Since last autumn, the Kiev regime, left without a full-fledged naval force, has been using disposable attack unmanned boats. With the help of such equipment, they regularly try to attack our ships and coastal facilities. The Russian armed forces are aware of this threat and are taking steps to neutralize it. Due to certain means and methods, the use of such boats is prevented or suppressed.

current threat

The possibility of unmanned kamikaze boats appearing in the Kyiv regime became known last summer. Later, in September, this information was confirmed - the enemy tried to use such a technique for the first time. At the same time, the attack failed, and our specialists got the opportunity to study a new percussion weapon.

Nevertheless, the Ukrainian formations did not abandon their attempts to use boats and attack our facilities and ships. In addition, they received new models of similar equipment with different tactical and technical characteristics. Reportedly, the largest kamikaze boats can carry a charge of hundreds of kilograms and deliver it to a distance of up to 800 km.

In recent weeks the enemy has begun to use his boats more frequently. So, on the morning of July 16, a pair of such funds tried to break through to the Crimean coast near the city of Sevastopol. Obviously, they were sent to the port and ships, but the sabotage attempt was successfully suppressed. On the night of July 17, kamikaze boats were used in an attack on the Kerch bridge. This time the breakthrough was successful - the bridge structures were damaged and people died.

On the night of July 25, two boats tried to attack the Sergei Kotov patrol ship, which was performing tasks in the western part of the Black Sea. The threat was identified and neutralized in time. With the help of standard weapons, the crew of the ship destroyed the boats at a distance of 1000 and 800 m. On August 1, "Sergey Kotov", together with the ship of the same type "Vasily Bykov", repelled the attack of three boats that threatened civilian shipping.

On the night of August 4, the enemy again attempted to attack coastal targets. This time, his target was the Novorossiysk naval base. Two enemy boats were again discovered and destroyed. At the same time, Ukrainian propaganda, despite another failure, is trying to make this sabotage successful - the reason for its joy was the damage to one of the Russian ships. A day later, a civilian tanker was attacked in the area of the Kerch Strait.

It is obvious that the Kiev regime will continue to attack our ships and coastal facilities with the help of unmanned boats available to it. In addition, the civilian population and shipping have already suffered. In this regard, our the fleet and other troops will have to take appropriate action. Fortunately, all the necessary methods and means are already known, mastered and ready. That is why the bulk of enemy boats are destroyed long before approaching their targets.

Preventive demilitarization

Attacks by kamikaze boats can be prevented already at the stage of their organization. To do this, it is necessary to identify the places of production and deployment of such equipment. A timely strike against such enterprises and bases reduces the operational capabilities of the enemy or even deprives him of the opportunity to carry out sabotage.

The Russian army is taking appropriate measures. Infrastructure objects intended for unmanned boats are identified and destroyed. So, on July 18 - the day after the terrorist attack against the Kerch bridge - the Navy carried out a group strike with a high-precision weapons sea-based on enemy targets in the Odessa area, where kamikaze boats were assembled and trained. This operation was designated as a retaliation strike.

On the night of July 20, a similar strike was carried out by the Air Force and the Navy. The targets were objects in the region of Odessa and Ilyichevsk. On July 23, air and sea-based complexes again carried retribution. It is obvious that in the near future the enemy will be answered for the attack of Novorossiysk.

Roadblock

A fairly simple and effective means against surface and underwater threats of various kinds are booms and boom nets. Such a device is a chain of separate floating elements, to which a net can be attached from below. Despite its simplicity, this type of barrier makes it possible to protect the water area from enemy surface and underwater equipment.

Back in January, the foreign press, referring to satellite images of commercial operators, reported that the Black Sea Fleet had begun using booms. With their help, they then defended the bays of Sevastopol, where our ships are based. Unfortunately, this complicates the process of going to sea and returning to base, but such difficulties are justified by the reduction in risks.

A few days ago it became known that the Kerch Bridge was receiving similar protection. To protect against new attacks, the strait in the area of \uXNUMXb\uXNUMXbthe structure will be blocked from both sides with booms. This will affect civilian shipping, but, as in the case of Sevastopol, security pays for all temporary inconvenience.

