A new sniper rifle, created in the framework of the ROC "Precision", is ready for serial production.

In the first half of November, 2016 appeared in the Russian media. news about the new Russian sniper rifle. At first, Dmitry Semizorov, General Director of the Central Scientific Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIITOCHMASH), told reporters that the tests of the rifle were successful, and it is ready for adoption by the FSO. The serial order itself will be at the end of 2017 of the year. A day later, the head of Russia's military-industrial committee, Dmitry Rogozin, “recommended to everyone” a new domestic sniper complex, which could soon be exported due to its tactical and technical characteristics, which are not inferior to Western counterparts.

In both cases, it was a rifle - ORSIS T-5000. This sniper rifle was developed in 2011 by a private company GK Promtekhnologii (Orsis). For 5 years, the company tried to promote its new product, trying to get a state defense order from the Russian Ministry of Defense. However, the process “stalled”, despite the active support of Dmitry Rogozin himself and even the patronage of Stephen Seagal, who even became the face armory ORSIS company. At the same time, the Russian military admitted that they needed a "long-range" sniper rifle, which has an increased accuracy of fire. It is especially necessary for army special forces.

The new Russian sniper complex was created in Klimovsk TsNIITOCHMASH (the head enterprise for the development of promising equipment for the Ratnik military personnel) as part of the experimental design work on the Accuracy project. And although the author of the sniper complex is TsNIITOCHMASH, the product is collective. It is based on the well-known rifle Orsis T-5000 M, and the manufacturer of scopes "Daedal" and the developers of ammunition - factories of Ulyanovsk (UPZ) and Novosibirsk (refinery) took part in the work.

The T-5000 rifle is today the hallmark of ORSIS. First introduced in 2011, the rifle was positioned as a universal high-precision weapon for sports, hunting and law enforcement agencies. The rifle is available today in 5 calibres, the main ones being .308 Win (7,62x51 mm) and .338 Lapua Magnum (8,6x70 mm). Orsis sniper rifle was initially declared as a competitor to leading foreign brands. In particular, it was said that the T-5000 is superior to the SSG 08 from the Austrian company Steyr-Mannlicher AG, which was purchased for arming GRU snipers.

In June, the 2012 of the year, a Russian team made up of fighters from the FSB Alfa group, was able to win at international competitions police and army snipers, they used T-5000 rifles. In September, the 2012, the rifle, was also tested in the “Warrior” equipment kit. In general, the ergonomics, design, accuracy of the T-5000 rifle (0,5 MOA or about 1,5 centimeters per 100 meters) fully meet the high requirements for such weapons. In a sufficiently powerful .338 LM caliber (originally created as a special sniper cartridge for firing over long distances), the effective firing range reaches 1,5 kilometers.

From the very beginning, representatives of ORSIS did not hide their desire to equip representatives of the Russian security agencies with their sniper rifles, but the matter did not move. Firstly, not a rifle can be put into service, but a sniper complex, which, in addition to the rifle itself, also includes sight and ammunition, while everything should be produced by Russian companies. To coordinate all the work, as well as to adjust tactical and technical requirements to the wishes of the security forces, to properly prepare and execute documentation (in fact, this is a big problem) only by government agencies that have solid experience with the Russian defense industry complex. Finally, domestic security agencies themselves so far prefer to cooperate with state-owned companies, rather than with private ones.

Apparently, it is for these reasons that an order for the creation of a new sniper complex was eventually issued to TsNIITOCHMASH JSC from the city of Klimovsk (Moscow region). The start of the project was announced at the end of 2013. According to the Lenta.ru publication, which refers to the press service of the enterprise from Klimovsk, about the 5000 changes were made to the basic design of the Orsis T-200 sniper rifle. As a result, two variants of the rifle were created within the framework of the ROC “Precision” - for the FSO and the Ministry of Defense of Russia. Preliminary testing of the version intended for the Russian military should take place in 2017 year.

The new sniper complex involves the use of two types of ammunition: .338 Lapua Magnum and 7,62x51 (.308 Win). Previously, these cartridges were not officially supplied by Russian power structures, which in itself is an intriguing event. With high probability, we can say that the manufacturer of optics for a rifle, created in the framework of the ROC "Precision", will be the company "Daedal". The sights of this Moscow-based company, which closely cooperates with Promtechnologia, being practically a “full-time” supplier of day and night optics for ORSIS sniper rifles, are well known to specialists. It is known that the sniper complex will be equipped with an optical sight and a laser rangefinder for 2 kilometers.

