A number of foreign countries are planning to provide the Kyiv regime with F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters. It is assumed that American-made aircraft will partially make up for the losses of the Ukrainian Air Force and increase their combat capability. Probably along with aviation equipment will also be supplied with compatible weapons of various types. It is they who will eventually determine the combat qualities and the real potential of the newly transferred aircraft and units on them.

aerial platform

Any combat aircraft is actually an air platform designed for the transportation and use of air weapons (ASP). Armament acts directly on the target and determines the results of combat work. The effectiveness of ASP application, in turn, depends on the flight performance, on-board equipment and pilot training.

The American-made F-16 Fighting Falcon, regardless of modifications, is no exception. It was created as a carrier of a variety of air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons to combat a wide range of targets. With the development of the aircraft and the creation of new modifications, the range of compatible ASPs and the range of tasks to be solved gradually expanded.

Aircraft of the main serial modifications, such as the F-16C / D, have a maximum take-off weight of more than 19 tons. At the same time, the maximum combat load can exceed 8,5-9 tons. There are nine external suspension points for placing weapons: one under the fuselage, three under each plane and one at the wingtips. The ventral pylon is designed for a load of 1 ton, the inner underwing ones - more than 2 tons each. The endings, in turn, can withstand less than 200 kg.

The F-16 is capable of carrying and using all current air-to-air missiles that meet NATO standards. First of all, these are short-range AIM-9 products, as well as medium-range AIM-7 and AIM-120. A number of types of air-to-surface guided missiles can also be used - AGM-65, AGM-88, AGM-154, etc. The use of guided and free-falling bombs is envisaged. Suspension of containers with additional sighting equipment is possible.

Transferred earlier

It should be recalled that deliveries of NATO-style ASP to Ukraine began last year and continue to this day. The United States and other countries have transferred various types of guided missiles to attack ground targets, including long-range, unguided weapon etc. Also shipped several batches of bombs. Almost all of these weapons are compatible with F-16 fighters or require some integration, probably short and simple.

It was reported that AIM-7 and AIM-9 air-to-air missiles were sent to the Kyiv regime, but there was no exact information about their use with existing Soviet-style platforms. AIM-120 AMRAAM medium-range missiles were supplied, but only as part of the NASAMS anti-aircraft complex. Probably, the transferred products cannot be used on aircraft. However, now nothing prevents foreign partners from shipping AMRAAM products for aircraft.

The situation is similar with the AIM-2000 IRIS-T missile. Such products were supplied as part of the land-based air defense systems of the same name, but there is also an aviation modification. Whether foreign partners will provide the latter is unknown.

To combat Russian radars, several batches of AGM-88 HARM missiles were handed over to Ukrainian formations. Also, it was supposed to use unguided missiles Hydra 70 and Zuni for ground targets. JDAM guided bombs were supplied. All of these products have been adapted to available platforms. Getting F-16 aircraft will make them easier to use.

Not so long ago, Ukraine received and began to use Storm Shadow cruise missiles. Similar products SCALP-EG and KEPD-350 are expected to arrive. Whether the F-16s expected in the future will be able to carry and use such ASP is unclear. European missiles have not yet been officially included in the nomenclature of American fighter ammunition. However, the experience of recent months shows that the integration of new weapons is not a serious difficulty.

Together with cruise missiles, the Ukrainian Air Force used decoys ADM-160 MALD. Like other American-made missiles, these items are fully compatible with the F-16 and can be used without any special training.

Possible deliveries

Having received the F-16 fighters, the Kiev regime may request new types of compatible TSA. In addition, the United States and other foreign patron partners may be the first to come up with such an initiative and expand the range of ammunition for the Ukrainian Air Force. In this case, rockets and bombs of various types will again hit Ukraine.

In recent months, Ukrainian aviation has been unsuccessfully trying to solve mainly strike missions. Newly received F-16s with the appropriate ASPs can also be involved in such combat work. The existing range can be supplemented with guided and unguided bombs of various types. In particular, Kyiv has been asking for Mk 20 Rockeye cluster bombs for a long time. It is alleged that they are used as a source of small ammunition for UAVs, but if the appropriate platforms are available, they can also be used for their intended purpose.

Of interest to the Ukrainian Air Force is the AGM-65 missile, which is capable of hitting armored vehicles and buildings, incl. right on the battlefield. The latest modifications of this product show high performance, and in addition, they are already integrated into the F-16 weapons system.

