The Russian Defense Ministry is engaged in equipping a temporary airfield for transport aircraft on one of the polar islands of Franz Josef Land, reports MIC with reference to the press service of the department.

In the Arctic, a temporary airfield is being prepared for transport aviation.

“For the first time on the island of Alexandra Land, Franz Josef Land archipelago creates a temporary airfield of seasonal validity with a snow cover for landing aircraft of the Military Transport aviation Russian Air Force, ”said Igor Klimov, spokesman for the press service.

According to him, “the length of the runway of the airfield will be 2,5 km. It will be used to deliver military and cargo to the Arctic. ”

The officer said that the pilots would land at "radio stations with mandatory visual control of the band and only in simple weather conditions."

“Currently, the crew of the Military Transport Aviation has begun practical training for takeoff and landing at the permanently-based airfield in conditions as close as possible to the Arctic,” added Klimov.

A temporary airfield is like "temporary sanctions" ... if need be, maybe permanent ...!

This is an ice airfield. Therefore, temporary. But military transport aircraft does not fly and lands on landing automatically. Drives are good. The main thing is that the strip is cleaned

and only in simple weather conditions
And the weather there is constantly rubbish. Some monk, our Russian, lived a year in the Arctic, and there is a chapel, so he says that he was most depressed by the lack of flowers. Gray sky, white snow, as he did not move off the coils, I do not know.

The word "for the first time" confuses))) He served on Novaya Zemlya 78 - 80 years. So there was an aviation commandant's office at the ZFI, which maintained two lanes in combat readiness as jump airfields, which could be received by both VTA and air defense aircraft, which could intercept the adversary until the TFR launch line over the pole ...

The main thing is that this airfield works. With the revitalization of the Northern Sea Route, its role will be very high. It is a pity, of course, that it will be reliable only under good weather conditions. feel

Such airfields will be needed throughout the Arctic, as It’s painful to build capital aerodromes to build throughout the Arctic territory, especially now.

There is no USSR, but Russia remained as a "duty officer" for the Arctic. It's all right - it's for everyone's sake

I would be perplexed and uncomfortable if there weren’t the current activity of the Russian Federation in the Arctic

The main thing is that the number of take-offs always corresponds to the number of landings in such difficult climatic conditions. Good luck to the guys.

Once upon a time, a separate polar radio-technical regiment of air defense, the 30th radar company, served at the West Siberian Federal District.

. It will be a serious battle.
Giant hydrocarbon reserves are concentrated here, most of which are located in the zone controlled by Russia. And not everyone likes this, including the United States, which also has its own claims to the “black” and “blue” gold of the Arctic.

In addition, there is another aspect of this macroregion - transport. The transportation of goods from Europe to the countries of Southeast Asia via the Northern Sea Route is one third cheaper than the traditional route - through the Suez Canal and the Indian Ocean.

The nuance is that Russia intends to strictly control traffic along the Northern Sea Route, since the risk of environmental damage is quite high on international sea routes. What I mean is the collapse of a tanker with oil in the ice of the Arctic, I think no one needs to explain. However, the United States and some of its allies insist that the movement of ships and vessels along the Northern Sea Route be carried out without any control from Russia.

“Special conditions” for the movement of its vessels in the northern seas have now begun to actively reprimand China. Moreover. To accompany their merchant ships, the Chinese began to design a series of warships, the design of which will allow them to move in the ice. And this means that over time, China, with all its current good relations with Russia, can rely on its military strength as an argument. Therefore, it is obvious that the current military exercises of our country in the Arctic are far from the last.

so I suggest that all Bandera people who were caught in the dombass not be killed, but sent to the Arctic for life-long improvement of the ever-frozen Russian land ....

There was a peculiar beauty in the Karakum and Kyzyl Kum, but I can’t stand the heat, and the North and the Arctic have always been attractive to me. I am very glad that we are there for a long time!

If we restore the network of airfields impregnated with Yeltsin and plundered by Serdyukov, then that would be excellent. And the construction of new airfields will only expand the capabilities of aviation and increase the maneuverability of the Arctic grouping.
