Bykhov airbase

Writes antares-610: At the Bykhov airfield until 1990, the 57th Smolensk marine missile carrier was based aviation Division (mrad) of the Baltic Air Force fleet and consisted of two Guards Red Banner Regiments: the 170th Smolensk and 240th Sevastopol-Berlin Mrap. Operated aircraft Tu-22M2 and M3, and, earlier, Tu-16.

Bykhov airbase

1. Some airfield facilities are adapted for civilian needs. But the building of the KDP is abandoned and recently burned down.

3. Inside there is nothing reminding of the purpose of the building.

4. The airfield has two lanes. Small, 2 km long, was intended for fighters covering the airfield. Nearby were parking for them.

5. Now it hosts racing tournaments, driving school classes.

6. The main runway has a length of 3 km and is built for supersonic rocket carriers.

7. In the woods behind the airfield there is a concrete taxiway along which caponiers are located for the Tu-22М2 of both regiments.

8. Now this vast farm is in an abandoned state.

9. There were missile carriers.

13. To the south of the airfield was his command bunker, today also abandoned. I didn’t go inside, but if someone has the opportunity to visit it, then by clicking on the image, you can find out its coordinates.

14. An anthill next to a fairly overgrown bunker.

15. And from the aerodrome betonka, which has now become a rural road, leads to the RTB (military base for the storage of nuclear ammunition) of the Air Force of the Baltic Fleet, the 24-th army arsenal of nuclear weapons. Here work was carried out under the heading "Top Secret of Special Importance."

16. In a former fuel depot, one of the collective farmers set up a warehouse for themselves, or a garage for a tractor.

17. Assembly and assembly case. A truck (probably, YAZ-219) with nuclear weapons in the back of the gate, and, accompanied by several machine gunners, headed for the airfield where Tu-16 was waiting for him. The base was built in 1957 year. On the sidebar is an inscription above the gate indicating 1955 year.

18. A trolley with a product from the storehouse was brought into a distant gate, it was overloaded with a crane-beam and maintenance work was carried out.

19. Here, in particular, the warheads were dismantled and cleared when they were removed from service. With the observance of all precautionary measures, explosive elements, electric detonators were removed, the central part (CC) and the uranium-plutonium nucleus (in the form of “quail egg”) were removed from the sphere of explosive. The seized TsCh was loaded into a storage container (in which it arrived at the time), and then transported to the manufacturer.

20. The core, the most dangerous component, was taken out of the container in disposable gloves. There was a limited working day. This is the whole "protection" and consisted. Dosimeters were not.

21. In a straight line from the gate, the tractor entered the gate of the building where the items were stored. Already by the middle of 1958, the casemates of the special object were filled with products to the eyeballs, and since then they have never been empty.

22. To the left of the gate is the entrance to the outbuildings.

23. It was closed by two semicircular security doors, filled with concrete from the inside. Internal marauders could not pull out just because it does not physically pass through the opening.

24. Door hinge.

25. Inside, little has survived.

27. The entrance to the vault itself is protected by three valves of more than a meter thickness.

28. There are emergency hatches from the rooms adjoining the sealed turns through them.

29. Tools for closing the gate were also stored here.

30. And also located powerful HLF.

31. In the heart of the special object - the main hall.

32. Trolleys with products were taken out of the storage gates (right and left) along the rails, opposite each gate there was a turning circle, after passing which the products were sent to the exit. There is also a campaign banner “Conducting maintenance of products - the performance of a combat mission”.

33. The room where the "products" were stored. Former saint-saints. In one such dungeon there were several warheads at once. In the middle of the visible rails, which moved the trolley.

At this meeting with the air base "Bykhov" can be considered valid.

A concrete proposal - to create and base an aircraft of the "end of the world" on this abandoned garbage dump - means the remotorization of the AN-2 with a 12N360 tank diesel engine with a cargo propeller and hauling the planes onto carbon cloth. Such transport will allow you to fly a couple of weeks in April 13, and then, if you're lucky. This will help preserve the local organization and throw hoisting and rope equipment on the plateau in the Volkhov, Izborsk, Samarskaya Luka regions, which will rise there to evacuate people there.
Interested in the opinion of individuals.
The initial components in Russia are AN-2, diesel engines, carbon fabric, abandoned airfields, Smolensk aircraft plant.
There is a point - an increase in the% of survivors, their connection.
We need people and means to build the system.

A similar situation with the air base of the village. Katunino. When I (1969) was based missile and reconnaissance naval aviation Tu-16K10, later Tu22. You can look at GOOGL maps search Katunino Arkhangelsk region.
