The Ministry of Defense completed tests of the Kinzhal hypersonic complex in the Arctic

The Ministry of Defense has completed tests of the Kinzhal hypersonic complex in Arctic conditions, the last tests were carried out at the end of last year.

The military recognized the results of tests of the "Dagger" complex conducted in the Arctic as successful. Testing, which includes not only combat missile launches, but also combat training patrols of the carriers of the MiG-31 complex, as well as many other parameters, was carried out for several years and ended at the end of last year.

As reported "News" with reference to military sources, tests of the MiG-31K in the Arctic provided aviation Northern fleet. She also acted as a means of objective control during combat missile launches. The first official launch of the Kinzhal hypersonic missile from a MiG-31K aircraft in the North took place in November 2019. Details of the tests were not given, but it was reported that the missile, which reached Mach 10, hit a ground target at the Pemboi test site northeast of Vorkuta.

In 2020, the Ministry of Defense made a fundamental decision to arm the naval aviation of the Northern Fleet with the Kinzhal hypersonic system. Last year, the creation of infrastructure for the maintenance and operation of hypersonic weapons.

Recall that the newest Russian air carrier "Dagger" includes the MiG-31K fighter-interceptor, specially upgraded as a carrier of a hypersonic missile, which is an aircraft version of the Iskander-M OTRK missile.

The first MiG-31K squadron with Kinzhals has been on combat duty in the Southern Military District since December 2017, and since April 2018 MiG-31K aircraft have been carrying out regular flights over the Black and Caspian Seas. In addition, last summer a pair of MiG-31Ks were transferred to the Khmeimim air base in Syria, from where the crews flew over the Mediterranean Sea, getting acquainted with a possible theater of operations.

At the end of last year, the first regiment of MiG-31K fighters with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles was formed as part of the Aerospace Forces.

Everyone is getting ready, that's fine. If climate warming does not fail, then the struggle for control of shipping and resources in the Arctic may intensify in the next 20-30 years.

hi I think that it is not something that "can", but this struggle will certainly intensify. The United States would already like to deprive Russia of the right to the Northern Sea Route, despite the full right of Russia to own and dispose of this route in high latitudes

      As a result

You can get a good result by announcing some kind of naval exercises (Supposedly, with the participation of nuclear submarines), not to conduct them in the area of the exercises, but simply to test the "Packet-NK" ...
Amazing results can be obtained... belay

Not for this, Russia has been mastering cold lands and cold expanses of water for so many years, in order to please foreign grabbers and thieves, and haters of Russia with an "international treasure"! Our coast-dwellers on their kochs from the old Slavic times mastered Siberia, the Arctic, Novaya Zemlya, Severnaya Zemlya, Svalbard --- Russian Grumant! And the Cossack chieftains Dezhnev, Khabarov, Atlasov, and many many others! And the Soviet polar explorers --- O. Yu. Schmidt, Chkalov, Papanin, Gusev, Treshnikov, Somov! And the names on the map: the Kara Sea, the Laptev Sea, the Bellingshausen Sea, the Lazarev Sea, the Somov Sea, our Antarctic stations --- "Vostok", "Mirny"! As well as for some reason "Academician Vernadsky" who went to Ukraine. And the islands and archipelagos in the Pacific Ocean!
I remembered an old children's cartoon, one of the most beloved --- the fears of the protagonist of the Soviet cartoon "Styopa-sailor" about the fact that everything has already been discovered are groundless! So many more discoveries to come!

    rocket reaching Mach 10
Pretty fast product) But if I understand the principle of operation correctly, then the carrier must be in a range of heights with a certain speed and direction, which clearly increases the enemy’s chances of intercepting at least the carrier.

The range of the missile is said to be 2000 km.

They write that installed on the MiG-31 2000 km, on the Tu-22M3 - 3000 km. Apparently, taking into account the range of the carrier.

Intercept the 31st? Well, as they say, trying is not torture. Yes laughing

And what should be the interception radius if the range of the missile is 2000 km?

That's right, if you know how and how you can intercept the carrier at a distance of 1000 km.

Mig 31 is a rather difficult object to intercept, given the possible theater of operations using it.

It seems that the MiG-31 fighters will cease to be fighters and all will be redesigned for carriers of "Daggers". There are not so many of them, new ones are not expected, for some time they will serve as a platform for launching missiles. It is a pity that only one missile can be carried.
