As part of the current State Armaments Programs, the re-equipment of key branches of the armed forces continues. In these processes, special attention is paid to the modernization of the aerospace forces. Plans for the beginning of 2021 provide for the purchase of a large number of new aircraft and the modernization of existing equipment, as well as the rearmament of air defense units.

100 units

On December 21, a regular expanded meeting of the Collegium of the Ministry of Defense took place, the topic of which was the results of the outgoing 2020 and plans for the new 2021. During the event, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu indicated that in the new year in terms of the air force and naval aviation more than 100 aircraft and helicopters of various types will arrive - both new construction and modernized ones.

More precise data on the types and proportions of new and updated vehicles have not yet been published. At the same time, there is information about the implementation of existing contracts and plans for new ones. This information allows us to present the processes of modernization of the videoconferencing in the new year.

The first Tu-160M of a new construction during roll-out, 2017. This year it will be handed over to the VKS

Of greatest interest are the supplies of the 5th generation Su-57 serial fighters. At the end of December, the Air Force accepted the first aircraft of this type, and in 2021 the transfer of new machines is expected. The number of boards is unknown, but so far it will not be large. Achievement of high rates of production, allowing to fulfill the approved plans, is expected only by the middle of the decade.

In the recent past, it was reported that in 2021 the first Tu-160M missile carrier of modern construction would be handed over to the troops. In the same year, it is planned to launch mass production, due to which in the future long-range aviation will receive 50 completely new aircraft.

In 2020, the aviation industry completed several long-term contracts for the production of front-line aircraft of various types. During the Army 2020 forum, it was announced that these contracts will be followed by new ones. Already in 2021, orders for the following batches of Su-30SM and Su-35S fighters, Su-34 bombers and Yak-130 combat training aircraft are expected to appear.

The volumes and cost of such contracts have not yet been announced. Domestic media, referring to anonymous sources, wrote about limited quantities of equipment, no more than 30-40 units. These orders will only take a few years to complete, but it is not yet clear whether the first contract aircraft will be delivered by the end of 2021.

Experienced Mi-8AMTSh-VN helicopter for Aerospace Forces and SSO

In the interests of the military transport aviation, the serial construction of the Il-76MD-90A aircraft continues. Last year, three such machines were taken into the air, and in the near future they will all enter the Air Force. In the spring of 2020, the Ministry of Defense and the Aviastar-SP plant revised the terms of cooperation, resulting in a new contract for the supply of 14 Il-76MD-90A aircraft in 2021-28. The first machines of this order can be delivered to the customer this year.

Several major aircraft modernization programs are underway. One of the main ones is the overhaul and renovation of the MiG-31 interceptors under the BM project. The current work is carried out under a 2019 contract, the implementation of which will continue until 2023 and will lead to a complete renewal of the interceptor fleet.

Helicopter update

In 2021, the construction of several types of helicopters will continue under existing contracts. In addition, deliveries of new models of machines are expected within the framework of new orders, as well as preparations for the launch of new series.

One of the first Mi-28NM to be tested

One of the most interesting novelties will be the Mi-8AMTSh-VN transport and combat helicopters, which the Aerospace Forces will use to support the activities of the Special Operations Forces. Contract for 10 units. such equipment was signed at the "Army-2019", and by now part of the work has been completed. The customer will receive new helicopters during the year. In the future, the next contract for an unnamed quantity of such equipment should appear.

Also at "Army-2019" a contract was signed for the supply of 98 Mi-28NM attack helicopters in the period from 2020 to 2027. Last year, under this contract, two aircraft were built and handed over to the Air Force. According to the schedule, this year the industry will hand over three more. With the help of these helicopters, the army will work out the issues of combat use and train instructors. Already in 2022-23. a sharp increase in production rates is expected - for the implementation of a full-fledged rearmament.

Air defense plans

The process of rearming the air and missile defense forces as part of the Aerospace Forces continues. The other day, the Ministry of Defense revealed the details of updating the material part last year and announced plans for the new 2021st. So, in 2020, the Aerospace Forces received and distributed between the units four regimental sets of S-400 air defense systems, as well as 24 Pantsir-S1 missile and gun systems. The first air defense system of the new type S-350 was transferred to the training center.

This year, the first regiment, re-equipped with the S-350 Vityaz system, will take up combat duty. In the coming years, a similar modernization of a number of parts is planned. It is argued that the receipt of S-350 products will significantly increase the potential of air defense for several types of targets.

SAM S-350 "Vityaz", transferred to the training center of the air defense-missile defense forces in early 2020

The production of the S-400 Triumph systems will continue. Industry will hand over two regimental kits this year. With their help, the obsolete type of air defense system will be replaced.