It must be recalled that bonnet barriers are not used independently. They are used as part of a set of measures to protect water areas. In particular, surface and underwater conditions are monitored, and, if necessary, one or another weapon is used.

fire impact

As the events of recent weeks have shown, warships play a significant role in the fight against kamikaze boats. They are capable of identifying and destroying such targets close to bases and on the high seas - in recent weeks and months, several pennants have shown such capabilities. In addition, the surface fleet ensured the delivery of retaliatory strikes and hit the bases of enemy boats with standard weapons.

Ukrainian unmanned boats actually represent a surface high-speed maneuverable target. Such an object can be detected using standard radars of various types installed on our ships. In addition, visual observation of the environment is of great importance. Radio equipment and optics make it possible to detect a dangerous object at distances of kilometers and take the necessary measures.

Kamikaze boats are destroyed by the standard weapons of the ships. They do not have any additional protection and are vulnerable to any weapons, ranging from heavy machine guns. After one of the previous attacks, the Ministry of Defense showed footage of the boat being hit by machine-gun fire. It is also possible to use small-caliber rapid-fire artillery. It compares favorably with machine guns in greater firepower and the presence of automated control systems.

A new type of kamikaze boat in service with Ukraine. Frame from CNN report

Enemy boats are controlled by radio and use satellite navigation. This means that they are fundamentally vulnerable to electronic warfare systems. On our ships, as well as on coastal facilities, there are such facilities. However, so far no suppression of boats has been reported - they are simply destroyed.

Ships of various types are now involved in the protection of water areas, bases and shipping. So, the civilian fleet is covered by patrol ships of project 22160, and recently they had to repel attacks by kamikaze boats. Earlier, in June, the Azov reconnaissance ship fought against a similar threat, and its crew destroyed the attacking boats.

The fight goes on

Thus, Ukrainian disposable strike boats pose a known threat to our ships and coastal facilities, but it should not be overestimated. They can and should be fought, and our armed forces have all the necessary means, methods and competencies.

As practice shows, the Russian Navy effectively solves the problem of countering kamikaze boats. The vast majority of such objects are detected and hit on the way to their goals. In addition, some, as yet unknown, number of boats were destroyed by attacks on their bases. However, individual means of attack still break through to our objects and inflict damage.

All this shows that the next Ukrainian “wonder weapon”, created with the help of foreign specialists and designed to change the situation at sea, did not live up to expectations. However, the enemy is not going to give it up and will attempt new attacks. Accordingly, our fleet will have to continue to fight this specific threat.

Who hasn't shed sweat 5-10 years before...? Headquarters or midshipman?

For the defense of bases and ports, a set of measures must be applied. First of all, long-range sonar and radar patrols, UAV patrols, boat and helicopter patrols. Cut into areas and appoint specific commanders, subordinating both the fleet and the sea to them. Parts of the Coast Guard and naval units of the Russian Guard, as well as aviation and UAVs.

“An OSINTtechnical researcher reviewed the flight history of the damaged SIG tanker. It has been under US sanctions since 2019. Over the years, it has been sailing almost monthly to Syria, supplying aviation fuel to the Russian air group in Syria. Interestingly, near Cyprus, it always turned off its transponder for about a week However, the Americans found that he was delivering fuel to the Syrian port of Baniyas, next to which the Russian air base was located.

I don't understand why they don't use helicopters. The fleet has a Ka-31 AWACS helicopter, there are transport and combat Ka-28s, I think that such a bunch would be quite effective in protecting not only basing sites, but also civilian shipping

One helicopter simply will not find such a small target in the sea. The Ka-31 is equipped with a radar for working across the sky or for searching major targets at sea. It is unlikely that he will detect such a trifle. And there are only two such helicopters. And we have not yet heard about the production of new ones. The Ka-29 platform itself is also no longer produced.
The Ka-28 is an export Ka-27 and is also not mass-produced. Same as the base model.
The Ka-27 radar is also unlikely to be good for searching for such small targets. EMNIP with EPR target 2 sq. m. it provides detection no further than 5 km. That is, in fact, it is easier for pilots to see such a target with their eyes. But there is no OLS on this machine. There are also no means of destruction, such as cannons or machine guns. This is an anti-submarine helicopter.

Here the Ka-52K flying from the deck would be better. This is also not an ideal option, the Mi-28 would be better, but it cannot be landed on the deck, and besides, its detection means are also not the best for such purposes...

Here, a Ka-226 with OLS and machine-gun containers, flying from the deck, would be more suitable. And more...

