“Russian special forces are far from meeting Western standards”: in the US press about the MTR of Russia

395

Russian and American special forces constantly "intersect" in various parts of the world. This gave grounds to compare both forces on the pages of the publication Strategy Page (USA).

At the height of the Cold War, about 30 thousand special forces were in the service of the Soviet troops. Most of them were conscripts (70-80%), but careful selection and a tough training program made it possible to make elite fighters out of them. As the author writes, the special forces effectively proved themselves during the Afghan campaign:

The Afghans learned to retreat from any area where special forces operated.

According to him, after the collapse of the USSR, the "rapid degradation" of the Russian special operations troops began. According to him, its peak came in 1999-2004, mentioning as "failures" the operation to free the hostages in the theater "Nord-Ost" and the school in Beslan.

In the first case, hundreds of civilians were killed, in the second, the building was stormed in a combined arms style, using RPGs, rocket launchers and tanks.

However, after that the situation began to change. So, during the Georgian campaign of 2008, the reconnaissance battalion of special forces in the rear guard entered enemy territory, "demonstrating a high degree of skill." As the author explains, in Syria, the Russian special forces managed to keep Bashar al-Assad in power, "despite the seemingly insurmountable threat from the rebels in 2011."

Here, Russian special operations troops clashed with their American counterparts and found that the US forces were more formidable than expected.

- the author writes.

As the observer points out, at present, the American special forces evaluate the Russian MTR as "quite combat-ready force", which "can compete" and "poses a more serious threat than during the Cold War." But in terms of the number of this type of troops of the Russian Federation (about 10 thousand people, of which more than half are contract soldiers) is seriously inferior to the United States, where there are five times more fighters) \.

SOCOM military personnel, meeting with their Russian counterparts in several regions of the world, found that Russian special forces are still imposing, but far from up to Western standards.

- noted in the US press.

It is not entirely clear why the Russian special forces, who have their own richest school of training and combat use, should generally meet Western standards.

After reading the comments, especially from armchair analysts who based their entire understanding of the MTR on CS and MOG, on Hollywood crafts and comics, you understand how far people are from reality. To begin with, a huge mistake, but rather a direct and conscious state crime and betrayal, for which, according to our “new” tradition, no one responded, was the destruction of the unique and only one of its kind in the world KGB training center, where there were unique instructors, in any other country were worth their weight in gold. Now there would be no need to invent a bicycle.
Without at all begging the quality of training of our specialists (I know what I’m talking about), the efficiency is high with an excellent methodology. I wouldn’t speak so disingenuously when mentioning pipifax about “our partners.” This is a strong, persistent, motivated to succeed, well-equipped, competent opponent. The main difference is that traditionally they have absolutely no moral, universal human barriers when performing the assigned task; the winner is not judged, i.e. Military personnel are exempt from any criminal prosecution for any of their actions upon successful completion of the assigned task; nothing restrains them; crimes committed outside the country are not such. Traditionally, Americans have excellent knowledge and, since childhood, have excellent command of all types of small arms and bladed weapons, confidently drive almost any vehicle, and have excellent survival skills on any terrain and in the most difficult conditions. Incl. This is a strong and very unpredictable, insidious enemy, in order to achieve the goal, not disdaining absolutely any methods and means.

Well I do not know. It's not a competition among special forces groups, so the Americans have a hard time getting into the top ten.

According to Western standards, a special forces soldier, like any other NATO serviceman, having found himself, so to speak, in a difficult situation, has the right to surrender, notifying the opposing side that he is surrendering and must be provided with at least three meals a day (if required, then dietary, as well as kosher and other specific types of food) and the best treatment in accordance with the conventions on prisoners.
And the Russians, who do not meet Western standards, instead of prudently surrendering in a hopeless situation, fight to the bitter end, often turning the situation from hopeless for themselves into hopeless for those who undertook to attack them. In addition, when trying to explain to the Russians that it is better for them to surrender, they can detonate a grenade without letting go of it. Which categorically does not correspond to advanced Western standards.

Afghanistan has shown what the US and British specialists are like.

    Even when we were there.
The father here once talked about a meeting between ours and the Americans there, organized by the command “to reduce general tension”...
This was when this happened, please clarify. sad

I admit that the technical equipment of the American fighter is better than ours, but if necessary, ours will take away everything he needs from his American “colleague” and complete the task, I’m not sure that he will return the property, but then it won’t matter.

Yes, you can remember the famous video about foreign “warriors” landing in the mud from a boat that approached the shore (there were British there, EMNIP).

