Snowmobile with a closed cabin TTM-1901 "Berkut 2"

23
TTM-1901 “Berkut” is a Russian snowmobile (the name “snowmobile” is also encountered), which is produced by the Transport and Technological Machinery Plant “Transport” from Nizhny Novgorod. This is the only cabin type machine in our country among all ski-tracked snowmobiles. Production is conducted from 2007 of the year, while today the release of the updated version, designated as Bercut-2, is being carried out. Customers of this snowmobile are representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the army and the border service. At the same time, the car is also interesting for the civilian market; it can appeal to lovers of winter fishing, hunting and tourism.

Home stories the creation of the modern Russian snowmobile “Berkut” dates back to 1962 the year when the research laboratory of all-terrain vehicles (RLIMM) was established at the Gorky Polytechnic Institute under the leadership of S. V. Rukavishnikova. During 20 for years, a small group of enthusiasts was engaged in designing new equipment, creating during this time about two dozen tracked snow and swamp-going vehicles and snowmobiles for the needs of Soviet agriculture and forestry, geologists, oilmen and the military. Among other things, the ski-tracked snowmobile GUI-1975 was created in 1910, which had a closed cabin and was created on the basis of the ZAZ-968 Zaporozhets car. This snowmobile was created for the needs of search and rescue services in the framework of the joint Soviet-American space project "Soyuz-Apollo". This snowmobile, which was able to successfully pass the tests and was recommended for acceptance to supply the Air Force, can now be called a distant relative of today's “Berkut”.

In 1991, a special design and technological bureau of transport and technological machines, abbreviated SKTB TTM, was allocated from the NLMMV and was headed by associate professor N. B. Veselov. As a result, the bureau was transformed into CJSC Transport, reorganized in 2015, into NPO Transport. The new company continued to develop a variety of lightweight ski-tracked cross-country vehicles. In 2005, a new model was launched here - the TTM-1901 “Berkut”, which was created on the basis of the components of the VAZ-1111 “Oka” car. The military version of this all-terrain vehicle passed military tests in 2006 year.

Created in Nizhny Novgorod, the ski-tracked all-terrain vehicle TTM-1901 “Berkut” was designed to monitor the condition of pipelines, communication lines and power lines, as well as other communications, patrolling rough terrain, protecting various objects, fishing, hunting and other types of active winter recreation. In this model was used double heated cabin from the car "Oka" with a trunk, located in front and a cargo platform in the rear of the all-terrain vehicle. On the snowmobile was installed carburetor engine VAZ-21213 80 hp power, paired with a manual 5-speed gearbox.

The chassis of the all-terrain vehicle includes two skis, as well as two tracked trucks from the Taiga snowmobile with rubber-reinforced tracks, the width of the tracks - 500 mm. For transportation over long distances, the snowmobile can be placed in the back of a Gazel car, and it can also drive there itself if there is a special inclined ramp. For a long time the production of "Berkut" was not active enough. Before 2011, only about 20 copies of this snowmobile were assembled. The disadvantages of the first car include high noise operation, lack of comfort and low maneuverability.

That is why the company “Transport” did not stop working on the modernization of a ski-tracked snowmobile with a closed heated cabin ТТМ-1901, which was designated as “Bercut-2”, which is currently being tested and is being prepared for mass production. The updated model was introduced in 2012 year. Compared with the "Berkut", produced from 2005, it has the following changes:

1. The cab and engine hood are made of composite materials on a metal frame, which reduced the weight of the model.

2. The cabin and the engine-transmission unit of the snowmobile were made separate, they are interconnected by silent blocks with travel stops. This structural solution allows:

- increase the mutual travels of the rear tracked propulsion and front skis. This greatly increases the ability of the snowmobile suspension to adapt to the track, thereby removing a significant part of the peak loads on the snow cover;

- load on managed skis remains almost constant, it does not depend on the nature of the irregularities of the road. This allows you to increase the stability of the management of ski-tracked all-terrain vehicle;
- Modified steering link and power steering increase the accuracy of snowmobile control and reduce the effort on the steering wheel, facilitating control.

