New Ukrainian armored personnel carrier BTR-4МВ
The Armed Forces of Ukraine will soon receive a new armored personnel carrier BTR-4МВ, which is a modification of the well-known BTR-4. This modification was developed by the state enterprise "Kharkiv Mechanical Design Bureau named after AA Morozov". The company has already completed the production of a prototype. According to the KMDB, the car will be officially presented in Abu Dhabi (UAE) at the "Idex" exhibition, which will be held from 17 to 21 in February of 2013.
Despite this, some details about the new car are already known. First of all, the bow knot of the armored hull was subjected to considerable processing. Unlike the base model, the armored personnel carrier does not have armored glasses in the front of the doors. The bow assembly was performed similarly to most modern wheeled armored personnel carriers with a significant angle of inclination, as well as the placement of the commander and driver in separate hatches.
Also changed the aft part of the armored personnel carrier. Now, for the landing, a folding ramp will be used, in which an additional door is made. That is, the paratroopers were able to choose the way out of the armored personnel carrier.
Corps armor protection was upgraded from STANAG 4569 Level 2 to Level 3. In addition, it is possible to install additional protection (including dynamic and ceramic) with the provision of 4 and 5 levels of protection in accordance with NATO standards. However, the anti-mine protection of the BTR-4MV remains insufficient, since no major changes were made to its increase in the hull structure.
According to experts, the letter "B" in the index of the new Ukrainian armored personnel carrier means the use of an imported diesel engine. On the prototype BTR-4МВ installed combat module "Sail".
We add that the BTR-4МВ is considered as a promising armored personnel carrier for the armed forces of Ukraine. Processing the BTR-4 carried out in accordance with the requirements of representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, who subjected to serious criticism earlier versions of the armored personnel carrier.
