Project news IL-112

One of the main programs of domestic aircraft construction currently being implemented is the creation and construction of the Il-112V transport aircraft. This machine is needed to update the fleet of air force equipment and civil carriers operating older aircraft. To date, the program has achieved some success. Some stages of the program have already been completed, and ongoing work is approaching its final. A direct consequence of this is the determination of approximate dates of the first flight of a promising aircraft, as well as the appearance of a large number News on the progress of work.

In late January, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin visited the Voronezh Joint-Stock Aircraft Building Company (VASO), which is involved in several programs and is responsible for assembling promising equipment. A senior official said that the Voronezh enterprise will soon have to show a new model aviation technicians. Three premieres of the latest aircraft were planned for this year: MiG-35, MS-21 and Il-112V. The first planned event has already taken place, the second is expected in early spring. The first full-fledged demonstration of the Il-112V military transport aircraft under construction in Voronezh should take place by early July. Soon we should expect the first flight of the aircraft.

Wing installation process

The formation of such optimistic plans contributes to the current situation with the construction of the first prototype. February 3 press service VASO announced the beginning of a new phase of construction of the machine. An experienced transport worker was transferred to the final assembly shop. In addition, by this time the docking of the wing and the fuselage was completed. It is reported that the assembly of the airframe may be completed in late February. After that, the future prototype will receive engines, control systems, etc.

The first aircraft, a few days ago passed to the final assembly, is intended for use in flight tests. He will receive a complete set of the required equipment, making it a full-fledged prototype. To date, the construction of the second sample has begun, which, however, is not planned to be lifted into the air. This machine will be built to carry out resource and strength tests on the ground.

Soon, the United Aircraft Corporation, in its official report, described the current situation with plans for mass production of equipment. According to the press service of UAC, the production facilities of the Voronezh Joint-Stock Aircraft Building Company allow annually to build from 8 to 12 IL-112 aircraft. Exact numbers should depend on the volume of received orders.

Fuselage assembly, 2016

Earlier, approximate market needs were announced. According to the director of the Il-112 program, Dmitry Savelyev, the Russian Aerospace Forces need 35-like machines. Even before 65 aircraft can be acquired by other government agencies. Thus, the general needs of government customers, not counting private airlines, can be around 100 aircraft. OAK estimates of possible production rates show that VASO has every chance of receiving orders for the decade ahead.

4 February it became known who could be one of the first customers of the civilian version of the transport aircraft. According to Deputy Prime Minister D. Rogozin, the “Mail of Russia” showed its interest in such equipment. However, no details on this have yet been disclosed. The terms of the possible signing of the contract and its volumes were not specified and, apparently, will not be announced in the near future.

According to the latest news, at the moment, VASO employees are engaged in the construction of two prototype Il-112В aircraft at once, one of which will be sent for flight tests in the foreseeable future, while the other will be tested on ground stands. It is already known that in the next few weeks the assembly of the first glider will be completed, after which it will be equipped with all necessary equipment. In the middle of the year, the car is planned to be lifted into the air, having begun testing.

It should be noted that the construction of a prototype of a new type of aircraft is carried out fairly quickly. Preparation for the assembly of a promising machine and the manufacture of first parts for it began in January last year. By December, it was possible to complete the assembly of the main part of the fuselage and the wing of a unique design. In the last days of December, they were sent to the final assembly, and in January, 2017 began to work on the connection of the wing and fuselage, the completion of which was reported a few days ago. Thus, the full assembly of the entire aircraft should take no more than 13-15 months, which is a very remarkable time.

The program for the construction of new aircraft is implemented by the efforts of several enterprises of the aviation industry. Projects IL-112В (military transport) and IL-112Т (civil / commercial) were created by the company "Aviation Complex. S.V. Ilyushin. 85% of work on the construction of experimental and serial equipment was entrusted to the “Voronezh Joint-Stock Aircraft Building Association”. Turboprop engines are supplied by Klimov, and Aviastar-SP and Aerocomposite are responsible for the production of some elements of the airframe. The final assembly of equipment is carried out in Voronezh.

New aircraft are intended to replace outdated An-26, still operated by public and private organizations. The need to replace such equipment, which is important in the aircraft fleet, has led to the formation of the corresponding technical specifications for the new project. In accordance with it, the prospective IL-112 should be a self-supporting, high-wing, straight-wing and turboprop engines. The project also provides for the use of a relatively large and capacious cargo and passenger cabin. It is possible to use various airborne equipment, such as protection systems against enemy anti-aircraft systems.

Single wing in the manufacturing process, 2016

In accordance with the project, the IL-112 family of airplanes should have a length of 23,5 m with a wingspan of 25,74 m. The maximum take-off weight is determined in 21 t, of which 5 t falls to cargo. Depending on the configuration used and the current needs of the operator, the aircraft will be able to carry cargo of one kind or another or up to 44 passengers. It is proposed to use side doors and a tail ramp for loading. The required flight characteristics are proposed to be obtained using two TV7-117CT turboprop engines with 3000 horsepower. on takeoff mode. Such engines equipped with AB-112 six-blade propellers will allow the aircraft to reach speeds of up to 550 km / h and show a practical range of at least 1000 km (at maximum load).

