155 mm self-propelled howitzer "Primus SSPH 1" (Singapore)

11
The howitzer was developed in 1990-ies for fire support of armored vehicles of combined-arms units. The howitzer was created as a modern technology, capable of performing the tasks, while possessing the necessary modern combat and mobile characteristics. During the development of the Primus project, a study was conducted of the best self-propelled guns at that time - МХNUMX Paladin, AS109 Braveheart, Japanese Type 90, 75S2M3. The choice did not accidentally fall on the 1mm gun - as experience with the use of such guns abroad has shown, this is the optimal solution for achieving the required characteristics of a combat gun.

The Singapore Armed Forces required a self-propelled gun up to 30 tons, a width of no more than 3 meters for movement through local bridges and vegetation. Research has helped to make a decision about own development of the new howitzer on the track.

ST Kinetics, together with DSTA, are starting to build self-propelled guns in the 1996 year. Engineers already had experience in development and creation of towed artillery systems and howitzers of the type “FH-88” and “FH-2000”.

By the summer of 2000, a prototype self-propelled howitzer was built. The gun installed on the chassis "UCVP" (universal combat platform). The chassis included components from the M109 Paladin gun, the M2 Bradley and M8-AGS infantry fighting vehicles. Over the next two years, self-propelled howitzers were tested. Fire tests took place in New Zealand in 2004 year.

In the autumn of 2002, the Primus self-propelled howitzer was found suitable according to the requirements. The Primus self-propelled howitzer is being adopted by Singapore’s 21 artillery battalion.

The chassis is based on a universal platform, on which the American M109 self-propelled howitzer is built. Also, some systems and units from the BMP "Bionix" were used, which only simplifies the training of personnel and repair capability. Crawler chassis with seven track rollers.

The engine used diesel "6V 92TIA" power 550 hp The transmission is automatic. Howitzer movement speed - up to 50 km / h. The range is up to 350 kilometers. Total weight - tons of tons. All this allows you to use the machine in the Singapore troops to ensure the set of modern combat missions. Transportation of the SSPH 28.3 is possible with the help of the Airbus A1M transport aircraft.

The turret carries the 155mm howitzer gun with a muzzle brake and an extractor. The firing range of an ordinary projectile is up to 19 kilometers, with a special projectile up to 30 kilometers. Used ammunition - high-explosive, armor-piercing, smoke and lighting.

Charging - semi-automatic type. The rate of firing is three shots per minute, maximum - up to 6-minute shots per minute. Shooting control system - digital. It tracks all available ammunition, as well as its consumption during the shooting. Installed navigation equipment. Digital equipment ensures that information from the command center is received and processed within 60 seconds.

The main characteristics of the self-propelled howitzer "Primus SSPH 1":
- full weight - 28.3 tones;
- crew - three people;
- engine power - HP 550;
- travel speed up to 50 km / h;
- range to 350 kilometers;
- caliber guns - 155mm;
- additional weapons - 7.62mm machine gun
- hovering angle horizontal / horizontal - (-3) + 85 / 360 degrees;
- mobile ammunition - 90 ammunition;
- rate of fire to 6-ti / min;
- range of destruction to 30 kilometers;

      Yes, too, such a question arose. The author does not give acceptable performance characteristics of either the exit / entry angle or the allowable roll. Those performance characteristics that are given are very mediocre. Judging by the photo, the center of gravity can fall very high. In general, the article is mediocre, some kind of reprint from the news, without elaboration of the material, only a couple of photos added

    Here they were crying in the topic about "PAT-B" about the inadequacy of 15 km range for the LIGHT mobile howitzer, here - the self-propelled guns - only 19. And where in this kero gas will fit 90 shots ?? Maybe they mastered the breakdown into another dimension and keep them there ??

        My friend, you would write your own comment more clearly - maybe I would understand why I should look at the map and which one.
