Southern Military District presents a report on weapons received
In 2011, the troops of the Southern Military District received several hundred units of armored vehicles, communication systems and missile systems. This was stated by Colonel Igor Gorbul, head of the press service of the Southern Military District. New equipment put Caspian flotilla and brigades of the North Caucasus region of the Russian Federation.
In particular, in 2011, the coastal missile system "Bal-E" was delivered to the coastal division of the Caspian flotilla. Delivery of the complex was carried out in the framework of the state defense order-2011, according to the program of re-equipment of the Caspian Flotilla. Earlier it was reported that Kaspiysk will be the main location for Bal-E, additional positions will be equipped in the Izberbash area.
Also in 2011, six brigades of the North Caucasus region received more than 250 units of armored vehicles. Among them: MBT T-72BM and T-90, as well as the BTR-82A and BMP-3. This equipment was supplied to the military in North Ossetia, Chechnya, Dagestan, Stavropol Territory and the Volgograd region.
Gorbul also reported that military communications personnel received more than 200 communication complexes based on tracked and wheeled vehicles and approximately two thousand sets of portable communication systems. "More than 230 units of modern samples of self-propelled howitzers 'Msta-S', 'Gvozdika', 'Acacia', anti-tank missile mortars and complexes were put into service with the artillery of the district," the representative of the Southern Military District added.
Flamethrower units received RPO PDM-A Prize, RPO-A Bumblebee, and silent LPO-97 Varna flamethrowers. Since the beginning of 2011 aviation The Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories received 12 Su-27SM3 and Su-30M2 fighters, approximately 20 new Mi-28N Night Hunter helicopters and transport-combat helicopters upgraded Mi-8AMTS.
The fleet of combat vehicles of the Southern Military District to date has been updated to 70%. In the period 2010-2011. the district received over 7000 units of new military equipment and weapons.