As an addition to the Storm Shadow and other cruise missiles, American AGM-154 or AGM-158 air-to-ground products may be requested. Whether foreign countries will agree to provide such complex and expensive TSA is a big question. In addition, the negative experience with similar Storm Shadow products should be taken into account.

Last year, Ukraine received Harpoon anti-ship missiles from abroad, designed for use with ground-based launchers. The F-16 fighter can use the aviation version of this anti-ship missile - AGM-84. It is likely that the Kiev regime will be one of the first to request such a missile in order to harm the Russian Black Sea the fleet.

F-16s of all modifications are equipped with airborne radars of various models and modifications, with the help of which the search for targets and the use of weapons is carried out. To improve the ability to observe and search for various objects, hanging containers with radio or optoelectronic equipment have been developed and implemented. Third countries have not yet reported whether they are going to transfer such products to Ukraine. It is likely that such assistance is not planned at all.

Potential Threat

Deliveries of foreign F-16 fighters will allow the Ukrainian Air Force to restore part of its aircraft fleet. Together with this technique, the Kiev regime will receive some new combat capabilities. In addition, it is possible to supply new batches of ASP, incl. currently missing types. Each of these steps and their consequences can pose a potential threat to our troops and civilians.

At the same time, American F-16s and their weapons should not be overestimated. It should be expected that such aircraft and ASP will add to the work of the Russian Aerospace Forces and Air Defense, will be able to inflict some damage, but will not be able to have any effect on the overall course of events. A number of factors will contribute to this development.

First of all, it should be borne in mind that the F-16, despite all the upgrades, is a fairly old aircraft. In addition, one should not expect that Ukraine will be given the equipment of the latest modifications. All this will seriously limit the technical and combat qualities of the aircraft.

You also need to remember that over the past decades, the American Fighting Falcon has been considered as one of the typical and expected targets for our fighters, radars and air defense systems. When creating anti-aircraft and aviation weapons, the need for destruction was taken into account, incl. such fighters. Accordingly, the F-16s will not be able to operate freely in the areas of responsibility of our Aerospace Forces and Air Defense. It is very likely that some of the aircraft will be hit even before the drop of weapons.

Suspension of the AGM-158B rocket on the F-16 pylon. Photo by the US Department of Defense

Ukraine has already received a number of foreign ASPs, and such products have not lived up to expectations. Thus, there is no reliable information about the use of air-to-air missiles, while Ukrainian aviation suffered heavy losses as a result of air battles. AGM-88 anti-radar missiles turned out to be obsolete and do not cope with the tasks. Our air defense has learned how to shoot down long-range cruise missiles, and their carriers are also intercepted.

It is unlikely that foreign partners will transfer the latest and most advanced TSA to the Kyiv regime. Accordingly, the fight against such a threat will not be a particularly difficult task, although it will require certain efforts on the part of the air defense and other branches of the military.

old script

Foreign states are only going to supply F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, but the results of this process are generally clear. The Kiev regime will receive a limited number of such equipment, and its deliveries may stretch over time. We should also expect new deliveries of aviation weapons, and also not large and not one-time.

The fate of the equipment planned for transfer is generally understandable and predictable. The Russian army will use various means to destroy aircraft on the ground and in the air, as well as to prevent the use of weapons. Limited volumes and rates of deliveries will simplify such work to some extent. Probably, abroad they understand what awaits the transferred equipment and weapons, but they are not going to abandon their plans. The reasons for this have long been known and understood.

All the same, UR explosives are much more difficult to combine with avionics than air-to-surface means, if only because they often have enough target coordinates entered on the ground. So the F-16s will become much more dangerous for our aircraft than the 27th and 29th Ukrainians.

Everyone will supply. But not immediately, the task of the anti-Russian coalition is to drag out the NWO as long as possible. So the weapons are being delivered gradually - so that the Russian army has time to adapt.

This is if only free-falling bombs under the "VP" weapon are meant, or JDAM
TERCOM /DISMAC very large amounts of data. The flight task is entered into tomahawks for 30-40 minutes (there are only 15 targets you can enter new ones).
AIM-132 ASRAAM, IRIS-T, AIM-9 Sidewinder radar illumination is not needed.
NATO has the rest, almost all of them are with the ARGSN: there is a "shoot there" mode. The flight task correction mode is only for the last 120 x and it is not mandatory.
The MIG-29 radar can illuminate (the frequencies are all the same), only it is short-armed and will not reveal the potential of the AIM-120 *
Adapting them to the MIG -29 is quite simple: convert digital data about the CC from the radar and the positioning of the carrier (+ weather conditions) from "Soviet" to NATO.