Acceptance of 2021 Pantsir-S18 air defense missile systems is scheduled for 1. In parallel with their production, the development of the updated Pantsir-SM complex continues. Perhaps this year the first order for the supply of such equipment will appear. It is curious that Pantsir-SM can be used not only in the Aerospace Forces. Earlier it was reported about the development of its modification for the ground forces - such an air defense system will be able to work as part of military air defense and cover air defense systems of other types.

At the end of November, it became known about the imminent completion of work on the promising S-500 Prometey air defense system; this will happen in 2021. In addition, it was reported about the launch of serial production of such equipment by the end of 2020. Whether it was possible to fulfill the designated plans is unknown.

Plans and opportunities

According to the plans of the Ministry of Defense, this year the Aerospace Forces should receive more than a hundred new and modernized aircraft and helicopters, as well as a large number of equipment for the air defense and missile defense forces. Such deliveries will expand the combat capabilities of individual units of the Air Force and air defense-missile defense, as well as increase the share of modern models - which will also affect the overall combat capability of the armed forces.

Complexes S-400 "Triumph" air defense formations of the Central Military District, transferred in 2020

Unfortunately, not everything goes smoothly, and the production of weapons and equipment faces various problems. There are objective factors and negative coincidences of circumstances that prevent the rapid and full implementation of all plans. So, the production schedule for Su-57 fighters was negatively affected by the accident at the end of 2019, and the pace of construction of the Il-76MD-90A still does not allow for a complete re-equipment of military transport aircraft within a reasonable time frame.

However, the interaction of the defense industry, represented by the mass of enterprises and the Ministry of Defense, leads to obvious positive consequences for the aerospace forces. State armaments program 2011-2020 for the VKS ended in success. The share of modern models has been brought to 75%, and now it becomes possible to reduce the rate of rearmament. This will reduce costs, but at the same time maintain and systematically build up combat effectiveness, taking into account new threats and challenges.

Thus, the processes of modernization of the videoconferencing continue and give the desired results. It follows from the well-known plans of the Ministry of Defense that the new 2021 will continue this trend and will have a positive effect on the general state of the Aerospace Forces - and with them on all the armed forces.

Uh-huh. But each "objective factor" and "negative coincidence of circumstances" has a name, surname and patronymic. But the carriers of these names, as a rule, are "their own people", and they don't abandon their own people, right?

Why is there accurate information on the Tu-160! 10 new aircraft will be built (completely new 9 and 1 using the old reserve in the form of a center section, we do not consider the aircraft for static tests, it also uses the old reserve). New (1 not entirely new) will take off in late 2021! Four Tu-160M2 vehicles are to be transferred to the Aerospace Forces by 2023, and all 10 by the end of 2027. There are no other signed contracts for the Tu-160M2. 10 Tu-160 combat aircraft will also be upgraded to Tu-160M. Contract signed...

A question to this. And what about chainsaws, power tools, snowmobiles, quadriks, snow blowers, and so on, did all this get into the troops in sufficient quantities, or how did everyone "give birth" before?

This is a very important question indeed. You know, your daily service depends on it. When I served as an urgent, I could not provide the rear with paws and brooms. Usually some handy conscript did them. The grass was mowed with some crazy old blunt scythe. The officers themselves stirred up tools and every little thing like screwdrivers. In the army, unfortunately, the selenium principle is "die, give birth, steal!" Stenshpzeta what would the officers throw off the article and bought banners, paints, colored paper. Well, isn't it a shame?

In 2021, the Ministry of Defense should receive already 4 Su 57. And this pleases the pace of production growing.

At the final collegium of the Ministry of Defense on December 21, the head of the military department Sergei Shoigu announced plans to receive 2020 Su-22s by the end of 57. According to him, by 2028, their number in the Aerospace Forces will be brought to 76 units.

As reported on January 16, 2019 by the TASS news agency, the second contract for the production and supply of Su-57 fighters, involving the transfer of 13 such machines to the Aerospace Forces (VKS), is planned to be signed in 2020. This was announced on Wednesday by TASS by a source in the aircraft industry. Under the first contract, two fifth-generation aircraft will enter the troops in 2019-2020.

A stationary batch of Su-57 fighters is planned to be delivered to the Ministry of Defense in 2020, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said.

"In 2020, it is planned to supply aircraft from the pilot batch, and in the future, to significantly increase the volume," Interfax quoted him as saying.

They are really going to increase the volume, as much as 4 times ...

