Brothers

Dimka and Leshka Mineev, stretching their arms at the seams, stopped at attention and were afraid to move. Even blinked cautiously. The test lasted as many 30 endless minutes - and all this was at home, in the kitchen, where my head was spinning from the aroma of hot mother's borsch. On the contrary, at the table, as usual, my father was having dinner, hanging his army tunic on the back of a chair ...

Brothers

Until now, Lieutenant Colonel Special Forces Alexey Alexandrovich Mineev recalls these homework (now, of course, with a smile) as the worst child punishment that he and his brother sometimes received from their father for their boyish offenses. Father - Alexander G. Mineev - was able, without even raising his voice, to explain to his restless boys what discipline and duty are.
The cadet of the sergeant’s school, Alexander Mineev, had his first dismissal when in the city park of the suburban Zagorsk he invited his future wife, Nina, to the dance. She, a zagorka, worked as a technologist at a knitting factory. He, a soldier from far Nalchik, served in military service in one of the military units of 12-th Main Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Defense. She is an actress of factory amateur performance, a sportswoman. He is a volleyball player, a strongman with the army nickname Spartak. Meetings, intimate conversations ... After two and a half years, Senior Sergeant Mineev, having finished the service, returned home. From the mysterious Caucasus, where the young Nina had never been, began to come frequent persistently gentle letters. At home in Nalchik, Alexander Mineev, without thinking twice, went to serve in the engineering department of the military unit, which is still known as Nalchik-20. A year later, he came for a bride to a quiet town near Moscow to take her to his place, to the Caucasus.

From the pages of old photo albums, which Nina Grigorievna and Alexander Grigorievich Mineev carefully keep, two naughty little boys are smiling - Dima and Lesha, brothers with a difference of two years. Since childhood, they were inseparable - they disappeared on the sports ground and on the hippodrome, they hunted boars with their father, they crawled all the surroundings. But especially the boys liked hiking. Mom did not have time to collect their backpacks. Sometimes they left for several days in the forest, in the mountains, spent the night in tents, in self-made huts, which were made from improvised material. After a few years, the life of the Mineev brothers will not change outwardly - mountains and forests will continue to be their home, only instead of a child's game you will have to take part in hostilities.
The elder brother Dmitry Mineev, having served urgent in artillery near Belgorod, entered the Samarkand Higher Command Automobile School. He decided to become an officer. Soon the younger brother Alexey is also called up for service. And surprisingly, it is sent to the car part in the same Samarkand. This part closely adjoined the school where Mineev Sr. studied. The brothers were together again. In four hands, they brought Uzbek sugar melons to their parents on leave ...

At the beginning of the 90-s in the Caucasus, it became restless. The secret object of the Ministry of Defense, located in the military town of Nalchik-20, was hastily withdrawn from Kabardino-Balkaria. Internal troops came to the place of the army, or rather, the 8-I operational brigade. Not everything went smoothly in Samarkand - after the collapse of the Union, it was possible to continue studying and serving in Uzbekistan, but under the flag of another state. The brothers returned home to Nalchik.
Ensign Dmitriy Mineev was one of the first in the internal troops to pass a qualifying examination for a green intelligence officer. Upon his return from Samarkand, he was recruited into the reconnaissance 8 brigade of the operational forces of the internal troops in Nalchik. Sergeant Alexei Mineev, meanwhile, became a "krapovik" - he decided to try his hand at the special forces of the same brigade. Entrance tests - tests on physical training - passed easily. Given the past of boxing, he was appointed first as a hand-to-hand combat instructor, and then commander of an assault team in a special-purpose training company. In that momentous year, the brothers not only passed the beret exams together, but also played two weddings. Shel 1994 year.

The war spread the brothers Mineev. Each performed tasks as part of his unit. The Nalchik special forces group, in which Aleksey served, first participated in the Ossetian-Ingush conflict and immediately entered Chechnya from Chermen. After several months of marching insomnia, the mud of mountain roads and the first clashes in their lives, the Mineev brothers met near the village of Orekhovo near Urus-Martan. After the storming of the village, a group of special forces took their initial positions, preparing for a new battle, and the scouts, among them Dmitry Mineev, settled down on a nearby street. It was difficult to call it a meeting, they only managed to embrace frantically and again to their places - the storming of the village of Old Achkhoi was coming. In the evening, Alexey received an order from the command to return to the permanent location in Nalchik in connection with the arrival of the planned replacement. Dmitry stayed in Chechnya ...
A few days later, Alexey arrived already in Vladikavkaz - to take the body of his brother from the hospital. In the mountains during the conduct of reconnaissance and search actions an armored personnel carrier, Ensign Dmitry Mineev, was shot down by an anti-tank gun. A fire flash of explosion covered the platoon, there was a rupture of the lungs, plus multiple shrapnel wounds ...

