CERV hybrid car
CERV-Clandestine Extended Range Vehicle is a lightweight, diesel-electric hybrid vehicle that reaches a maximum speed of 130 km / h. It is designed for special operations reconnaissance, support and target designation. CERV has a very silent movement and is one of the most "green" army vehicles. CERV was developed in collaboration with California-based company Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide.
CERV is armed with a 12.7-mm machine gun, has no armor and, therefore, does not provide any protection against small weapons. All-wheel drive car is driven by diesel-electric (JP8) hybrid engine Quantum Q-Force. The Q-Force is a hybrid design that uses a 1.4-liter diesel engine paired with a 75 kW generator that, in combination with power from lithium-ion batteries, powers the DC motor 100 kW. Quantum has developed a unique lightweight body that integrates the Q-Force hybrid transmission, the weight of the car is only 2267 kg.
A large cargo platform is installed in the rear of the car behind the passenger seat. To carry out a series of tests under this program, a total of six prototypes of the car were built. This vehicle has a torque of 6800 Nm, which allows it to overcome 60-percentage lifts and water barriers 0.8 meter depth. The Q-Force Hybrid Transmission reduces fuel consumption by 25 percent compared to conventional vehicles of the same size and weight, and also significantly reduces carbon dioxide emissions and reduces thermal visibility.
CERV incorporates the latest technologies for improving battery performance, consisting in the use of new materials and software, which ultimately improves performance and range. CERV is certified for transporting a number of military transport aircraft and is currently the only certified hybrid vehicle for transporting Osprey CV-22 converters. The crew of the car is 4 person.
