North Macedonia handed over four Su-25 attack aircraft to Ukraine, requiring major repairs. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the country Slavyanka Petrovska.
The head of the military department of North Macedonia confirmed that Skopje had transferred weapons to Kyiv, including four attack aircraft of the Soviet-made Su-25, and all the aircraft were unsuitable for operation. When this happened, the minister did not specify, but according to available data from open sources, the transfer took place last year. In total, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received three single-seat Su-25S and one two-seat Su-25UB.
The equipment supplied to Ukraine consists of small arms weapons and ammunition to it, artillery pieces, tanks, fighters "Su", anti-tank weapons and air defense, as well as equipment for the military aviation
- said Petrovska, specifying that all the weapons sent to Kyiv did not belong to the Macedonian army.
The fact that Kyiv was to receive four attack aircraft from North Macedonia was reported back in August last year. According to the Macedonian press, Skopje was preparing to hand over to Kyiv four Su-25 attack aircraft purchased in Ukraine in 2001. Representatives of Ukraine arrived in the republic to prepare equipment, who actively worked with aircraft at one of the military airfields of the Macedonian Air Force.
At the same time, the Macedonian Ministry of Defense last year neither confirmed nor denied the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine, the minister's statement is the first official report on this event.