The threat cannot be underestimated. We are witnessing the beginning of the long-foreseen drone revolution in naval warfare. Unfortunately, Russia slept through this revolution in the same way as it once slept through the revolution in unmanned aircraft.

These ukrokaters are only the first signs. While they stupidly stick at the target on the surface of the water for self-detonation, they can still be spotted and shot.

When they get batteries and / or snorkels and go to the target under water, it will be much more difficult to detect and shoot them.

When they start carrying and launching torpedoes (like the American Mark 46) or small-sized anti-ship missiles, or Stingers, or flying drones, everything will become much more interesting.

When they begin to bring to our ports and expose bottom mines (including self-propelled) - everything will be very sad. Both we and all our opponents are well aware of the depressing state of our anti-mine forces.

By the way, those who think that strikes against the enemy's coastal infrastructure will greatly reduce the threat are mistaken. Such boats can be made hundreds of kilometers from the sea, transported in tilt trailers and launched from any beach.

The most unpleasant of all of the above are bottom mines. They can be brought in quiet and put on GPS points. All other threats require an operator and STARLINK. Find a way to limit signal reception, and the protection problem will be solved.

Here, rather, one should think about confronting light anti-ship missiles or systems replacing them. Norway has an anti-ship missile Penguin, which, although it does not climb Mikola2, weighs only 350kg. There is a more realistic option with Maverick. Of course, it’s like Air-to-surface, but it’s real to launch it from the surface, and it weighs 150kg

    I'll just remind you:
Glavkomat does not see prospects in the creation of ships, previously designated as "Corvette IAD". One of the main tasks of the OVR is to ensure the protection and defense of the naval forces in the areas of naval bases and in the adjacent territories. This task is now carried out by onshore observation means, stationary hydroacoustic stations and coastal missile-artillery troops, armed with anti-ship missiles of different ranges, as well as anti-submarine and strike aircraft.

Having abandoned the corvette, the Navy turned to the idea of creating patrol ships - less armed, but with greater autonomy and versatility, capable, among other things, of going on long voyages. The development of the project of the patrol ship will be carried out by OJSC "Northern Design Bureau."

We are now observing the result of the refusal to re-equip the ship composition of the OVR with something younger than the 35-year-old Albatross.

To the point of the issue. OVR ships (MPK, TShch, ZM, TFRs, etc.) are needed to ensure the combat stability of the fleet forces (large NK, submarines of various classes) in the area of responsibility of the naval base. Especially - at the communication nodes - approaches to the fenced, separation points of the FVK, etc. THIS IS NEEDED FOR THE FLEET (!), But by no means the Genius Headquarters of the RF Armed Forces (a boot, it is always higher than a boot!). But the Genius Headquarters needs "boats with CALIBER" !!! Therefore, we have so many flat-bottomed RTOs that are shallow-sitting on a wave of "farting" !!! And they, according to the plan of the Genius Headquarters, should not work on the ships of the adversary, but on the BC, and even with their heads in special equipment ... They don’t even bother about the “marine” problems of the “sailors” (as boots are sarcastically called us). The main thing for them is the subordinate position of 3 of the 4 fleets of the country. The task was set to "assistance to the NE in the coastal direction" - so help !!! And the fact that your "pelvises" will be drowned at the entrance to the base - your bosses will answer for this. And we will ask them in full!
I'm not imagining this one bit. This was expressed during the "tea ceremony" by one of the "clergymen" of the "big battalions" ...
And you complain: why do we have no OVR corvettes!
But the excuse is 155%!!! (according to the structure of the cores of the Navy): - we need forces capable of solving operational and strategic tasks ... We don’t touch the PKK SNs, APRK and other units capable of solving O-S tasks! And what is not included in the nomenclature of the Genius Staff is the business of the naval command ...
And it is financed according to the residual principle: little and expensive ...

Certainly. After all, such boats can be used in a real war. For example, run away from them in Syria or Ukraine. This is fully included in the concept of land war, which has been more or less worked out “with boots”.
What about the concept of fleet development from the admirals? A? Give us an aircraft carrier? Ten and yesterday! Give us a destroyer, we don’t know which one, but yesterday? Give us German engines? Yesterday! So? Small ships were needed due to INF restrictions. Because there were simply no other legal media for Calibers. "Boots" knew exactly what they needed. And we got something that WORKS. Simple and extremely utilitarian.
And in the minds of admirals there are often “naval traditions” and “the romance of distant travels.” As a result, before Doha there were not a single serial project and the fleet was completely incapable of doing anything other than standing at the quay wall and firing with the same calibers.

