LJ user paaladin writes in his blog: On Sunday, I was taken to the most guarded yard of St. Petersburg, to the base of the special unit “Bastion”. The thing is that a delegation of Chinese comrades arrived in St. Petersburg consisting of the children of the employees of the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China, who died in the line of duty. After the cultural program of the museums and palaces of our city, they went to visit the fraternal ministry to inspect the equipment and weapons used in Russia to protect the rule of law.
I was lucky to be the only photojournalist to attend this event.

Detachment of special purpose "BASTION" in St. Petersburg

01. Of course, the most important thing in the squad car fleet is the BTR-80 with the engine in the 260 HP. and machine gun KPVT 14,5 mm.

02. PCT on 7,62 somewhere from the tower went away, instead of him a lonely gaping hole.

03. At the service of the unit are both Russian and foreign development.

04. For example, this car “Hummer” is valued by security guards for the outstanding characteristics of the audio system which allows in the case of riots to interrupt the noise of the crowd.

05. The explosives division moves on special cars made on the basis of Ford and Gazel minibuses. Inside there are such interesting things as "Reed", "Bumblebee", "Grotto", "Varan".

06. By the way, “Varan” itself is a robotic complex.

07. Unfortunately there was a small epic fail when Robot put on charge a day ago - they forgot to switch the toggle switch on the body, and as a result, the robot refused to turn on. It didn’t work out quickly, it takes a long time to charge. As a result, they showed him to the guests in a motionless state.

08. Remote control robot.

09. Mobile X-ray complex "Bumblebee".

10. Also presented were the unremarkable “Fiat” in which the personnel arrived at the scene of action, and the remarkable “Tiger” about which later ...

11. There was also a diverse collection of small arms used by soldiers of the detachment. Starting from pistols ...

12. ... and ending with sniper and assault weapons.

13. The adult ministry officials accompanying the children on this trip happily inspected the presented weapons samples.

14. Fighter squad explains about the size of the aiming bar. “They drank the fly, son!”

15. Russian security officers also did not deny themselves the pleasure of holding military weapons in their hands and would aim with a closed sight.

16. Connoisseurs easily recognize this wonderful cannon. The quick-release design allows you to covertly deliver it to the place of use, but unfortunately the barrel is quickly peddled and has to be changed frequently.

17. Children from the Chinese delegation listened with interest to a lecture on the perfection of Russian weapons.

18. The size of the components used.

19. The female part of the delegation was particularly interested in wide-bore grenade launchers.

20. The male part of the delegation took this interest stoically.

21. Of particular interest to the Chinese delegation was the Russian Pecheneg machine gun, which allows one person to fight with enemy forces that are many times larger in number.

22. When inspecting technical means of explosives, children were given to try on a helmet from the suit “Grotto” intended for safe work with explosive devices.

23. Genuine interest was also aroused by the domestic armored car “Tiger” used in the fight against the aggressive-minded crowd.

24. Due to the wide wheelbase and large weight, these cars are used to block the streets and block unauthorized rallies. “A mob of rage simply cannot turn over such a car,” a detachment official said.

25. At the end of the inspection, everyone approached the main thing in this exposition - an armored personnel carrier.

26. I’m sitting on armor, rented ... and then they break all the way up.

27. It turned out that it was traditional for such events photos on armored vehicles. And I was scared, I thought - it began!

28. At the end of the visit, there was a minute of silence at the stella dedicated to the memory of OMON fighters killed in the line of duty.

29. The members of the delegation handed employees of the detachment a memorial sign depicting the emblem of their ministry.

30. Before boarding the bus, the goodbye delegation was photographed against the background of the squad symbol.
