French armored vehicle Higuard class "medium MRAP"

A military unit of Renault has signed a contract for 22 wheeled armored vehicles Higuard, which will supply the Qatar internal security units in the next two years. This is the first order of an armored vehicle of the MEDIUM MRAP series from the French company RTD.

The armored vehicle was developed by the company's designers with its own funds. The chassis of the military Sherpa 10 truck is taken as a basis. The same chassis is used and SAU "CAESAR", which are used in units of the French army. The armored vehicle is provided with a high-positioned steel armored case and a bottom of a V-shaped design. The bottom is designed and manufactured by Centigon based in the United States. Ahead are the driver-mechanic and car commander. In the landing compartment can accommodate up to ten people of the combat unit with their weapons. For the transportation of personnel, the landing compartment is equipped with explosion-proof seats. Standard 2-x wing rear doors are available to enter and exit the armored vehicle. For Qatari internal divisions, an armored vehicle will be equipped for entry-exit ramp with a folding-type power drive. For firing in an armored vehicle, a 12.7 or 7.62 mm machine gun or a 40 mm caliber grenade launcher is installed. The installation site is either an armored small tower or an open-type turret with remote control.