In general, in fact, the panicky update of the Air Force materiel, which has not received new materiel since 1993, has been completed. Now the need for the supply of new equipment is lower, but there is a need for maintenance and repair of the existing one. For example, the Algerian MiG-29SMT that accidentally flew into Kursk is already 10 years old (now they seem to be in storage). For 8-10 years the oldest Su-34 and a pack of 12 Su-27SM3 completed from the remnants of the Chinese order in 2012. My forecast is that small-scale aircraft will be sold somewhere, or transferred as part of aid. At the same time, the first serial Su-35s began to appear. Su-30SM went in large batches since 2014, but I have a suspicion that, unlike purely combat Su-35, the resource of which should be saved, the Su-30SM is used both as combat and as combat training, which means to drive sivku should be extremely intensive, and in the coming years the first cars will go for overhaul.

Not so long ago we got a random or not very good photo of the stand at KnaAZ with plans to supply the Su-35 to various customers. According to it, it turns out that the native MO in 2021 will receive 5 pieces. Apparently, 30 pieces were actually contracted, which will be made in parallel with export orders, after which they will switch to the Su-57.

What is unclear to me is the delivery of the Ka-52, there were no plans there, but the Ka-52M is hardly ready for mass production. The plant should not stand, it will cost more than the continuation of the production of what is now available.

In general, it becomes more difficult for spies to work, at the beginning and middle of the 2010s and 80s the Ministry of Defense was very willing to report all contracts, which is logical, since many people still think that the army is still on the Soviet-built BTR-29 travels and flies the last MiG-XNUMX, now there are much fewer details in open sources.

It is not worth the "Volnovazza" - the so-called "Algerian" MiG-29SMT "flew" into the 14th Guards by no means by chance - the task was set to preserve the core of the fighter aircraft of the Russian Federation. The delivery of this equipment made it possible, almost without spending time on retraining, due to the "kinship" of the previously operated materiel "- the MiG-29S, already largely worn out (previously operated by 73 guards, from the summer of 1991 to February 1998), to increase the intensity of training ( flight time) of flight personnel to values that our sworn "partners" never dreamed of. Now, thanks to the high level of training of the flight personnel, it was possible in the shortest possible time not only to switch to the operation of the SU-30SM, but also to retrain the pilots for the full use of attack multipurpose aircraft, which is the SU-30SM. One follows from the other - it's no secret that you can retrain an experienced pilot much faster, and the result will be much better! So, the delivery of the MiG-29SMT to 14 guiaps turned out to be very useful!

They flew into our Air Force by accident, after Algeria refused to accept the cars in view of finding new parts, for which later, as far as I know, the perpetrators sat down for a period. By the way, then in 2009 there was any new fighter.

All this is wonderful and happy. Except for one thing - "that in the new year more than 100 aircrafts and helicopters of various types will arrive in the air force and naval aviation - both newly built and modernized." ---- How suspicious it sounds ... The modernized equipment cannot enter the VKS - it is already there, it was simply sent to factories for modernization - refurbishment and repair. Why is this attributed to the replenishment of new samples? It turns out that you can take a hundred T-55 tanks standing behind the Urals in the fields, put new sights or rollers on them - and there you have another hundred "new equipment" delivered to the RF Armed Forces in the new year.
I believe that such statements should not take place. It is necessary to separate - how much new equipment will arrive, and how much modernized.

What is modernization - I think there is no need to explain. And the fact that they are sent for modernization only from storage bases is the first time I hear it. For example, for the SU-30SM, they created a new engine and some other devices that are better than the one in it - and what, instead of sending aircraft for refurbishment, will they be sent first to the storage base? Not quite so, at least in Soviet times this was not

I agree . The commander and deputy for the IAS will be hanged if the resource consumption is not planned and will lead to a "subsidence" of the unit's combat readiness.
And the exit to the capital (where all the major modernizations were carried out) was planned for at least a year in advance. And even on these machines there was the remainder of the resource for an alarm departure. We in the UAE were allowed to leave only one side on the ground. Moreover, he should have "fluttered" no later than 12 hours later. And then there are some "storage bases". Where were these bins? There one accounting department (forms with passports) to store - and that is a hassle.

And how many MiG-31s were cut from the EBN and "zeroed"? Have you reduced your regiments?

About not at all, the Air Force clings to it, most of it, apparently, is on conservation.

In general, in the era of EBNa in 1993, a decision was made to reduce the old equipment, it was then that the IS-2 was removed from service. And this is generally correct, most likely, a significant part could be written off even not for the sake of economy, but because of its complete uselessness. Of all the decommissioned aircraft, I only feel sorry for the MiG-27 and Su-17M4. They could fight in Chechnya.

My couch view on helicopters is:
Mi 26, Mi 8, Mi 35, Ka 52 should be part of the VKS, Navy, Airborne Forces, SSO.
MI 28 is an unnecessary device in the videoconferencing system.