It is easier to train pilots if you already have experience flying, say, the MiG-29, at least some base. Ground personnel will have to be trained from scratch, the experience in servicing the MiG-29 is never applicable. And we need more of them, this is not the Yak-7, which was enough for one mechanic and one gunsmith, here a whole team is needed for each aircraft. And without qualified service, if they fly, then for a very short time, and not necessarily as expected. Moreover, cars "with mileage", they need to "scratch their belly" very gently and with knowledge of the matter, so that they agree to fly.

Do you want to say that if a maintenance workshop, say BMW, switches to servicing MB, then everyone needs to be retrained from scratch? Aircraft technician, there is an aircraft technician. Of course, it will be necessary to learn a lot of new things, but I don’t see any problem in this, especially since at first they will be assisted by experienced technicians from the west, the same Poland.

What does the Yak 7 have to do with it?)) Does the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine fly on the Yak 7? F 16 is also popular because it is very reliable and easy to maintain, and the Mig 29 is much simpler, including due to automation and simplified maintenance due to diagnostics. Ukraine is actually one of the countries producing modern aircraft, albeit civilian ones, but still has a lot of competent aviation technical personnel. So there will be no problems with the operation or maintenance of the F-16, we must proceed from this, and not hope that the Taras and Panas will screw up the donated aircraft.

        Especially cars "with mileage"

Again the mantra about the "junk" that the West "shoves" the Hoh-lam? The huge mass of the F-16, although with mileage, is in perfect condition. In addition, we should expect a large mass of the F-16, and possibly the F-18, it is quite possible that the figure may exceed 2-3 hundreds of aircraft of these types. Due to the transition of many countries to the F-35, which replace the F-16, F-18, and this will create in the near future a glut of the market for combat aircraft with used, but in excellent condition, aircraft of these types, which in such a situation will be difficult to sell, and here is a great opportunity to sell the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine at a bargain price, especially when funding is guaranteed by the United States. If a couple of AWACS are thrown to these 200-300 F-16/18, then the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will become a very formidable opponent for the Russian Aerospace Forces.

Yes, of course, he can turn nuts. But there is no knowledge of what specifically on the F-16 of a particular nut block in what sequence and with what tool to twist and instantly "at the behest" cannot be obtained, one must learn. In America, training from a recruit to a technician takes a couple of years, and this is without a language barrier. And especially for Taras and Panas, no one will organize courses in the sovereign language and will not translate the documentation. So you will have to start with English courses, and this is at least six months even for those who took English at school.

You are confusing the training of a young man after school as an aircraft engineer, with retraining, or advanced training of an already experienced aircraft technician, of which there are a lot in the aircraft manufacturing country of Ukraine. In this case, the training will be no longer than 3 months, especially since the familiarization and development of the F-16 by both pilots and technical staff has been going on since last summer, in Germany, at the American air base in Stuttgart, in my opinion, this is like an open secret. The language barrier is not a problem at all from the word at all. Text documentation is translated with one click of the mouse today, if necessary, but in aviation everything is already in English. I know firsthand what it means to launch parallel production (and not just maintenance) of technologically complex products in other countries, this is done quite quickly. Moreover, the Ukrainians are already ready to accept the F-16, as they have been preparing for this for a long time. What is really difficult and can lead to problems, like the loss of an aircraft, or friendly fire in battle, is the development of tactics of use, the effectiveness of the use of radar and weapons of the F-16. But Ukrainians will be able to fly and maintain F-16s as soon as they receive them.

Which will naturally play in our favor. But the presence of a limited number of F-16s and possibly other aircraft will not play a decisive role either as a fighter or as a platform for new types of weapons. Although they can cause trouble.

Unlike the Leo2 F-16, there is a lot in stock, and if the goal is to form an effective Air Force based on this aircraft, then it is unlikely that there will be so few of them that they will not play a big role. Just the goal is for the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to play a significant role than until now periodically.

Everything there can cause a lot of trouble.
For starters, Kharma can begin to use it more efficiently, the F16 SEAD operations have been worked out for a long time.
They can strengthen air defense, CR and slow UAVs for F16 with Volcano, AIM120 / AIM7 and AIM9 / Iris are convenient targets.
They can start working "on the ground", from guided long-range weapons to "iron bombs", in general, F16 did this in the first Gulf War.

They will not get into fights with our Air Force, we will not be so lucky. IMHO, F16 will not even fly close to LBS at first.