In addition to technical data and operational perspectives, the IL-112 project is interesting with several other features. So, it was the first domestic project of its kind, developed only with the use of modern computer-aided design systems. This allowed us to speed up the design work, and also gave certain technological advantages. On production, special terminals are now used, with the help of which it is possible to study any part and stages of the technological cycle for its manufacture. In the future, the benefits associated with electronic design, will be used to improve the efficiency of service equipment.

Wing installation, 2017

Another major innovation was used in the design of the aircraft. Instead of the traditional wing consisting of consoles and a center section integrated into the fuselage design, the so-called monokrylo. The entire bearing surface is made in the form of a single large unit having the necessary power elements and other equipment. When mounted on the fuselage, such a wing is fixed with the help of four nodes directly connected to the main frames. Previously, such a wing structure was not used on domestic transport aircraft.

The purpose of using mono-wings was to reduce the weight of the airframe in comparison with the design of traditional architecture. Reducing the own weight of the aircraft, in turn, should have a positive impact on its flight and economic characteristics. Previously, VASO specialists have already assembled the fuselage and mono-wing, and a few days ago they were docked. With the help of a crane in the assembly workshop, the finished wing was placed on the fuselage and secured in the required position.

It is noted that the project IL-112 used only components of domestic production. On-board radio-electronic equipment is also built on the element base of Russian production. The advantages of this approach to the acquisition of technology are obvious. The onboard equipment will include various systems necessary for solving various tasks. It is mentioned that according to some instruments, the new IL-112 will be unified with the heavy IL-76MD-90А transporter.

In addition to the equipment for piloting, a promising aircraft can receive specialized systems of one purpose or another. In particular, the military transport Il-112В can be equipped with onboard defense complexes "President-S" or "Vitebsk", protecting the aircraft from enemy anti-aircraft missiles.

The first prototype of the Il-112 is built in the “B” configuration, designed for use by the military transport aviation of the armed forces. In the future, an IL-112T civilian aircraft should appear. The differences between the two modifications are primarily in the onboard equipment. By airframe, power plant, control systems, etc. technique will be unified.

To date, the bulk of the construction work on the first experienced IL-112 has been completed in Voronezh. In the near future, the aircraft will have to get engines and avionics, after which it will be able to go to the tests. The first flight of the prototype is scheduled for the middle of this year. The successes achieved make it possible to look into the future with optimism and expect a rapidly approaching beginning of the trials.

I have a wide and short fuselage pins on the IL-112, it's good to throw equipment and containers. I hope in the future there will be a forced modification like the An-32 with improved take-off and landing characteristics for difficult conditions. In civilian life, such an aircraft is uniquely needed for remote areas and supplying bases beyond the Arctic Circle, I hope it will become the same workhorse as the An-24.

only the operators / traders / businessmen (especially in the "north") do not really like the IL-76 - expensive, big ... imagine to collect 60 tons of goods to load the IL-76? and not every village needs so much (for example, the same fruit). and not every airfield can take IL-76. But the An-12 is very expensive, and in size, and in maintenance, and in the cost of maintenance. nothing to replace

Ours were waiting for the Hindus. To start the series .. They also waited with IL-112, but there was a problem with the engines and there is a similar-sized IL-114 aircraft. The IL-214 project was made at that level of the Tu-204 and is already outdated. They will wait until the MS-21 flies and becomes overgrown with domestic units and makes a transporter.
Nowadays, no one will do the transport separately.

Petro may have already rolled out a competitor, but the question of demand remains. And if in the Russian Federation the demand for “transporters” can be provided by the Moscow Region alone, then with the Ukrainian “competitor” everything is much more complicated. Well, order the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine 5 years, and then what? I wish the Antonovites only success, but the future does not look optimistic for them

Sopromat, my friend. Significant efforts arise in the center section constructions and in detachable wing consoles at the joints, requiring reinforcement. Mono-wing - this is a kind of beam, to which the fuselage is suspended. If, on a simple basis - a traditional design - these are two "flange" joints, moving to a single wing, the flanges are thrown away, the design is facilitated. Of course, it requires reinforced frames and another set at the attachment point, but it comes out easier.

Well-wishers have amicably squandered on the development of our aircraft industry, here is an example from the notorious Carnegie center - Anastasia Dagaev - the so-called aviation columnist and creator of the AviaClub Aviation Club
    - 109,3 billion rubles will be spent on the revival of old Soviet aircraft. And for what? According to authorities, in a country with so many time zones, it’s a shame to fly on foreign flights. But it is necessary to consider the Il-114 and Il-96-400 projects from an economic angle, if only in order to visually verify their failure.
