The first rifle under the Soviet cartridge 12.7х107 - Gepard M1

14
It is clear that a good undertaking does not stand still, and the use of the cartridge for the .50 Browning machine gun by Western countries for a sniper rifle, led to the fact that the former Warsaw Pact member countries, which were armed with Soviet-style weapons, began to do something similar . Soviet ammunition 12.7 mm, in some way analogous to NATO ammunition, was used for the same purpose - a cartridge for a sniper rifle. Hungarians were the first to be here - their sniper rifle Gepard М1 became the first sniper weapons under the Soviet 12.7X107 ammunition. The rifle is created in the 1990 year, small-scale production started in the 1991 year. Hungarian engineer F. Feldi created Gepard М1.

The first rifle under the Soviet cartridge 12.7х107 - Gepard M1

Device and construction
The Gepard M1 sniper destination rifle is a single-shot weapon with a rather interesting breech construction. The pistol grip is made by a separate element of a rifle, the front of which has a bolt with a number of lugs, and a trigger with a drummer is located behind them. To load the cartridge in a rifle, you must turn the pistol grip to the right side - the breech of the weapon will open. Then you need to pull the handle back to pull out the full frame of the shutter. Now you can install ammunition in the chamber. Next, insert the shutter frame into place and turn the handle - locks the shutter. Trigger the rifle manually. Gepard МХNUMX is ready for shooting - it remains to aim and keep accurate fire. Since the recoil of the 1 mm ammunition is quite tangible, the rifle was installed in the frame of the case-like design, inside its weapon can move along the longitudinal axis. The recoil in the rifle is extinguished by a specially made spring. This spring and increased muzzle brake reduce recoil to an acceptable value - approximately equal in return to large-caliber hunting ammunition. On the rifle's butt, they placed a pad under the cheek, to rest an unoccupied hand on the one-legged type bipod closest to the butt, they performed a comfortable stop. The bulk of the weapon goes to the bipod bipod, which is installed at the beginning of the bed. Manual safety lock located on the pistol grip - locks the trigger.

In accuracy, Soviet and NATO ammunition are almost the same. Consequently, at a distance of half a kilometer the bullets from the ammunition will calmly fall into the 25-ti centimeter circle. Armor-piercing ammunition at this distance will sew a steel sheet in 1.5 centimeters. At the standard 1.3 distance of a kilometer, the bullets will calmly fall into the 30-ti centimeter circle. Hungarian designers have proven that the Gepard M1’s aiming range is long enough - 2 kilometers per meter objects.

The sight of the open type is intended solely for emergencies, the rifle has an optical sight with a twelvefold magnification, which is mounted on the frame. Since the barrel can move longitudinally relative to the bed, the preservation of installations for combat may cause certain inconveniences. There is also a modification of this rifle - Gepard M1A1, in principle it is the same rifle of the sniper type only installed on the special ground.

Gepard M1 - this is not a military model of weapons, the main user of which is the police and units to fight terrorists. There accuracy of a shot is more important, than other characteristics. A small number of moving elements allowed us to achieve sufficiently high rates of accuracy. But the army also uses these rifles - the Hungarian military purchased Gepard M25 1 units for themselves, mainly for field operations. Other modifications of the rifle were not acquired by the armed forces. Acquired small batches of this rifle Russia, the United States, Croatia and Turkey. But the Gepard M1 didn’t accept it. The release of 123 units of sniper rifles of various modifications is known. To the above modifications add one more - Gepard M1A2.

Despite the excellent reviews and popularity in combat, the use of a rifle was not noticed. The rifle was used except by the Croatian military units during the Yugoslav war. Now many of them are gathering dust in the warehouses of the Hungarian police and army units and other buyers of this rifle.

The main characteristics of the Hungarian rifle Gepard M1:
- ammunition 12.7x107 mm;
- Weight 19 kilogram;
- The length of the barrel 110 centimeters;
- single charge type of loading;
- Production Technika Hungary, Budapest.

    in half a kilometer the ammunition bullets will calmly lie down in the 30 centimeter circle. [...] At a standard distance of 1.3 kilometers, bullets will calmly lie in the 25 centimeter circle.

    It’s like: the farther, the more accurate? By logic, 75cm

        if after flying 800 meters the pile became 5 cm less.
        then the bullets converge at one point at a distance of 4000 m.

        In general, the text was pulled from Wikipedia.

        there they also write that the accuracy of 0.7 MOA. I DO NOT BELIEVE.
        usually such calibers are used on lightly armored vehicles and are not very accurate.

    The original method of reloading ... The pistol grip bolt ... If it's on the other side of the SVD, then you might not have time to reload ... 7,62 * 54 will arrive, a "Russian cartridge" of the 1891 model ... crying crying recourse

        I apologize. Of course, the first bullet was rounded, and from 1908 it was pointed, with improved aerodynamics ...

      In addition to the "Cheetah" M1, there is the "Cheetah" M2, there is already a box magazine for 5 or 10 rounds, an empty weight of 12 kg, an armor-piercing bullet penetrates 15 mm armor at a distance of 600 meters, an aiming range of up to 2000 meters. The "Cheetah" M3 is already chambered for the 14,5X114mm cartridge, also a box magazine for 5 or 10 rounds, the "gun" weighs 20 kg in an empty state, from 600 meters it penetrates 25 mm armor with an armor-piercing bullet, automatic equipment due to the recoil of the barrel, the aiming range is up to 2000 meters. In general, most large bore rifles look rough.

      But does it really matter what you get slapped with a 12,7-caliber of? )) From chrome, aesthetically seasoned and licked yes with Swarovski crystals. Or from a clumsy, similar to a crutch of a bagpipe?)))

      I think when you tear off a limb or turn the chest inside out, you won’t feel the difference winked

      At the final judgment, it will still have to be collected in parts.

    about the characteristics of sniper rifles on this site read - neighing only. At 1.3 km in a circle of 30 cm ??? the most accurate rifle in the United States has a bunch of meters per meter for 1.2 km, this is in perfect weather ..

      Maybe, for a large caliber. Another thing is interesting: the accuracy at a distance of 300m is 25cm, 1300m is 30cm. In theory, the accuracy at 1.3km should be 108cm (which is more in 3,6 times) Yes, and he is heavy (some versions) ...
