The Estonian Ministry of Defense announced a new plan for the development of national defense, suggesting an increase in defense expenditures by 66,2 by the 2022 year. According to this document, the country's defense spending will increase from 361,3 million euros in 2013 to 600,7 million euros in 2022. The main objective of the plan is to maintain a high level of combat readiness of the troops.
Despite the increase in military expenditures, their share in GDP will practically not increase and will be two percent throughout the decade. This parameter will remain unchanged due to the growth of the Estonian economy, which, according to the forecast of the country's finance ministry, will be 5,3-6,4 percent per year from 2013 to 2022 per year. Within ten years, the Estonian Ministry of Defense intends to create two infantry brigades of high combat readiness.
