New Pentagon budget. War against all
The total US defense budget for 2019 year will be 716 billion dollars. This, of course, is a very large amount. But some experts, including American ones, believe that in view of inflation, he does not even reach some records of the past.
From the fact that the new budget is really anti-Russian, we can note the following.
4,6 billion dollars allocated to the "European Initiative containment." Given the fact that, apart from Russia, there is no one to restrain in Europe, it is clear to whom and for what these funds will go. For example, Balts will get 100 million dollars for "increased defense capability." In itself, this is like a dead poultice, but in the total mass of efforts to counter Moscow this sum may have some value.
250 million dollars promised to Ukraine. However, here, as they say, there is one nuance: Kiev will receive this money only after a report to the Senate by US Secretary of Defense James Mattis. And even then, only if he confirms that the Maidanian leadership of Ukraine spends the money previously allocated for its intended purpose, and not plunder it.
This fad is very symptomatic. Money is already allocated quite a bit, and there is also an officially expressed doubt about the corruption impeccability of the current Ukrainian leaders. And if the media continues to shake up scandals related to corruption in Ukraine, then money can flow away, and the scandal will reach a very serious level.
It is clear that political motives may outweigh any charges. But we must not forget that American politicians, even presidents, are terribly afraid of their congressmen and senators. Investigation into some of these representative bodies of the government, as is known, sometimes led to impeachment. And how many politicians it cost a career - without thinking you can’t even say ...
The really serious anti-Russian point of the new military budget is allocations for the development of low-power nuclear weapons.
Yes, no matter how anyone relates to this, there is only one explanation for such a move: the United States took note of Russia's readiness to handle a limited nuclear conflict in Europe. Formally, this is tied to alleged violations of the INF Treaty by Russia, but the Americans have so far failed to prove these violations. But the desire to somehow arrest the superiority of Russia in tactical nuclear warheads, and at the same time scare Moscow by the presence of a nuclear at the European theater weapons low power, which in the event of anything can be in the hands of the same Poles, they can be traced clearly. Let me remind you that this year the Americans have already begun work on the modernization of the free-fall nuclear bomb B61, which should go into mass production as early as 2020.
Another budget item provides for the allocation of funds for the design and construction of new icebreakers!
You must admit that it is very difficult to imagine that these icebreakers will be used for combat operations against Canada. Or that they will find use in the Persian Gulf against Iran. Or in the South China Sea ... It is unlikely that several other types of ships are in demand there.
So, one thing remains - Russia. And it is the most northern of its waters. I (the author) now remembered furious comments on my previous article on the probable blockade of Russian ports. Here you have a "spherical horse in a vacuum." Americans know nothing about horses and even icebreakers are preparing for a possible aggravation of relations. Although in the comments to this article it is possible to prove that I am wrong again, and the Iranian coast is about to be knocked down by mighty meter ices ...
Sorry for the slight lyrical digression. We continue.
Probably, a detailed analysis of the Pentagon’s new budget has some independent value. But (let's be frank) except for professionals. It is enough for an ordinary man in the street in parallel how many thousands of soldiers the American army will increase, how many percent their salary will grow and how much money will go to support the Pentagon’s apparatus itself.
Therefore, we note only some points that are interesting both in their own right and in connection with certain geopolitical circumstances.
For example, it is very interesting and significant that the senators and congressmen officially forbade their military to deliver F-35 fighters to Turkey. True, not for good, but until the Pentagon studies all the consequences of Ankara’s purchase of the Russian C-400 air defense system.
It is safe to say that this will not definitely improve the US-Turkish relations. And given the role that Turkey plays in NATO and in the geopolitical alignments at the southern borders of Russia, this item can even be called frankly pro-Russian and more than compensating for all the truly anti-Russian budget items mentioned above.
Another interesting article of the new budget is “overcoming the crisis in the military aviation"! The funds allocated for this program will mainly go to the repair and modernization of fourth-generation aircraft, the average age of which has exceeded 26 years. Given the very high load on the US Air Force, this is a lot, and many planes really need additional measures to ensure their combat effectiveness.
Probably, we should not be misled by the title of this article - the US Air Force is still a very formidable force. And, nevertheless, it is pleasant to note that things are not as smooth with a potential opponent as he sometimes tries to demonstrate ...
Also allocated funds for the purchase of X-NUMX fighter F-77. There is nothing unexpected in this, but somehow it is not very pleasant to realize that “the complete failure of the American military industrial complex”, as some of our patriots call it, is in demand by the American army and goes into series, and “unparalleled in the world” Su-35 is so probably will remain a small-scale model of military equipment, which is in demand only at parades and air shows.
Sad citizens, ...
Probably, we still should not call this US military budget "anti-Russian." Anti-Russian there is "not much more" than usual. And certainly not more so than anti-Chinese or anti-Iranian.
Moreover, there is nothing revolutionary or unexpected in it.
It’s just a very large budget of a very dangerous country actively preparing for a world war for global leadership. And it is from this that we should proceed.
And what conclusions to draw from this, the case is exclusively personal. The most reasonable conclusion, in my opinion: if we want peace, then preparations for war should still be accelerated ...