          Quote: Boa constrictor KAA
And the fact that your “tubs” will be drowned at the entrance to the base - your bosses will answer for this. And we will ask them to the fullest!

Who should I ask? From engineers? From generals who make weapons “for themselves”? Or from those who, while occupying their posts and receiving admiral's salaries, are not able to fulfill their official duties? Who should push the needs of the fleet through the Government? Commander of tank forces? It is the admirals who need to be skinned for the fact that, despite the huge expenditures on each The ship-fleet was an annex to the berths, and by and large remains so.

          Quote: Boa constrictor KAA
And what is not included in the nomenclature of the General Staff is a matter for the naval command...

Whose business is it? Aerospace Forces Command? The command of the Aerospace Forces, by the way, is quite systematically engaged in the development of its type of troops. They have no problems with engines. They don’t run around the world with caps and don’t beg: “Give me some diesel...!” UEC does not provide the entire range of engines, but at least the main ones. Has anyone heard of the admiralty somehow proposing something to overcome the crisis in the ship engine industry? A?

There is no need to place all the blame on the “boots”. Boots are now at war and what they have made for themselves over the years is one way or another used for their intended purpose. Including “farting flat-bottomed RTOs. What does the Black Sea Fleet do? Exactly as a fleet. And not as coastal missile batteries? Let’s be objective: so far the most striking event has been the loss of the flagship. What is known about the work of the fleet in inspecting “grain carriers”?

If the fleet needs OVR ships, why did the admirals order projects for everything except them?
Why was the FSB able to sell patrol ships and boats for itself? And built 14 ships and 23 boats? Maybe the fact is that people there came to the Government with a clear understanding of what they needed and received what they ordered? Didn’t they rush back and forth like admirals?

In any country in the world where there are ground forces and a navy, there is a struggle for the military budget. For example, in the USA the fleet dominates the armed forces. It's different in Russia. And it is entirely the fault of the admiralty that a lot of money was scattered all over the place and the necessary ships were never there.

Bonovie barriers and nets are not enough to protect the bases. Against such boats, you can make mine barriers with small (river) mines - 10-12 kilograms. At sea, they can be destroyed by ATGMs or air or sea mini drones.

Don’t you think that in the presence of working target tracking systems, OLS, and artillery modules that are already installed on helicopters and combat vehicles of the ground forces, such naval heroism, if I may say so, looks outright savagery? The automatic target tracking machine of the Mi-28 helicopter is capable of keeping the target in the center of the screen when the machine performs an evasive maneuver unattainable by any ship, the vehicle's OLS sees a tree against the background of the ground, the small-sized Ka-52 radar is adapted for searching for ground targets, combat modules for infantry fighting vehicles, the same Bakhcha equipped with stabilized platforms with a machine gun, a 30 mm cannon and a 100 mm PU for ATGMs. With remote control. But ships still use a “sighting column with a ring (collimator) sight” as in WW2.

"prevented or stopped" - ok, everything is clear here) after the attack on the BDK, they also said that everything was destroyed, but it turned out to be a little different. I would also review the messages about the neutralization of previous attacks, well, just in case)

And, during the Second World War, countermeasures were not processed? ..
In the same place, unmanned aerial vehicles worked for comrades from Japan.
According to experts, the effect is very so-so ...
    Even with a certain pilot.
And, to fight (when already on the attack) only radars and AK 630. In my unenlightened opinion ...

A strange topic was proposed by VO, represented by a certain Kirill Ryabov, for discussion .... There is a war going on, the enemy is collecting specific information from open domestic sources for its analysis and application in "its own ranks". And some who are "very much in the subject", by the nature of their past and present service, "are flooded with nightingales" on the pages of VO, having forgotten the old Soviet truth of the times of 1939 - 1945 - "Don't talk!" One thing can be said that the "marine drone", in its usual version, is a fairly serious weapon in the naval theater of operations, and in the "semi-submersible" and "submersible" versions, it is a serious weapon - several orders of magnitude more serious and menacing ... The tactics of its use are being improved by the West and The United States has been over 10 years old, and the cat has cried serious "antidotes" ... However, it should be noted that our probable and obvious opponents are focusing in the fight against this "wunder-waffen" on multi-level visual, radar and acoustic control of water environments, automated systems for searching and recognizing small targets and means of defeating these targets with small-caliber, multi-barreled artillery or multi-barreled machine guns, on mobile and fixed platforms ... I express my cautious confidence that ours, "naval thought", in this direction, too , works. But, as in any new business, and in war, in particular, "blunders" happen ... The main thing is not to give up and go forward ... The road will be mastered by the walking one ...