“Let us pay you your wages yourself, just leave the service,” Mother begged Alexei after losing her eldest son. But he could not leave the group, his comrades, to quit the kid soldiers. In it, with a new force, a desire arose, if not to avenge a brother, then at least to return peace to its native land. "What would you do in my place?" I certainly would not hide. And you can die in civilian life in an ordinary accident, ”Alexey argued to his father. Alexander Grigorievich had nothing to say, he understood his son perfectly and was proud of his determination in his heart.
Ensign Aleksei Mineev was sent from Nalchik to study in Leningrad - to the Institute of Internal Troops, after which he returned to his special forces group as an officer. And on October 5 1998, by order of the Minister of the Interior, the 17 squad was launched. The detachment was formed from training companies of special forces, which at the beginning of the 90-x were formed in Grateful, Vladikavkaz, Zelenokumsk, Neftekumsk and Nalchik ... After only three months, the detachment performed tasks in the border area between Stavropol and Chechnya. After the first war, the militants did not think to calm down and continued to conduct combat operations. And soon in Dagestan they rumbled. Business trips to restless republics began. Long and difficult business trips.
“The hardest thing was in the Chaban-mahi area. There the Sofrino brigade worked there, there were a lot of casualties, ”recalls Alexei Mineev, who was appointed commander of the 1998 platoon of the 1 group of the special task 1 group in 17. - In September, our squad sent 99 to storm. My birthday was just ... We completed the task, but also with losses, and there should be no losses in the special forces, because the soldiers are taught to survive and win. Many fighters went hand to hand. From the cliff one rushed and threw his opponent. Militants were hiding in herds of cows. They were not visible, so I had to fight them almost with bayonets. After the Shepherd Mahi stormed Grozny. Serious assault was. Tired people. After Grozny we were transferred to the mountainous part of Chechnya. All without a break. Over the years we have traveled all over Chechnya, far and wide. ”
Alexey Mineev became like a talisman of his squad. Co-workers knew: if Lech goes with them, it means that everyone will come back alive, and the task will be completed. Once in the confusion of battle, he made his way to his wounded soldier and, putting him on his shoulders, carried him out from under the fire. The guy survived. Another time, an officer blew himself up on a banner. The first to come to the aid was Mineev with his fighters, he tied up a comrade himself, organized escort, and called a helicopter. Alexey improved his combat skills, trained more than ever, because after each approach to the task he was simply obliged to return alive. It happened that subordinates saved their commander.
Winter. Special operation 17-th squad. Snow porridge on a mountain path. Lieutenant Colonel Alexei Mineev worked for the group commander. Passing forward the head patrol, he inadvertently slipped and fell from the slope, injured his arm, knocked out his knee joint, a terrible pain pierced his whole body — a little more and would have fallen into the abyss thirty meters deep ... Next was the deputy group - captain Babayan. Under the leadership of Mineev, he served from the very formation of the detachment. Suren and the fighters built a stretcher, the commander was laid and carried. Returning to base meant disrupting the operation - such a Mineev could not allow. They walked to the destination for eight hours, over rocks, through snow drifts, over the icy crust of the slopes, across a mountain river ... Overcoming pain, Mineev continued to lead the division. The efforts were not in vain: they completed the task - they undermined the militants' base and returned to the camp without loss by the same route.
Lieutenant Colonel Mineev went through all his posts from platoon to deputy commander of his unit, did not miss a single mission, and personally led responsible operations. A reconnaissance and search group led by Alexei Mineev recently went to one of these tasks in Chechnya. According to the radio interception, the gang leader hid high in the mountains. The bandit group itself was based a little lower. The commandos had to sneak secretly to the base of the militants, clarify the coordinates and adjust the actions of artillery and aviation, and destroy the remnants of the gang on their own. They advanced at night along the ridge - Lt. Col. Mineev, Captain Babayan, Senior Lieutenant Zemlyakov and young unshooted fighters - this was their first business trip for them. All twenty kilometers moved stealthily. Moving closer to the base, Mineev left Captain Babayan to command a cover group, and he, along with senior lieutenant Zemlyakov, made his way to the point from where the leader of the militants led the bandit group. Sneaked in unnoticed. They took the coordinates. Draw a diagram. Conversely, to their own, they crawled out already in a plastunsky way, to go unnoticed. Combining with the main forces of the group, Mineev passed the coordinates to the gunners. Half the battle was done. It remained to return to the point of temporary deployment. And here the young fighters realized why Lt. Col. Mineev had torn seven skins from them in training and drove them to march-throws. As soon as at least one was left behind, the group risked not returning from the task. But the lessons of Alexei Mineev were not in vain - after three hours, the special forces were already in their camp.