The inconvenient thing is that many places will become available to the APU with F16, even with iron bombs, and this will have to be taken into account. Saddam with the reactor could confirm (Operation Opera).

And even more trouble is that the NATO doctrine, in principle, relied on air supremacy and in terms of air defense and in terms of work on the ground.
The APU "cluster air defense based on the Patriots, NASAMS and IRIST" is, by and large, "NATO impromptu". As well as support in ground operations on artillery and MLRS (which had to be urgently assembled around the world).
From the point of view of logistics, the F16 will be the cheapest option for the NATO suppliers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for which there are many TSAs and aircraft, and Poland is nearby, which can carry out maintenance on the basis of its F16s.
The main problem is the staff.
But, IMHO, in the Armed Forces Foreign Legion you can find a couple of dozen peppy pensioners or retirees / vacationers who are "to death" tired of flying / serving on F16 in exercises and hunting to "play with death". And they will train their pilots / technicians of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Hmm, well, the analogy is true to some extent.
Instead of "Afghanistan 2.0 at maximum speed" with Javelins and Stingers, the Armed Forces of Ukraine suddenly began to use "foreign gestures of goodwill." And to the proposals "learn to jump from a tower - pour water into the pool" (in the sense of "learn how to conduct a database against the second army of the world"), the Armed Forces of Ukraine readily began to "jump into a pool without water" with the question "how deep do you need to dive" (in the sense of running on BT with Molotov cocktails, etc.).

So IMHO, "they will pour water" undoubtedly, if only it does not splash too much outside the pool. Even the cautious Japanese have decided which side they are on and are slowly testing the "depth of the pool" with old cars. And even the Swiss - for two centuries they have kept aloof from any databases - are also trying to "tie up" with neutrality.

I think the supply of aviation armament aircraft will be announced first of all with an increased assistance package. Aviation ammunition, more expensive than combined arms, as a rule, is an order of magnitude. So far, a huge infusion of funds is not visible. The supply of decommissioned vehicles does not solve anything at all, a whole complex is needed, and this is already a huge amount of money

There is the F-16 generation, there is the MIG-29, there is the F-18, there is the SU-27. In huge or large quantities. There are pilots who came to these planes. Came young and are now retiring. So let them meet in battle and prove that they are the best and their planes are the best. The best end of a warrior is death in battle for the homeland. As I understand it, based on the supply of other weapons, that the F-16 is already on the territory of Ukraine, now the assembly and diagnostics of the delivered F-16 kits are underway, the final preparation of the placement sites. The application technique itself is not considered here, so as not to give reasons The effectiveness of all this, of course will depend on how quickly the air defense of the RF Armed Forces works, whether it will be overloaded with drones and decoys, available intelligence, allowing you to redeploy your significant objects and raise the air force into the air to reduce losses.

See how consistently and submissively we put up with the growing supply of Western weapons to Ukraine.
First they swallowed the humanitarian aid.
On the TV orgies of Shapiro (Soloviev's maiden name), they squealed that we would not allow the supply of small arms.
    Allowed.
Then they briefly discussed the three axes and the Caesars.
    Ukroreikh received them instantly.
No reaction from the authorities (at least they cut off the gas to the adversary).
Then Shapiro yells that the tanks will not be delivered.
They put it on, and they burn quite well on the fat black soil.
Then came the news about rockets, hymars, storm shadows.
Despite the cries of ohanota from the TV of the brothel, they set everything up, and with the help of these weapons, civilians of Donbass are being killed.
    Absorbed.
Then they talked for a long time about the impossibility of delivering F16 to Ukraine.
Now even Shapiro does not argue about this.
The discussion boils down to discussing the types of missiles that these planes will be armed with, "whether some storm shadow that descended from the F16 pylon will reach the Kremlin."

At the same time, Western guests come to Kyiv, Zelensky often visits well-known addresses, in offices.
    But nothing happens.

    What is this?
Someone on Olympus hopes that after the deliveries of the rifle / M777 / L2 / Scalp / F16, and so on the rise, we will be called for negotiations?

They (the authorities of Kyiv) clearly outlined their conditions - the surrender of territories by Russia, reparations, sending our leaders to The Hague.

What goals are shown to us?
    Denazification?
And where is it supposed to end?
Should there be a capitulation of the Zelensky regime?
PS then Zelensky will ask to remove the restriction on the range of the supplied missiles, and Shapiro / Solovyov and Skpbeikha will sing, which was intended.
