The attacks continue to claim the lives of the Syrians, and the Belt of the Virgin Mary returned to Homs
Consequences of the activities of terrorists in Homs
Syrian Defense Minister Fahed Jassem Al-Freijj visited the city of Mleha, recently liberated by the army, in the province of Damascus. He highly appreciated the exploits of the soldiers and conveyed greetings and thanks to them from the head of state Bashar Al-Assad.
While the army liberates cities, the bandits from the so-called “opposition” continue to avenge the civilian population. 17 August in Damascus was shot from a mortar sports hall in the Al-Adawi. One citizen died, 22 injured. Another seven people were injured in the shelling of George Hury and Abbasiin Squares.
In the second largest Syrian city of Aleppo, one projectile exploded on Sabah Bahrat Square, the second on the market in the Khalidia quarter. These terrorist crimes took the lives of six people. 32 civilians sent to hospitals.
Unfortunately, the gangsters seek to extend the war to other areas of the country, including those in which the peaceful life so far continues. One of these corners of the world so far has been the province of Suweida, where the Druze mostly resides. Now terrorists have attacked two villages of this province - Dame and Arica. The attackers arrived from the south of Syria - from the province of Daraa. Nine people died. At least 30 Syrians were injured. The leaders of the Druze communities expressed a sharp rejection of such actions of the bandits.
The day before, on August 16, the city of Jaramana in the province of Damascus was attacked by “oppositionists” - 14 people were injured, including four children.
Even more disturbing messages come from the east of Syria. Of course, information from a source such as the London-based Human Rights Observatory is extremely unreliable. Previously, this organization was repeatedly seen in fraud directed against the legitimate government of Syria. But this time, the “observatory” pays attention to the atrocities of the militants, whose activities it initially supported. Thus, according to her, in the province of Deir ez-Zor, the terrorists of the “Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant” executed around 700 a man from the Al-Sheyiat tribe living in these territories. The conflict between Islamists and local residents arose from the fact that there are sources of oil on this land.
Meanwhile, the UN Security Council on the night of 15 on August 16 unanimously voted in favor of a resolution against terrorists operating in Iraq and Syria. Of course, this document is not as categorical as it should be. There is no clear definition of ISIL as a terrorist organization - apparently, in this case too many forces would have to be responsible for supplying the militants weapons. Nevertheless, it is a definite, though not too radical, step in the fight against the financing and arming of militants operating in these two countries of the Middle East. The resolution implies sanctions against six individuals linked to ISIS. It also contains instructions to fight the flow of “jihadists” from Europe, who come to Syria and Iraq with the aim of creating crimes.
During the session, the UN Security Council was addressed by the UAR Permanent Representative Bashar Al-Jafari, who spoke positively about this resolution. He recalled that Syria, leading a grueling fight against terrorism, repeatedly sent messages to the UN with important information about specific crimes. Unfortunately, most of these letters were ignored. If they were treated with due attention, the situation, according to the diplomat, would not have reached such a critical point.
Then, at a press conference following the session, the Syrian representative to the UN emphasized: “The position of the West has changed, because its own security is under threat.”
The matter now remains for the proper implementation of the adopted resolution by all parties in the world. In case, if the provocations continue, it will lead to unpredictable consequences that will affect far beyond the borders of Syria and Iraq and will hit the West and Washington, making a bloody mess in the East.
In Syria, a major positive event occurred - in the city of Homs, in the famous ancient temple of Umm Al Zunnar, the ancient shrine - the Belt of the Virgin, which was stored there for several centuries, was returned. In early 2012, when areas of the Homs Old Town were captured by “opposition” terrorists, the relic was saved only at the last moment. Otherwise, it would be defiled or stolen and sold for a lot of money, as was done with many historical values of Syria. Now, after the liberation of this part of Homs from terrorists, the shrine has taken its rightful place in the temple.
