The Pentagon admitted that the fifth-generation fighter-bomber F-35 is not ready not only for combat missions - it is not ready at all

What just did not happen. And now the trouble is completely - it refuses to pick up not only that to fly - to take off in cold weather. The Department of Defense Testing and Evaluation Department of the United States presented a report that was published on 6 in March, although it was brought to the attention of the US Congress in February. According to the results of research and testing fighter can not operate normally. Serious problems with the view from the cockpit were revealed (which is interesting, why it became clear only now ?!), permanent equipment failures were detected at temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius and many other shortcomings.

According to the information presented in the report, the F-35 has the worst view from the cockpit of all the aircraft in service with the US Air Force. The creators of the fighter claimed that the innovative display helmet would allow the pilot to "see through the cockpit." But real flights have clearly demonstrated that it is impossible to do without a regular review, and the new fighter is too small.

One of the pilots involved in the trials said that in the event of close combat with the use of F-35 guns, "they will always be shot down." Different pilots expressed the opinion that insufficient review does not allow the use of the F-35 for full-fledged training of pilots.

The report revealed a number of critical flaws, including potential failures of the ejection system on first-series aircraft, lack of protection against lightning and problems with the interface of the control system, which, as noted in the report, “does not give confidence that the pilot will be able to safely perform critical operations” .

According to the authors of the report, the plane can be used to train pilots-cadets to take off, land, and fly as part of a link with other F-35 and F-16 during the day in clear weather, but it is not suitable for combat exercises. At the same time, it is noted that the trainee can safely control the aircraft only in subsonic mode (according to the calculated characteristics, it must reach speeds in 1,6 mach, 1900 km / h).

Problems with a computerized helmet were the main cause of most of the interrupted F-35 takeoffs. Experts have identified other problems with the reliability and maintainability of the aircraft. For example, it turned out that the plane should be kept in a heated hangar, because at temperatures below -15 degrees Celsius, the F-35 computer systems repeatedly refused to start due to the fact that the power control unit was not designed for cold.

"The incompleteness of the aircraft, the need to constantly choose workarounds for the flight procedures and the extremely limited capabilities of the internal systems do not allow us to evaluate the suitability of the F-35 for training as part of a squadron (squadron) and participation in battles," the report concludes.

The F-35 fighter as an alternative to the more expensive fifth-generation fighter project, the F-22, has been developed by Lockheed Martin since 2001. The first flight of this fighter made in 2006 year. The US plans to put it into service in the 2016 year and purchase at least 600 units. The US military wants to replace the obsolete combat aircraft A-10 "Thunderbolt", F-16, AV-8b "Harrier" and F / a-18.

In fact, the Americans put on one horse, trying to replace the aircraft of completely different types and purposes with one universal machine in three versions. An almost impossible task, which has been repeatedly written here (for example -"The plane is good. Only he is afraid to fly" и "Not a plane. Testers found a lot of problems with the F-35 fighter"). The results of such an adventure were obvious 3-4 a year ago. First of all, the impossibility of creating an effective universal and fabulous value.

As a result, military observers have to admit that the F-35 is the most expensive rearmament program history USA. The cost of one aircraft is from 197 to 237 million dollars (initially 80-90 million was planned). However, it turned out that, despite the money spent, the fighter does not meet the stated characteristics. Also this aircraft was pursued by technical problems. For example, at the end of February 2013, a crack was discovered in the turbine blades of one of the aircraft’s engines, due to which the F-35 test flights were interrupted for a week.

In any case, the US Air Force now does not have to choose. Despite punitive measures in relation to Lockheed-Martin (at the beginning of the year, the US Department of Defense punished the corporation with the 600 million dollar premium, which it kept for delaying the program), the dismissal of Pentagon officials, the growing awareness that the plane was losing and “golden”, there are no other options. The old F-15 and F-16 will soon be massively written off, and will not fly on anything. Therefore, the plans will be shipped, but the F-35 will be brought to the series.

PSIsrael buys these planes only because, under the terms of American economic assistance, it must spend it on American weapons. In fact, so much American weapons Israel simply does not need, and it has to buy goods only nominally for military purposes, for example, food for the military.