The newest daytime sights of the company “Daedalus” is the model DH 5-20 x 56 with variable magnification, it pleasantly surprises users with a high level of quality and a set of characteristics. Especially for the security forces, the Moscow-based enterprise specialists created the execution of the sight, which is highly durable and can withstand firing powerful ammunition, up to the caliber 12,7 mm. A feature of this optical sight is also a significant removal of the exit pupil, equal to 100 mm, which is a very important advantage for calibers of sniper rifles with noticeable recoil, such as .338 Lapua Magnum. The designated sight can be additionally equipped with two nozzles: night Dedal-NV and thermal Dedal-TA, which allow the arrow to fire and monitor targets in poor visibility conditions and at night without removing the main optical sight.

A new sniper rifle, created in the framework of the ROC "Precision", is ready for serial production.

Information about the work in the framework of the Accuracy project that has appeared in the Russian media has already spawned disputes in absentia between the well-known gun blogger Andrei Soyustov on the one hand, and the vice-premier of the Russian government, Dmitry Rogozin, on the other. In response to the expert’s statement that the sniper complex was not ready for serial production due to the presence of foreign components in it, Dmitry Rogozin objected that the blogger was just behind the times and that there were no foreign components in the new sniper rifle, as well as production of two types cartridges.

Representatives of the weapons portal intervened in absentia in this discussion. www.all4shooters.com. According to journalists of this edition, the release in Russia of .338 Lapua Magnum and 7,62x51 (.308 Win) caliber for the ORSIS T-5000 sniper rifle was mastered by the Ulyanovsk Cartridge Factory at the beginning of the 2014 year. According to the head of the Ulyanovsk enterprise, Alexander Votyakov, the plant bought modern equipment from the Italian company VASINI Srl for the release of these cartridges. The new equipment provides high-precision assembly of all the components of the cartridge, as well as automatic control of its main design parameters. In addition, in June 2015 of the year, the Novosibirsk Cartridge Plant (Refinery) launched the production of .338 Lapua Magnum hunting cartridges with a shell bullet (FMJ, gram weight 16,2, tompac shell) and a brass sleeve. Despite the fact that the purpose of the manufactured ammunition is declared as “hunting”, Russian security forces have already shown interest in the patron. Moreover, snipers of one of the FSB units even conducted test shooting with these cartridges.

If we talk about the cartridge 7,62x51 (.308 Win), then the release of its counterparts was successfully established in the Soviet Union in 1975 year, after General Secretary L.I. Brezhnev received as a gift from the American President Nixon rifled carbine caliber .308 Win. Ammunition, which in the USSR received the designation 7,62x51A, produced ammunition factories in Barnaul, Novosibirsk and Tula. In 1990, the cartridge was replaced with the 7,62x51М hunting cartridge interchangeable with the western one. In addition, the country launched production of NATO’s 7,62xXNNUMX mm caliber cartridges for export to other countries - with tracer and armor-piercing bullets, as well as with heat-resistant bullets. . Thus, with regard to ammunition for the sniper complex created under the ROC "Tochnost", Dmitry Rogozin is generally right. True, with a reservation - the Russian industry produces these high-precision ammunition using imported production equipment. On the problems of the Russian machine tool industry and the share of Russian and foreign machine tools in domestic enterprises today you can write separate books.

If we talk about the optoelectronic part of the sniper complex, here the main headache of domestic manufacturers is dependence on foreign suppliers of bolometric matrices that are necessary for thermal imaging sights, and, as a result, their overestimated cost. Most of them, including the company “Daedalus”, until recently used the matrix produced by the French company ULIS. True, in August 2016, representatives of the holding "Roselectronika" Reported about the start of preparation for the production of own matrixes, so that in the future the Russian thermal imaging equipment should receive only the domestic "stuffing". On this occasion, the representatives of the industry themselves today have a healthy skepticism, especially when it comes to numbers at the 10 level of thousands of manufactured bolometric matrices, while the Russian military are ordering thermal sights almost by the piece. At the same time, the development of this segment will definitely take time. Most likely, the import substitution here will concern, first of all, not small arms sights, but more priority areas, which are modern sighting systems installed on various armored vehicles.

