Tactics and humanitarian mission. Features of the Russian Special Operation
The special military operation to protect Donbass, demilitarize and denazify Ukraine continues successfully and is gradually approaching its completion. Obtaining the desired results and achieving the set goals is facilitated by the use of the right strategies and tactics, the choice of which best suits the current conditions and tasks. In addition, humanitarian issues have not been forgotten.
Goals and objectives
Reportedly, the current special operation of the Russian army has several main goals. The main one is the protection of the newly recognized republics of Donbass from the expected aggression of the Ukrainian armed forces and other formations. In addition, it was necessary to restore the territorial integrity of the republics within their former borders by ousting the enemy from the occupied areas.
The main way to protect the Donbass was the demilitarization of Ukraine. It is necessary to disarm, suppress or destroy Ukrainian units and formations that pose an immediate or potential danger to the LPR and DPR. These tasks are being solved by force - through the Special Operations of the Russian army with the involvement of the troops of the two young republics.
As part of the Special Operation, the task of protecting the Ukrainian civilian population was also set. All activities are planned taking into account the exclusion of civilian losses. Also, steps are needed to protect the population from the actions of Ukrainian armed groups and crime. Normal life is being restored in the controlled territories due to the necessary assistance.
One of the tasks of the Special Operations, in which the armed forces also participate, is the search and capture of war criminals for subsequent trial and fair punishment. We are talking about both individuals at all levels of the current Ukrainian government, and entire organizations.
All the tasks assigned to the operation are of a certain complexity, and their solution requires special approaches. At the same time, the implementation of some tasks can make it difficult to achieve other goals, especially in a constantly changing environment. Nevertheless, the Russian command, planning the future Special Operation, found the necessary ideas and tactics.
In preparation
Obviously, over the past years, the Russian army and special services have been closely monitoring the situation in the Donbass and Ukraine with all available methods. Due to this, our military learned in a timely manner about all changes in the situation, threats and risks. The plans and actions of the Ukrainian army were also revealed.
To better understand the situation and potential risks, information about civilian and military infrastructure was to be collected. Due to the deterioration of the situation in the Donbass, observed in recent months, all this information had to be used when planning the Special Operation.
At the same time, the intelligence structures showed themselves in the best possible way - this is already evident in the course and intermediate results of the operation. Using intelligence data, it was possible to determine the range of targets for several successive waves of missile strikes and the optimal offensive paths for taking territories under control. In addition, intelligence has revealed the weaknesses of the Ukrainian group in the Donbass.
Missile aftermath
The special military operation began with a massive strike with ship-based, ground-based and, presumably, air-based high-precision missiles. Several dozen missiles already in the first hours destroyed a large number of various military facilities, including control centers, air defense systems, airfields and weapons depots.
The first strikes succeeded in disrupting the systems and control loops of the Ukrainian troops, as well as destroying a significant part of the stockpiles of weapons, fuel and lubricants, etc. Attacks on radar stations “blinded” the Ukrainian air defense, and then began the destruction of its firepower. The Air Force and Navy, after such an impact, actually ceased to exist as a real force.
Missile strikes have several long-term effects. First of all, they are associated with the destruction of most of the warehouses with supplies of various kinds. In this regard, the Ukrainian army is already facing a shortage of fuel, and a shortage of ammunition is expected soon. This leads to an obvious reduction in combat capability.
The psychological effect of such strikes should also be taken into account. They showed that Russia has the most modern weapons with the highest potential, and the Ukrainian army has nothing to answer this. However, it is not yet clear how many Ukrainian servicemen have decided to lay down their arms, surrender or desert after disarming and demoralizing strikes.
Land offensive
It is obvious that missile strikes alone will not be able to solve all the problems. Therefore, a large grouping of ground forces, supported by other branches of the armed forces, is involved in combat work. From the very beginning of the Special Operation, she constantly moves forward, disarms or destroys the enemy, and also takes control of new areas and settlements.
As can be judged from open data, the current operation uses the most modern ideas and techniques. Thus, the offensive is carried out by a large number of battalion tactical groups of mixed composition, including Tanks, motorized riflemen, artillery, etc. The ground units are supported by the army aviation. If necessary, BTGs combine into larger formations to block the enemy and inflict defeat on him. The offensive comes from several directions, which ensures the dissection of the enemy into smaller groups.
The current Special Operation is characterized by a fairly rapid advance deep into enemy territory. It is achieved both due to the high maneuverability of the BTG, and due to the absence of serious resistance in a number of areas. In other areas, incl. in large settlements, the offensive slows down, but does not stop. At the same time, the ground grouping demonstrates superiority over the enemy in equipment, skills, moral qualities, etc.
It should be noted that taking control of settlements can be quite difficult. The army has to overcome enemy resistance and take into account the specifics of urban battles. In addition, the situation is complicated by the need to save the civilian population and civilian infrastructure.
Humanitarian mission
Immediately after taking territories and settlements under control, law enforcement is organized and the necessary assistance is provided to the population. In particular, recently the controlled territories began to receive humanitarian aid in the form of a wide range of supplies. Also, the forces of local structures and Russian units are restoring the damaged civilian infrastructure for the speedy return of people to their usual lives.
During the Special Operation, Russian and Republican troops regularly take enemy fighters prisoner; some give up on their own. In captivity, they are met with an emphatically humane attitude - prisoners receive shelter and food, medical care, etc. If the prisoner is not related to war crimes, after the end of the operation he will be sent home.
It should be noted that humanitarian issues are resolved not only in the controlled territories, but also on the front line. Ukrainian armed formations of a nationalist persuasion, understanding their prospects, are trying to hide behind the population. In residential buildings, incl. firing points and positions, equipment, etc. are placed directly in the houses. In addition, fire is being fired on residential areas in order to blame the Russian troops.
The nationalists actually use the inhabitants of the cities as hostages and human shields. The Russian army is forced to take this circumstance into account and adjust its plans. Operations of local significance have to be carried out in such a way as to fulfill the main task and exclude damage to the population.
The example of several liberated cities shows that such tasks are quite solvable. At the same time, the need to organize humanitarian corridors, rework plans, etc. leads to some delay in the operation. Also, unfortunately, the risks for our soldiers and officers are growing. However, all this allows you to save the local population, both from death in battle and from problems in the future.
Interim results
Within the framework of the Special Military Operation, the armed forces and other structures of Russia and the two republics of Donbass have been assigned a number of rather complex tasks of a military and humanitarian nature. As you can see, they successfully cope with them. Strike groups move forward, inflict damage on the enemy and take control of new areas and settlements. Meanwhile, in the controlled areas, active work is underway to help the population.
All these processes show that the Russian army is able and able to solve a wide range of tasks, typical for recent conflicts. It has the means to deliver remote strikes and is able to successfully fight in direct contact with the enemy. The necessary work with the civilian population is also provided. This means that the current Special Operation has every chance of a successful completion - with the complete demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, as well as with virtually no damage to its population.
