Anti-aircraft small-caliber automated art complex "Mesbah-1" (Iran)

23
The Mesbah-1 Iranian anti-aircraft gun is a short-range system for providing short-range protection. The main purpose is to defeat enemy air objects at low and very low altitudes.

Mesbah-1 was created by Iranian designers on the basis of the Soviet paired anti-aircraft gun of the 23mm caliber ZU-23-2. It is a continuation of the work of the previously created ZAC "Mesbah", tentatively developed at the beginning of 2000. It had three settings of the ZU-23-2 type (6 trunks). There is no data on the introduction into service and production.

Anti-aircraft small-caliber automated art complex "Mesbah-1" (Iran)

The Mesbah-1 anti-aircraft art complex consists of four ZU-23-2 installations with a total number of shafts in 8 units. The complex includes an SLA, a three-dimensional radar station (control module).

For the first time, the Mesbah-1 system was talked about in 2010, when it was presented during a demonstration of the Mersad air defense system, which was being tested and tested at that time. The system will become part of the air defense units and will provide air defense protection of the infrastructures, military units, personnel and equipment from cruise missiles, rockets, helicopters, UAVs and low-flying aircraft. Approximately in 2010, mass production began. The artillery system, consisting of eight paired two artillery pieces, is made on the rotating part, and mounted on the wheel run. Each of the four systems of the ZU-23-2 type is provided with its own ammunition supply system. Articulated rate of fire of the 8 000 anti-aircraft artillery system r / min.

The Mesbah-1 has a four-wheeled wide stroke from the Samavat anti-aircraft installation of the 23mm caliber and is moved by a military truck.

Before combat deployment, the artillery system is installed on three pillars, and the wheel travel is folded. The anti-aircraft artillery complex is fully integrated with radar guidance and surveillance systems and optical-electronic devices. They are installed on the roof of a separately towed cabin (module). The radar and optical sensors of the control module are used for automatic detection and guidance of the art complex and determination of targets (friend or foe). The data is transmitted to the equipment of the fire control system, which automatically directs the guns of the complex to the target. The guns are guided automatically by drives. Shooting takes place in an automated mode, on the radar. This decision reduces human losses in the defeat of the artillery complex, since the control of the guns does not require combat crews.

Anti-aircraft art complex provided "Planar Radar Array" which provides the detection of air targets such as "rocket" at distances up to 30 kilometers. Additional equipment - backup control and guidance system. When operating only optical systems, the art complex is able to detect targets at a distance of 10 kilometers. The OMS begins to direct guns after reaching the goals of the 10 km zone. For 20 seconds before entering the zone of action of the anti-aircraft art complex, the control module will decide whether or not to hit the target.

Key Features:
- artillery system - 4 ZSU "ZU-23-2";
- number of stems - 8 units;
- caliber - 23mm;
- range of fire - 3 km;
- the height of the target being hit - 2 kilometer;
- horizontal pointing angles - 360 degrees;
- rate of fire - 8 000 vyst / min;
- installed equipment: Planar Radar Array radar, optoelectronic equipment.

    8 trunks - 2 shilka .... Density of fire should not be weak ... Everything depends on the SLA ...

          Similar. I asked because this is the norm. a working machine, not a wunderwaffe

      I do not agree with you a very interesting thing! Aircraft certainly will not fly so low, but having drunk cruise missiles just right smile

        Maybe they won't, although this is a controversial matter, but there will definitely be helicopters! And if the trunks are lowered lower, then ground targets will not seem a little. When he served (in the early seventies), in the neighboring unit (air defense), there were art. installations with a guidance vehicle (kung in the "Ural" with a parabolic antenna). A cable was connected to each gun and they simultaneously shifted their trunks. In the distance there was a road on the embankment, so they accompanied the cars, they probably trained.

    It seems that before putting it all together, they saw enough of Hollywood, although if it honestly ... it looks scary, and the rate of fire ..... frankly, it’s better to look at such a miracle from a distance from afar.

      And the rotor of the gun jammed and the gun got up. And here he pereklinitsya in the feed to one of the double-barrels, 6 more trunks will remain.

    For Iran, a similar option is the most. This ZU-23X8 certainly can not be compared with guns GSH or a volcano, but in the end, everything is better than nothing. Looks like Iran had a good supply of ZUSheks in warehouses, so they redid it. In any case, outwardly looks solid!

    For close combat, that’s it. And ZSU and Mini gun 6 barrels - If desired, you can knock down Everything you get. The total mass of salvo will not stand even a tank am And especially to them for the defense of the country wink

    It is expensive simply. And complicated. This is the main reason, in my opinion.
    Very reminiscent of ZPU-4.

    For modern electronics, dealing with a battery of such toys placed at a range sufficient for remote control is not a problem at all. It is possible to provide a solid obstruction light without any special losses l \ s.

    I think the Iranians are now working on all possible options for using everything that is in the bins.

      Nothing is complicated. Gatling came up with it in the 19th century. It's just that they still have not reached the level of the 19th century.

    In my opinion, the car is neither "there" nor "here." .. "There" ...- Range .... This anti-aircraft gun works well for a long time on snipers and remote fortified targets ... (Does not work on air ( well, the experience over the past 30 years has not been special ...) But its advantages are in full mechanics without servos and batteries (if the electronic kapets will work for all devices). "Here" - the drone will shoot this miracle far beyond the radius of destruction of this installation .. I will not talk about the Apache ... if Tunguska gets it and that's good ...

      ok, under-shell turned out. It seems that the main task of this unit is to protect objects from helicopters, KR and UAVs that will still be forced to approach the target at a low altitude, and other complexes will be waiting for them at altitudes.

      those. he will spend his ammunition on punching a hole in an air defense system, and not on attacking an object. it seems to me that the cost of a nuclear power plant is thousands of times greater than the cost of this ZUSHKA

      Have you heard about the "Afghan" version of "Shilka"?
      The RPK was dismantled (stupidly, in a repair company) - the standard ammunition was increased to 4 thousand. Especially gifted people drove 6 thousand, tulle boxes with equipped ribbons in any free hole (infa from the ensign, who was there for 10 years, accompanied by columns, rode "Shilka").

    In the performance characteristics of this "product" there is not enough time to reload these 8 barrels, it would be interesting.

      I have never seen such a standard, but I am a sailor, not a Marine Corps. Here's how to guide: for each barrel tape of 50 rounds, "hot" barrel replacement - 20 seconds for an average calculation, rate of fire per barrel - 1000 v / m.
      Conclusion: in the presence of a normal control system, it is possible to create a "window of guaranteed defeat" for completing the shot that slipped through the long and middle air defense lines. You can scoff at the 23mm caliber, but for that. to break the GOS KR - it's enough.
      Good luck to the Persians. wink
      PS IMHO, you can use the experience of pshek or our similar experience: combine the memory and two MANPADS "Igla" (our version) or "Strela -2m" (for psheks)

    I can be mistaken, but in my opinion it’s an attempt to compensate for the low accuracy and bad horsepower of the guidance system by increasing the number of trunks. It seems that the lag in electronics makes you know ...
