On the morning of May 23, on the Facebook page of the Donbass battalion commander Sergey Semenchenko, it was reported that the fighters of the battalion were ambushed near the village of Karlovka in the Donetsk region.

“Machine gunners, snipers and RPGs are working against the battalion. There are wounded. We cannot move away, because some people are surrounded, ”the message says. Later, Semenchenko reported that an armored personnel carrier had arrived at the ambush site.

Newspaper "Sight" notes that the Ukrainian army ignored Donbass requests for help.

“All my phone calls to the command of the army forces with a request to send reinforcements were not heard,” said Semenchenko.

According to preliminary data, during the collision nine battalion fighters were injured.

Earlier, the regional administration reported that the Donbass battalion controls a number of districts of the Donetsk region in order to ensure safety in the upcoming presidential elections in Ukraine. On May 22, the battalion commander declared that the western Donbass was controlled by his fighters and the Ukrainian authorities, adding that "Donetsk time has come."

    At night, our detachment attacked a checkpoint near the village. Seleznevka (about two kilometers east of Slavyansk - north of Semenovka. 1 armored personnel carrier was destroyed (burned out), another one was knocked out. Our losses - 1 volunteer.

    Today at 17.30 (as promised - the artillery positions were placed outside the city limits) combined strikes on two enemy groups in the village of Kombikormovy and at the BZS checkpoint. The main efforts were concentrated on the latter - 90 82-mm mines and 25 Nona shells. There was a little hell - a gas station exploded almost immediately ... There were several detonations of ammunition (they had a lot of things there and one of the headquarters of the National Guard was located). It seems that the ukrov have losses and, I hope, considerable. Moreover, we had never fired at them with artillery at this point during the day and they felt very at ease there.

    The artillery of the invincible Ukrainian army on Karachun (and not only there) the advancement of the column and the shelling itself missed and until the very removal of our batteries from the positions could not make a single shot. However, judging by where they started firing late, they did not find out at all.

    Another 80 volunteers came to us per day, including about 10 from Russia.
