Over the past few weeks, the promising anti-aircraft missile system S-350 Vityaz has repeatedly become the topic News. The reason for this was the completion of the development of the project and testing of experimental equipment, as well as preparation for serial production and supply to the troops. It is reported that already this year they will build and give the customer the first model of a new air defense system; in the future, the necessary number of military units will be transferred to such equipment.

Together with other complexes it was planned to deliver the first sample of the C-350 air defense system. No details of future delivery were reported.

This year, for the first time, the Vityaz air defense system was recalled at the very beginning of spring. March 1 newspaper "Red Star" published an interview with the head of the Military Academy of Aerospace Defense. Marshal G.K. Zhukov, Lieutenant-General Vladimir Lyaporov. The topic of conversation was the current state of affairs in the field of training personnel of the East Kazakhstan region and its prospects.

Touching on the issue of material and training of specialists, the general recalled the work of the Gatchina training center for anti-aircraft missile forces, which is part of the academy. According to V. Lyaporov, this center is engaged in the preparation of calculations for the C-400 and C-500 SAM systems. In addition, at the end of the year, the center will receive the first C-350 “Vityaz” complexes. This technique will attract to the learning process.

On April 12, the regular Unified Day of Acceptance of Military Products took place, during which not only current, but also future deliveries of materiel were discussed. During this event, Deputy Defense Minister Alexei Krivoruchko spoke about the progress of the C-350 project. According to him, the state tests of the new complex are being completed with successful launches. At the same time, the assembly of the first serial Vityaz was launched. This type of equipment is intended to replace the existing C-300PS.

Against the background of such reports, on April 16, RIA Novosti published a consolidated material entitled “A fan of missiles: will the new air defense system be able to scare off Russia Aviation NATO ”, which collected accessible data on the S-350 project. Long way to the troops

The recent events around the Vityaz C-350 air defense system are very important, especially against the backdrop of stories this project. According to known data, the development of a new anti-aircraft complex was launched in the second half of the last decade. The start of the work and the delivery of the first serial sample are approximately 12 years old.

According to known data, the development of C-350 was launched in 2007; The Almaz-Antey concern was responsible for creating the new complex. Experimental design work was opened by order of the Russian Ministry of Defense after the military got acquainted with another development of the concern. Earlier, "Almaz-Antey" created for South Korea the medium-range air defense system KM-SAM, and the resulting sample interested the Russian command. According to the terms of the order, the concern was to develop a new type of air defense missile system, taking into account the requirements of the Russian army, and bring it up to be adopted in 2012-13.

However, 2007's plans for the year failed. The development of "Vityaz" regularly faced various difficulties, which led to several delays in the timing. For example, in 2014, it was planned to complete state tests no later than the beginning of the next year, but in fact they were completed only now.

However, the development of the project was carried out and solved the tasks. In 2011, the design stage was completed, after which tests began on individual elements of the complex, including new anti-aircraft guided missiles. Later it became known about the conduct of unsuccessful launches of experienced missiles. These results were associated with problems of guidance systems, and the refinement of the necessary components continued.

In June, 2013, the new ZRK, was first shown publicly. Separate funds of this complex fell into the lenses of the mass media at the Obukhov plant during the visit of President Vladimir Putin. Subsequently, C-350 products were demonstrated at domestic military-technical exhibitions.

The appearance of the complex

According to open data, the Vityaz air defense system includes several components. These are the 50P6E launcher for the 9М96 and 9М100 missiles, the 50К6Е command and control station and the 50Н6Е multi-purpose radar station, as well as auxiliary vehicles. All the facilities of the complex are produced in a mobile version. The equipment is mounted on three- and four-axle special chassis of the Bryansk Automobile Plant. According to the characteristics of strategic and tactical mobility, the C-350 is not inferior to a number of other anti-aircraft complexes of domestic and foreign development. The composition of the anti-aircraft battery should include several launchers and machine control. The work unit is provided by several auxiliary machines.

Each 50P6E launcher has a package for mounting transport-launch containers with missiles 12. The total ammunition of the battery or division depends on their structure and, accordingly, the number of launchers. One of the main features of the Vityaz project is the emphasis on the duration of combat work and the number of knocked down targets. Due to the increased ammunition of each launcher and the entire complex as a whole, the C-350 can repel a massive attack using combat aircraft and aircraft weapons. It also provides for the fight against certain types of ballistic targets.

