, equipment and ammunition freely flow to the enemy, and our soldiers are killed with this ammunition.

If the Faberges were smaller, it wouldn’t skid when turning, but since it skids, you have to draw lines. If it weren’t for Ivleva’s naked party, our air defense would have been able to work better. Think about it, the BOD was damaged from the debris of the downed missiles, they flew more than 300 km, but the air defense shot down the planes deep in the rear.

"Foreign states continue to support the Kiev regime in various ways. The most important in this context are the supplies of foreign weapons and foreign-made equipment."

This is a statement of fact, from which it follows that nothing can be done about this - just sit and observe. Otherwise, there will be a world war. In this case, how was it planned to neutralize the supply of Western weapons when planning the Northern Military District? Or were these deliveries a surprise? And, for some reason, the Western countries that supply weapons to Ukraine are not very afraid of the threat of world war. They are not even afraid of the words of the Minister of Defense about “immediate attacks on decision-making centers.” And there were no such blows.

this was voiced in order to effortlessly force the entire Russian Armed Forces to sit in the trenches and not rock the boat. happened
“Such problems were to be solved by a large group created by the beginning of June in the Zaporozhye direction. It initially included 50 battalions, 230 tanks and about 1 thousand armored vehicles; Later the group was increased by 30 battalions with a corresponding increase in number.”
if it was in the Zaporozhye direction, why in all other places the Russian Armed Forces were sitting exactly?