Technologies and design Orsis T-5000 M

Unfortunately, information about exactly what changes have been made to the design of the Orsis T-5000 M sniper rifle by specialists from Klimovsk is currently not available to mere mortals. But what exactly the developer laid in this rifle, we can tell, thanks to the official website of the company Orsis. High-precision rifle Orsis T-5000 M was created in close cooperation with professional shooters, the weapon has the consumer properties necessary for the domestic market. This is a multiply-charged high-precision rifle with manual reloading, a sliding bolt, and also two lugs. Initially, the rifle was created for universal use. Characteristics of weapons allow trained shooters to provide high accuracy at long distances (up to one and a half kilometers). In addition, the rifle provides a high level of comfort of the shooter, both in the process of preparing to commit a shot, and in the process of the shot itself and return from it. It also provides a quick return to the line of sight, good ergonomics and high reliability.

Orsis T-5000 M, orsis.com

ORSIS believes that a rifle is geometry. Therefore, the accuracy of all components of the T-5000 rifle and the quality of its final assembly guarantee high accuracy and controllability of the weapon already in the process of firing. The trunks of ORSIS rifles were obtained using the trellis planing method on CNC machines - today it is the most accurate method for producing barrels, in which the tolerances on the depth of the rifling are less than 0,0025 mm and in the rifling step - 0,004 mm on the 1 m. -5000 is obtained from stainless martensitic aging steel, and the central hole is obtained on an CNC erosion machine. Many elements of precision weapons are processed in the final quenched state in order to ensure maximum geometric accuracy. All steel parts are made only from stainless steel. The choice of high-quality materials and special care in manufacturing allow us to talk about the increased operational life of the rifles of the ORSIS company regarding models from other manufacturers of the same calibers.

The rifle T-5000 M is made of aluminum alloy D16T, the folding unit is made of hardened stainless steel, it is specially designed so as not to "break" during operation, even in the toughest calibers in terms of recoil. Plastic parts of the rifle are obtained from the most high-strength modern polymers, all connections are made only "steel to steel", for this purpose steel parts were specially installed in the box of a high-precision rifle.

Butt rifle got adjustable cheek and butt pad. The sniper rifle bed can also be equipped with a monopod, tactical forearm. The butt plate is made of special wear-resistant rubber and has a height adjustment. In the folded position, the rifle butt is securely held by a mechanical lock that closes the weapon reloading handle.

Orsis T-5000 M, orsis.com

The weight and balance of the T-5000 M rifle are calculated so that when fired, the recoil goes strictly backwards. Thanks to this, the shooter can control the target even during the shot. The muzzle brake mounted on the rifle is quite effective, it allows to reduce the recoil level by almost 50%, and the adjustable descent allows the shooter to fire a shot without disturbing the aiming quality. The stability and high rigidity of the rifle box retain “zero” zeroing even after a long time, noted on the official website of the ORSIS company.

Well, the Orsis-5000 rifle has already been tested, and has shown itself. A direct path of "precision" to the troops. If only the quality does not fall during mass production. And, of course, the quality of cartridges must not only be tightened up, but radically changed.
I just didn’t find it. Are they releasing 338.LM with us? If not, then the troops are not allowed.

The most ugly thing is that today we are grumbling at the absence of our machine tools, and in the very beginning of the 90s, it was with the destruction of machine tool industry that the destruction of the USSR began and was continued in the Russian Federation. Not in one of the former republics it is not there, the ns has just begun to revive, and then all sorts of obstacles are constantly being thrust at it.

Well, in addition to "specialists", we also have a fairly capacious civilian market for greenhouses, especially if they achieve a digestible price.

Cool rifle! He fired from the SVD in the army, with a larger caliber than the AK-74M, its recoil is softer and throws less than Kalash. And this one has even better balance, though the caliber is bigger, I would like to try shooting from it ....

:). That's for sure. My first acquaintance with SVD (and by that time I had shot cartridges from the AK-74, probably in the amount of my weight) ended up by almost knocking my eyes out with its optics (there was no rubber eyecup on the sight, so I pulled it on -nearer). The return on SVD is not weak.