“We learned from our mistakes, from the mistakes of our comrades. We worked a lot on ourselves, - explains the deputy commander of the special purpose squad of the 17, Aleksey Mineev. - Bandits also changed tactics. If the first campaign had a lot of untrained guys who acted like a regular gang, it was easy to work with them. And after they began to seriously prepare, a lot has changed. For example, I do not remember that in the second war they once fought head-on. They always avoid direct clashes, lead a sabotage war: bitten - ran away. And so constantly "bite." Still. For more than three to five minutes, they do not lead a clash, they immediately leave, dissolving among civilians. Everyone has a passport, all on the legal position. They quietly sleep at home, and we run through the mountains - we are looking for them. It's hard to work now. It used to be clear where the enemy was. Now he is everywhere: left, right, bottom, top. It's hard to work now. But we chose this service ourselves, and we will serve, no matter what. ”
Where Aleksey Mineev appears, everything immediately starts spinning and spinning. In the first place he, of course, combat training. For training, not only the reconnaissance line, built on the personal initiative of Alexei Alexandrovich, is used, but also the relief of the area adjacent to the squad location.
“We have no problems with the natural base,” the officers of the detachment joke, “the climbing wall - the Iron Mountain, the water barrier - the mountain river Podkumok. Through her way to the shooting range, sometimes night marches throw there. Just forty kilometers. We arrange imitation ambushes on the roads. Those who want to serve are interesting to them. ”
In the office of Lieutenant Colonel Mineev - an entire exhibition of cups - subordinates are confident that the victories of the squad at competitions at various levels - this is his personal achievement. He does not allow either soldiers or officers to relax, even on weekends he organizes competitions in shooting, then in hand-to-hand combat.

The sociability and charm of Alexey Mineev often helped him no worse than an automaton. Co-worker Lt. Col. Alexei Tarasenko recalls how in one of the business trips they established contact with local security officials: “In the united group we were given the orientation that if we cooperate with one Chechen structure, it would be much easier for us to work. But it is very difficult to establish contact with this structure. For someone difficult, but not for Alexei Alexandrovich. His knowledge of Caucasian morals, cheerful, charismatic smile produced a magical effect on the Chechen security forces. As a result, they began to work together, and quite successfully. Caucasus for Mineev - home. Here he is like a fish in water, in any republic he will pass for his own ”.
Many Caucasian traditions firmly entered the lifestyle of Lieutenant Colonel Mineev. First of all it concerns the attitude towards parents. “When Lesha comes on vacation,” says Alexander G., “we go for a walk with him, he tells me about the service, sometimes he asks for advice — in a word, we are secret, we dream ... He is my best friend. In general, I am very proud of my children - both of them became military, followed in my footsteps. If it were not for the war, I would be the happiest man ... "
The parents of the Mineev brothers now live in Sergiev Posad near Moscow. The family is well-known here, Lieutenant Colonel Special Forces Alexey Mineev is always welcome, and they keep the memory of his older brother, Dmitri. His name is carved on the granite slab of an Orthodox chapel, erected by residents of the city in honor of the fellow countrymen who died in battle.
At the cemetery in far Nalchik and in the apartment of the Mineev near Moscow, the same portrait of the eldest son. A radiant look of a young handsome warrant officer, who so dreamed of becoming an officer, makes his way through a black and white photo ...

Lt. Col. Mineev gave another vacation. He has already informed his parents about his arrival. Nina G. is taken for pies. Pulls out a wooden dough rolling pin with the inscription "8 Martha." This is the most expensive gift that she received from her son - fifth-grader Lesch Mineev, who had once carved it on a lathe. On the table in the vase already prepared favorite Leshins marmalade sweets ... At home they are waiting for a man for whom, by his own admission, the maroon beret has become a part of the soul and heart, a man who does not just serve in special forces, but lives him who is loyal to the military duty for two - for myself and my brother.

At the moment in the Chechen Republic in the "business trip" mode there are different power units: the FSB, special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (riot police, sobr, etc.), special forces of the Great Patriotic War, etc., to maintain peace, destroy bandit formations, but all measures taken must interact with local forces ... structures (Chechen police, special forces), which also destroy bandits