Zur type 9М100 is designed to protect objects in the near zone. Its launch range is 15 km. The second rocket - 9М96. This product is designed to intercept targets within 120 km. Both products are able to deal with various targets flying at a speed of no more than 1000 m / s. Guidance is carried out using active radar seeker. The defeat is provided by high-explosive fragmentation warheads.

Place in the troops

In the recent past, the topic of the future operation of the Vityaz C-350 and the place of this complex in the air defense system was repeatedly raised in the media. It was argued that the new air defense missile system will find application in both target and military air defense. However, according to newer estimates, “Vityaz” is not a universal system for both spheres.

It is known that the C-350 air defense system was originally created as a modern and more effective replacement for the obsolete C-300P and C-300PS systems. The operation of these complexes was supposed to end in 2010-15, and at the same time they needed to be replaced. The vacant niche was to be occupied by the Vityaz. The actual deliveries of new models were delayed for several years with respect to the early plans, but in the near future, the C-350 would still go into service with parts of the target air defense.

The number of new type complexes required by troops is unknown. In the past, it was reported that by the year 2015, due to the development of a resource from service, it would be necessary to withdraw up to fifty C-300P / PS systems. Probably, they needed approximately the same number of new systems to replace.

The version about the future use of the “Vityaz” as a replacement for the Buk-МХNUMX air defense system in the military air defense system has gained some acceptance. Nevertheless, experts in the field of air defense doubt the feasibility of such plans. The latest publications on С-1 focus on the original purpose of this complex. At the same time, the possibility of adding "Bukov" with more modern "Vityaz" is not excluded.

Thus, the newest Vityaz C-350 air defense system will be operated by air and anti-ballistic missile defense forces. In this structure, it will complement C-300 complexes of later modifications and modern C-400. In addition, in the future, Vityaz will serve together with the expected C-500. Prospects for new developments in the context of air defense of the ground forces are unclear.

The letters "E" in the name of the components may indicate the plans of the Almaz-Antey concern to promote the C-350 complex on the international market. Nevertheless, any information about the real interest of foreign customers to this sample has not yet been received. Perhaps contract consultations will begin later. In the context of exports, it should also be remembered that mass production started recently and has not yet managed to satisfy the needs of even its own army. Only after the Russian air and anti-missile defense forces are saturated with new equipment will it be possible to begin production for foreign customers.

Differences and advantages

It is easy to notice that the newest C-350 air defense system is similar to its predecessors and at the same time differs from them. Apparently, the differences are associated with some changes in views on the role and functions of the new air defense system. In this case, they provide a certain increase in the characteristics and combat qualities.

C-350 is designed to work together with C-300PM and C-400 within the framework of a developed echeloned air defense system and must be responsible for the protection of objects in the range of distances up to 100-120 km. In this case, aerodynamic or ballistic targets that have broken through other echelons of defense will be destroyed by Vityaz missiles at a safe distance from the protected objects. It is also possible to use C-350 air defense systems independently as the only means of covering relevant objects.

The most important feature of the C-350 is the increase in the number of missiles on one launcher. An increase in the battery ammunition and the division has a positive effect on the duration of combat work and the potential number of targets hit. It also simplifies transportation, since all the rockets are on the same machine.

Recall that in the S-C-300P used so-called. launch complex - a set of one main and two additional launchers. Each such launcher has its own ammunition - 4 missiles. Thus, one Vityaz car carries the same size of ammunition as the C-300P starting complex. With similar fighting qualities, the C-350 is easier to transport and deploy.

The new model for a number of characteristics can not even compare with the existing air defense systems, which are in service. At the same time, other equally important results were obtained. Thanks to the Vityaz project, the Russian army can reinforce an existing air defense facility with new, modern air defense systems capable of replacing outdated samples, as well as successfully complement those that remain in service and are planned to be adopted.

The special appearance, as well as differences in the characteristics and combat capabilities may be a commercial advantage. Having established the production of Vityazi, the Russian industry will be able to bring them to the international market. Expanding the range of export samples will surely attract the attention of potential buyers. They will be able to choose an anti-aircraft complex, whose characteristics best meet their requirements.

However, the anti-aircraft missile system C-350 "Vityaz" was created primarily for the Russian army. The design, testing and refinement process has already been completed: the complex has recently coped with state trials. The assembly of the first production model has begun, and by the end of the year he will go to the troops. The first air defense system will serve as a training tool, but subsequent samples will go into the army and strengthen the object defense.