Principles and means of protection against unmanned kamikaze boats

    Principle N1
Do not get into a protracted war with an enemy of equal strength

Which has the technology to create modern unmanned vehicles, UAVs and boats

In 2023, when even children play with drones, naturally, all this will constantly fly on board the ships of the Black Sea Fleet

And the audience will whine every time, but how did it happen?? request why is this happening?

The ships of the Black Sea Fleet are capable of protecting themselves. If you do not yawn, but keep the watch as it should be. The problem is not warships. The problem is how to protect shipping.

"If" means a matter of time and more attempts
The problem is how to protect shipping.

No way. In 2023, drones will be everywhere, at sea and in the air

The solution to any problem, I repeat, any, begins with the solution of problems, gaps, "voids" in the minds of those who must solve these problems, first of all, organizationally .... And the technical aspects come, already, to ready-made organizational solutions. ...

It is necessary to constantly modernize our ships for new threats. Installing new hydroacoustic stations is not such a big alteration of the ship. Visually or by radar, it is difficult to detect a low target at a distance. Especially at night or in fog. But the noise of guilt can be heard. Moreover, not a sailor in headphones should listen like 100 years ago, but automation. Determining course, speed.
And then there are visual means of guidance, and also preferably automatic, and not a sailor with a light machine gun. Installing automatic machine guns is also not such a big change to the ship if they are not on it.
Well, we need drones that determine the sources of radio emission in the sea. Drones, on the other hand, transmit a video image live in the area of attack on the target.
Only now with electronics we have long sucked. The Americans knew which industries should be destroyed first in Russia in the 90s. Electronic, aircraft, space. Now we understand the fruits of this. We cannot build banal corn with a domestic engine, of which an unmeasured number flew in the USSR. We cannot build a light aircraft, there is no engine, and in the Second World War the Soviet defense industry produced thousands of aircraft ...
But effective managers like the Rogozins screwed everything up ...
Yes, and we also cannot reproduce a similar surface drone now. There are no engines, no communication and control systems. Only torpedoes to extinguish enemy ships. Or rather, ships, the enemy no longer has ships.

We can, in principle. According to the Ukrainians, the strike on the bridge in Zatoka was also carried out by a sea drone.

It's a dark story whether the drone was there or not. Ukrainian imitation of the event for political purposes is not ruled out.
A drone without communication is money thrown into the sea. Of course, in theory, it is possible to attach Russian satellite communications to the drone, but then there will be no place left in the drone for explosives.

It's hard to disagree with you, Oleg Ogorod ... "Lost", an entire industry that dealt with aircraft engines because it was believed that the light-engine aviation of the USSR (Russia) was useless, especially in "private hands", from which, to the State, there were only "smuts" .... And, since the topics of "engines", electronics, control systems, new materials were raised By the state, it means that there are hopes for the revival of these industries (and related ones), competencies. It is a pity that much has been lost, irretrievably, in the orgy of Yeltsin-Chubais-Gaidar's "indifference", brainlessness, in which, all of us, "en masse", "participated", to one degree or another, without assuming consequences ... True, now, I don’t want to admit this, even to myself .... It’s easier to moan and reflect on the past and the lost, it’s calmer, safer and, very stately, at the moment ....

Seriously? But it’s okay that under Rogozin, regular rocket accidents at launch stopped and Roscosmos showed the longest accident-free series of launches since the times of the USSR.

First of all, we need to organize the production of Varshavyankas according to a lightweight design, reduce the displacement, install lithium batteries, and throw out the diesel as quickly as possible and install a pair of turbojet engines from the T-80, if that doesn’t work, then supercharged gasoline, for the wheelhouse you need an AK-630M and MANPADS for him and all this can be designed in a month, otherwise we’re screwed... am
