Since the outbreak of hostilities in southeastern Ukraine, the initiative volunteers, realizing the deplorable state of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, have begun to equip volunteer militants with equipment. The flow of cars went to the front. Most often these were jeeps, necessary for the unit commanders and intelligence officers, bank armored vans. It was on such a minivan that the special forces acted during the battle for the liberation of Toretsk (Dzerzhinsk). One of the group commanders recalls: "We arrived in the city on these gray bank armored cars, no one understood anything - we thought, probably, our own, because quite a few such armored cars of separators pushed". As a result, during the eight-hour 21 battle of July 2014, all these beads were burned.

It was necessary to dream of easier cars only. And these cars were bought in England, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. They were distilled under their own power or imported by autocarts into Ukraine, often without documents and customs clearance. They were quickly prepared for shipment to the front line. The average cost of preparing one car (if it goes without a reservation) is about 5-7 thousand UAH, and the total average cost of a volunteer car for ATO goes from $ 2 to $ 5 thousand. Funds were collected, including through Facebook. Repair and preparation of cars is carried out on ordinary service stations, and often they don’t take money for these works from volunteers - they pay only the cost of spare parts.