3. Connecting the cabin of the snowmobile and the engine-transmission unit through silent blocks significantly reduces the noise level in the cabin.

4. Separated from the engine-transmission unit cabin and modified cooling system eliminates the occurrence of gas inside the cabin.

5. The intake of air necessary for cooling the engine from the roof of the cabin and the release of hot air through the tailgate prevent clogging of air inlets and air outlets with snow.

6. More comfortable and ergonomic interior.

The relevance of such technology as the "Bercut-2" in recent years has increased. At present, Russia is moving to the active economic development of vast northern territories. Today, the government aims to protect Russian interests in the Arctic, a whole range of measures, including military ones. Such actions seem justified in the light of the growing tension in the world and increased attention to this region, including from the NATO member countries. In this regard, the Russian military are considering options for equipping the Arctic units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation with a variety of specialized vehicles. One of them may well be the updated ski-tracked snowmobile TTM-1901 "Bercut-2".

"Today it is the only vehicle that is able to move on virgin soil with any thickness of snow cover at a speed of 35-40 kilometers per hour," said Nikolai Veselov, the inventor of the snowmobile, plant manager. At the same time, Russian TTM snowmobiles have a number of distinctive features that set them apart from other mass-produced models: the presence of a heated cabin that provides the crew with comfortable conditions (at the level of a car) at low ambient temperatures and adverse weather conditions; high maneuverability and control; high stability when driving a snowmobile across rough terrain and through the virgin snow without limiting the depth of the snow cover.

Snowmobile "Berkut-2" received a closed double cabin with an effective heating system. Even with the ambient temperature overboard -50 ° C inside the cabin, quite comfortable + 18 ° C are stored. A curious feature is that the all-terrain vehicle cab doors open to the 180 ° and can be fixed along the sides. Also, the model was added the ability to transport two soldiers on the outer fence in the cabin space. Here can also be located a place for a gunner-gunner who can fire right on the move.

Currently, the Berkut-2 snowmobile is equipped with an ordinary gasoline engine with a Zhiguli. The engine is easy to start even at temperatures as low as -50 ° C. But oil and gasoline in the Arctic use special ones. Fuel consumption is on the order of 18 liters per 100 km, which is quite suitable for the army leadership. Another important advantage of a modern snowmobile is that any average car enthusiast can control this technique. In his cabin are the usual steering wheel, three pedals (gas, clutch and brake) and a manual gearbox - all that is in any car. Therefore, it does not take more than 15 minutes to learn a beginner.

The modernization, which led to the emergence of "Berkut-2", allowed the company "Transport" to return the interest of customers and resume mass production of a rather interesting machine. In particular, in 2015, the snowmobile was officially adopted by the Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of Russia. Significant interest in the Nizhny Novgorod development is shown in the EMERCOM of Russia. It is this ministry that may in the future become the main customer of the Bercut-2 cross-country tracked cross-country vehicles. It is also reported that in 2016, the Russian Ministry of Defense placed an order for 40 snowmobiles “Bercut-2”, which are designed to operate in the Arctic.

The military version of this TTM-1901-40 all-terrain vehicle differs from the civilian version by installing a more powerful engine, a night vision device at the driver’s place, a spotlight mounted on the roof, and the presence of a turret behind the cabin to install a single Pecheneg control panel. The main purpose of the military version is to transport personnel and various cargoes, towing trailers (sleds) weighing up to 7,62 kg over snowy rugged terrain and snow virgin lands.

The updated version of the "Berkut", which received a new ergonomic cab made of composite materials, boasts a dashboard from the LADA Priora car and the power steering from the Chevrolet Niva. "Bercut-2" has become more convenient, more comfortable, easier and more maneuverable. The future plans of the Nizhny Novgorod enterprise “Transport” are installing an automatic gearbox and a diesel engine on a snowmobile. In this case, the manufacturer will try to keep the value of their car within the 600-700 thousand rubles.

