Tajikistan and Uzbekistan are anticipating American gifts
The campaign to reduce the size of the US military contingent in Afghanistan, led by the leadership of the United States.
Moreover, this campaign has been conducted for some time now not only in words. In particular, at 2012 year, a reduction in the number of American troops in Afghanistan by more than 98 thousand people has been documented. The information concerns the primary withdrawal of precisely, let's say, manpower. At the same time, the Americans, at least for the next year, do not plan to take weapons with them. Such information could have contributed to the opinion that the United States is ready to transfer a certain percentage of military equipment, navigation systems and small arms. weapons Afghan army. However, the entertaining tour of Lt. Gen. Vincent Brooks, who heads the Central Command of the US Army, for countries such as Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, shed some light on the future plans of the American leadership.
In all likelihood, the American side is not going to leave weapons to the Afghan soldiers due to their fairly obvious contacts with the Taliban, but decides to “donate” them to Dushanbe and Tashkent. At the same time, the gift will obviously not be gratuitous, since it would be hard to imagine gifts from the White House or the Pentagon at all times, and even more so in today's situation. In confirmation of this, one can consider the results of the meeting of General Brooks with the Chief of the General Staff of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Nadirov and the Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan Mr. Berdiev. The results are as follows: Brooks promised to transfer to Dushanbe and Tashkent a large number of reconnaissance, artillery systems, armored vehicles, UAVs, small arms, equipped with night control devices for targets. From Dushanbe and Tashkent, information was received that Brooks "would like to help" the Uzbek and Tajik army in their modernization and further improvement. At the same time, Mr. Brooks’s desire is connected with the opening of military training centers, as well as the deployment of very large military bases in these Central Asian countries.
And now, please tell me if there has already been a similar situation in recent times with similar “gratuitous” assistance from the American side on the territory of other Republics of the former Soviet Union. Shortly before Mikhail Saakashvili’s “well-considered” decision on the attack on South Ossetia, the American servicemen also “helped” to modernize the Georgian army. However, after the operation failed by Saakashvili’s troops, the American officers, who were preparing the Georgian army for “modernization,” spoke of Georgian troops as a rabble that could not be trained.
Apparently, the ideas of "modernization" of the armies of the post-Soviet republics still haunt hot heads in Washington. Now Brooks, executing a command from above, wanted to test the skill of the American military "innovator teachers" in the Tajik and Uzbek armies. On the one hand, this may be a matter of serious concern: they say, the American troops are again trying to impose Russia and arrange another provocation against it. On the other hand, the sympathy of Americans can only be felt. With all due respect to the Uzbek and Tajik servicemen, it is worth noting that these are not the people who can venture into a real confrontation with the army of the Russian Federation. Even foreign independent experts recognize, speaking in diplomatic language, that the army of Tajikistan itself is a poorly integrated formation, in which quite often there is such a phenomenon as overt clan and fragmentation. Apparently, Americans are poorly aware of both the Tajik and the Uzbek mentality. Military training, frankly, is not the strongest side of these peoples. It turns out that the Americans purposefully choose for themselves those who, when they see a strong opponent on the battlefield, immediately turn "to the hut." Or is it just another self-confidence on the part of Washington - they say, even from these “warriors” we will make a legion.
In general, it is difficult to imagine provocations by the Tajik troops against Russia, when the lion's share of the budget of Tajikistan consists of remittances sent by their fellow citizens who work in Moscow. After the incident with the released pilots, it became more than understandable.
But on the other hand, both Tajikistan and Uzbekistan do not want to miss the “lucrative” proposal from Washington. To get new weapons with almost nothing, or almost nothing from the point of view of the Asian "partners" would be a good option. In this situation, you can also attract the attention of the Russian side. Like, you will not invest in us, we will begin to cooperate with the United States - the position for the modern world is quite understandable.
The omniscient website WikiLeaks announced the secret report of one of the American diplomats, which contains the following information: Dushanbe is ready to provide the American military with a base and a number of objects of interest to the Pentagon. At the same time, as the first part of the “pre-New Year's American gift”, the servicemen of the army of Tajikistan received from the Pentagon about three hundred sets of equipment and equipment for quick response units. The former DOSAAF airfield Fakhrabad has already been turned by the Americans into a military base.
In all likelihood, both Karimov and Rakhmon are not averse to participating in a double game, while not paying attention to possible consequences.