      [media=http://youtube.com/watch?v=QaxQGfFaxds]

The first jumps onto the shore and flies knee-deep into the sticky mud. Complete immobilization and inability to move. Instead of moving away and landing in another place, after which it would be normal to disembark and help a stuck comrade, the rest of the dozen would-be warriors also plop down in the mud, get stuck and begin to flounder there, some even to the point of crawling on their bellies. Bottom line: each of the “tough warriors” has a couple of tens of kilobucks worth of bullshit hanging on them, and in order to quickly and forever end their torment, one Russian conscript with a well-sharpened MSL would be enough!

This American expert probably judges American special forces solely by Hollywood action films. Oh yes, these specialists there are incredibly cool. Only for some reason in Afghanistan these superheroes could not do anything with the militants. They laughed at the Soviet Army, and they themselves disgraced themselves even more.

complete insanity about some standards and who decides what standards and compliances? We have enough experience in the fate of the country and the conclusions of the century are drawn to us, and not by those who caved in or bowed down to someone, they don’t take our wars as examples and don’t look into anyone’s mouth, but they protect the homeland and citizens, that’s where strength lies, brother!

If you choose the right criteria, you can accuse anyone of not meeting anything. However, I must say that the fact that Russian special forces use FOREIGN optics, uniforms, equipment, radio electronics, and, sometimes, even weapons speaks volumes. If a country cannot produce even normal collimators and sights, this is a PROBLEM; if a country cannot produce REO, this is a problem. If you don’t have YOUR normal NVGs, that’s a problem. If a country can’t even do normal camouflages, having its own special forces running around in an American multi-camera is a HUGE problem. By the way, the last one is especially unclear to me. A very good Surpat has been created in Russia. In Russia, the magnificent SS Partisan was created (a modification of the SS Eichenlaubmaster, and in Russia the excellent Smog was created (a modification of the British DPM). So I think that in some ways, for example, in equipment, Russian special forces are really inferior to the special forces of the USA, England, Japan, Israel and even China, but only in EQUIPMENT.

Many specialists in different countries, including the USA, use foreign types of weapons, optics, equipment, etc. They take the best that has been developed in the world - this is normal practice.

I served in the US Army for 6 years. Naturally, not in special forces, but in ordinary infantry. But I saw the special forces and talked with them. I have NEVER seen them have equipment made anywhere EXCEPT the USA. I generally held their NVGs in my hands - a newer version of what the Army uses. The radios are also ours, more sophisticated than the army ones, but still Made in the USA. The rangers I saw had the same M4s and M249s as regular infantry.

We have too different understandings about special forces.... if you analyze the failures of American specialists (Delta, Green Berets and Rangers, SEALs and others), it will become clear. that striped ones shit themselves everywhere.....

That's right, the tasks are different. Their special forces serve the master's corporations, stage coups, and liquidate those who are objectionable. So this is a purely commercial project. The Russian special forces have peaceful purposes.

Well, yes... For commercial interests there are "Wagnerites"...

Their special forces with information from satellites, under the cover of drones, are of course stronger than Bedouins with Berdan guns, which they have proven more than once

A Bedouin from Berdan in his garden can spoil the blood of the special forces. He is at home, where every melon bush is loved and attractive. And ambushes and mining are carried out, and you go without reconnaissance from a drone through someone else’s hostile territory... “Go, go, Vasya...”
You cannot underestimate the enemy, even a Bedouin, and even more so foreign special forces! This is an extremely well-prepared, armed and equipped enemy who does not care about the casualties of the civilians; their main goal is to complete the combat mission.

Thus, during the 2008 Georgian campaign, a rearguard special forces reconnaissance battalion entered enemy territory, “demonstrating a high degree of skill.”

A reconnaissance battalion as part of the rearguard?! Wonderful are your works, Lord! And who was in the vanguard?

Most of all, our Special Forces are inferior to the American ones in mobility. Having transferred to armored Tigers, the special forces began to look like the hulking jocks of the riot police, they completely forgot how to run with their legs...
Each Special Forces brigade needs a full-time helicopter squadron to provide the necessary mobility and force projection:
    -12 transport-assault Mi-8 AMTSH-VN,
    - a link of 4 reconnaissance and strike Ka-52M.
    - a link of light, inconspicuous helicopters such as Ansat or Ka-60.

And what to be surprised and what to expect from the American scribbler. Of course, Amer’s special forces are AWESOME, and Russian, yes, are not bad... not bad, but they don’t live up to Amer’s.... they don’t measure up.
So what? What matters is not what the scribblers scribbled on paper, but the real level of combat training.
If you read the bourgeoisie, it turns out that the Amer tankers are the best, and that they don’t go to competitions so that the real state of things doesn’t come out, you don’t need to mention this. And they have the best flyers and sailors, and everything you can imagine. True, it is not clear why they quickly fled from Afghanistan, but that is “another matter.”