Performance characteristics of the TTM-1901-40 "Berkut 2":
Overall dimensions: length - 3870 mm, width - 1730 mm, height - 1970 mm.

Yes, a lot of technical characteristics of the machine, unlike the previous article, but only questions WHY this unit of the Ministry of Emergencies? If, as an option, the army can be pulled by the ears, then in this case it is completely incomprehensible. The main function of the Ministry of Emergencies is to save people and eliminate accidents and their consequences. What can this machine with 300 kg load on the SANI !? Do not evacuate a person, do not bring serious equipment.

And what, are there traveling - communication machines are not needed? Or carry each canister of gasoline and a pack of bandages in a separate Vityaz?

Just do not remember the Second World War. What are the coherent ??? If there is no cellular connection, there is satellite, which allows not only to talk but also to transmit various data. And traveling, where will they go to a neighboring village for a bottle? In my opinion, the car should be self-sufficient, with its communications and fuel and lubricants reserves and, accordingly, able to take the victims away, bring rescue and survival equipment.

          Didn’t serve, or what? :)
Life, and even more so the war and the Ministry of Emergencies, is not a computer game in any way, and they do not live on a smartphone at all. Believe the word.

That's just the point with regard to the army, the purpose is more or less clear (and the need for this unit is controversial), but for the Ministry of Emergencies I can’t imagine it. As for smartphones ... Well, not in the 19th century we already live ... unless of course he will not roll a sled with a 20 kg walkie-talkie.

But for me this car turned out to be too highly specialized .. Snow and .. EVERYTHING! And in summer, autumn and spring (especially in the very off-season) for a joke in the garage ... Is it rational? Not really .... The same "Sherpa" covers this pepelats on all fronts, both in cross-country ability, and in payload, and there is nothing to say about universality ..
rs: There is no need for the price of "Sherpa", it is determined not by cost or profitability, but by demand! With a price of 5 million, orders for it are in hundreds of pieces.

Comparing a snowmobile and a Sherpa is like comparing Plushenko and Valuev, it seems both are athletes, but completely different sports. Each of them has its own niche, and there is a use for everyone!

        Reply Quote Complaint More ...

Well, why .. And the one and the other is able to move around in the snow and the question is who can do it better .. And since Sherp is able to perform the task at any other time and in any landscape, it’s preferable as a vehicle .. Regarding the price already wrote that it is determined by DEMAND! And not the cost or profitability .. If the queue for five-million cars is a turn for months ahead, then the price is justified .. The fact that with mass production (in the factory full cycle) in thousands of units, the price will drop to 1-1.5 million I have no doubt .. Another thing is that it should not be financed under our 15-17% .. That is, money, but you need to spend it not on the purchase of US securities, but on the development of your own country .. But this is a completely different story ..

Yeah. There are no losses yet.
One tire of this Sherpa is more expensive than a whole sleigh. And buy a lot of them, so that each Comrade Major has enough to hit the headquarters of the battalion?

A good and very necessary car for our harsh conditions. The main wish is that the suspension and transmission components are made of frost-resistant materials.

Currently, the Berkut-2 snowmobile is equipped with an ordinary gas engine with a Zhiguli. The engine starts easily even at temperatures up to -50 ° C. But oil and gasoline in the Arctic use special... Maybe with "special gasoline" lol it will start, but with a simple -35 does not want. Controversial apparatus.

And here it is not necessary to argue. I don’t know about special gasoline, such oils are "synthetics", but still you can't do without a heating pad. We have machines below -30- -35 constantly either working, wasting a resource, or cables from the power station and electric boilers worked, heated the engine.

In the organization where I worked, there are mainly KAMAZ 43114 or 43118, a few Urals and UAZ-Bukhanka. And in the north of the region it’s often -50, so they don’t turn off the engine there.

All would be nothing. But too heavy. Its caterpillar is taken from ordinary snowmobiles, weighing 300-350 kg. And here is 1200. The specific pressure is 2 times higher. Therefore, they don’t take it much - the release goes to tens per year.
