2011 year of "Russian Helicopters"
However, it is necessary to make a remark: 18 billion are contracts with regard to orders of the Ministry of Defense of Russia within the framework of the rearmament program, calculated up to 2020 of the year. By the end of this period, the Russian military will receive 450 new multi-purpose and combat vehicles. In addition, it is planned to repair several hundreds of helicopters already built. Slowly but steadily growing production of new types - Mi-28H and Ka-52. It is expected that the full production of these helicopters will be released to the 2014-15 years.
Russian Helicopters now supplies the Russian Ministry of Defense with only 30% of the manufactured vehicles. The remaining seventy are in the domestic commercial market and export. Multipurpose helicopters of the Mi-8 and Mi-17 family still enjoy the greatest success with internal and external customers. These machines have long been proven to be useful in various areas of the national economy, and therefore the demand for them not only does not fall, but is constantly growing. The main buyers of these helicopters over the past year are Afghanistan (21 Mi-17), India (nine Mi-17), Venezuela (about a dozen) and other developing countries. It’s understandable, own aviation There is no industry, but helicopter technology is needed. Accordingly, these countries choose not only good, but also cheaper cars. Therefore, it is believed that the countries of Asia and South America will actively purchase Russian helicopters for more than a year. As a result of this, a dozen Mi-171 went to Iraq last year, a dozen and a half to Azerbaijan, six each went to Indonesia and Peru, three each to Kenya, Bangladesh and Thailand. Finally, two Mi-171 helicopters were bought by Ecuador, Poland, Argentina and South Sudan. Of some interest is the sale of 14 Mi-171s to the English company Exclusive Aircraft. According to available information, this company has already resold the received cars to an unnamed customer.
Domestic helicopter gunships are in lower demand abroad. Nevertheless, they are a serious representative of the market. Just fighting helicopters are purchased exclusively by military departments and, as a result, their number should be less than transport or multifunctional ones that can perform not only combat missions. Last year, China received the latest Ka-31 long-range radar detection helicopters. The contract for 135 million dollars provided for the supply of nine such machines. Also in 2011, percussion machines such as the Mi-35 went well for export. Six pieces of Mi-35M went to serve in Brazil, four such helicopters went to Azerbaijan, and two more Mi-35Ps went to Peru. Another four Mi-35P, decommissioned from the Russian Air Force, were repaired and sent to Myanmar.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, engines became one of the main problems of the Russian helicopter industry. A large number of models of domestic helicopters had engines produced by factories left in the now independent Ukraine. Cooperation with Zaporozhye Motor Sich PJSC has been going on with varying success recently. Finally, last year Russian Helicopters concluded a special agreement with Motor Sich for a period of five years. The Zaporozhye company in total will receive 1,2 a billion dollars, for which it will have to supply up to 270 turboshaft engines of various types annually for five years. This contract is beneficial to both parties. Russian Helicopters are guaranteed to receive the required number of helicopter engines, and Motor Sich will have a job for five years to come. The new contract will allow planning the volumes of engine supplies at the level at which it is also possible to solve helicopter sales issues. Thus, in the future, there will be no situation in which, due to the mismatch of engine supplies and helicopter construction, motors will be idle in warehouses and ready helicopters will not receive power plants.
Analytical agency Frost & Sullivan predicts that from 2010 to 2020 almost nine thousand rotorcraft will be sold and bought worldwide, and their total value will exceed $ 200 billion. Also, F&S believes that the share of combat helicopters by this time will grow to 60% of all deliveries. If Russian Helicopters managed to become the market leader in a relatively short period of time, one can imagine what prospects await them in the very near future.