A good picture, if only we could make such mini-copies of Su and MiGs and place them in all cities, at military registration and enlistment offices, museums, maybe even some schools. Good patriotic education, and then a continuous shortage in the army and a lack of pilots

          Microsoft has signed a contract
with the US military to develop
          software for new species
          weapons.
          From the Internet

01.04.2002, 4: 30. Saudi Arabia. US Air Force Base.
Lieutenant John Falcon for the last time waved his hand to his comrades and
climbed into the cabin. A sense of pride filled him. Why, he
such an honor is true! He learned about this from General Break, who
said: "You have been entrusted with a great honor, Lieutenant. You will perform the first
first combat mission on the latest top-secret aircraft F-22M. "" 'M'
means 'modified'? "- said Falcon." 'M' means
"Microsoft," the general replied. -The plane is completely re-equipped-
van by these guys. They claim that now combat missions can
carry out any But for the first time we chose you as
one of our best pilots. You will have to destroy Iraq
nuclear center. "" You can send condolences to Saddam already
          now, sir, "answered Falcon.
The lieutenant habitually snapped the belts and only then noticed
that the dashboard is noticeably different from the standard. Appliances
it became smaller, but in the vacated place there was a two-button
naya mouse, somehow metal. Falcon shrugged and turned on
          Chill general nutrition.
On a transparent frontal screen, against the background of the opening from the cockpit
sky with rare clouds, the inscription appeared: Microsoft Winwars
2002. Then engines started working by themselves, and descended into
takeoff position of the flaps. "Congratulations on your purchase
Winwars 2002! - said the screen. -Now the war will become much more-
more convenient, your kill rate will decrease, and your target hit rate
growing! Tip of the day: lower the landing gear before landing. "
“Eagle-1, takeoff allowed,” rang at the headset.
“I haven't asked for it yet,” Falcon said.
-And you don't need to. Plug'n'Play, - explained the ground control.
The aircraft, rapidly gaining speed, rushed along the strip and
Ro was already in the air. "Winwars 2002 will now install
otsion of your ammunition for the chosen target, the system said. -Select-
early target: Iraqi nuclear center. "Falcon, for the sake of interest, click
zero on the "change" button and saw a long list in which the
and other facilities around the world featured the White House and base, with
which he just took off. Falcon hurriedly pressed cancel.
          "Select the type of installation:
Minimum - only bombs will be dropped on the object.
Normal - bombs and missiles will be dropped on the object.
Full - the entire plane will be dropped on the object "
By default, the system offered the second option, and Folcon, fear-
in glancing at the third, I decided not to argue with her.

Your machine will now be tested for performance.
Close your eyes to avoid damage when changing modes.
Engines roared in the afterburner, and Falcon's eyes were really barely
did not jump out of their orbits from a monstrous overload. The real hell has begun: the plane
threw in all directions, he broke down into steep peaks and laid the unthinkable
bends ... Finally, the lieutenant came to his senses; the darkness before my eyes vanished
and he saw the mouse wandering around the cabin again falling into place.
You are using a Lockheed F-22 aircraft with two Pratt-Whitney engines, -
calmly informed the system. - Maximum speed of 1451 miles per hour.
Tip of the day: do not increase the turbine clock speed above a value
specified by the manufacturer. Estimated installation time is 0:34:16.
Same day, 4: 52. The sky over Iraq.
At the bottom of the screen, a blue bar with percentages slowly crawled.
The system meanwhile advertised Winwars for tanks, submarines
and marines, and also promised everyone who acquired the version
free applet "Kamikaze 1.01" for planes. Change pictures
acted on Folkon soporific; from a drowsiness state
it was brought out by the sound of a buzzer. A green dot glowed on the radar.
New device discovered: enemy aircraft! "-
            joyfully informed the system.
Falcon already wanted to perform a standard combat
turn, but then I noticed the "Delete" button and clicked on it with the mouse.
“Are you sure you want to remove the enemy’s plane?” -
            the system suspiciously inquired.
            - Still would! Falcon clicked "Yes." An Iraqi fighter jet has disappeared from radar.
            - So fast? - the lieutenant was surprised. - Well, Microsoft gives! -
He even respectfully began to study what appeared on the screen.
Winwars ads for disabled pilots, however from this lesson
he was distracted by a rocket flying over the cabin itself.
Folkon turned in disbelief and saw an Iraqi interceptor.
            - Well you, your mother ... - Folkon exclaimed and only then he saw,
that from the inconspicuous RecycleBin icon in the corner of the screen sticks a drawn
the tail of the plane. The lieutenant fiercely clicked on the icon and pressed clear.
            - Are you sure you want to physically remove the enemy’s aircraft?
Its restoration will be impossible. - warned the system.
            - YES! snapped Folcon, hammering a mouse. Sidewinder fell from under the wing
and, leaving a white fluffy footprint, rushed towards the interceptor.
An explosion flashed, and the burning debris of the enemy machine flew to the ground.
However, it was too early to calm down.
A flashing sound warned of a new danger.

              - New device discovered: surface-to-air missile! "-
told the system and fell into thought.
In vain Falcon pounded the mouse, looking like an ominous point
creeps to the center of the radar. Finally, the system came out of a stupor:
              - I can not find a driver for this device.
Insert the driver disk and click OK.
With a curse, Falcon pressed Search.
              - Closest matching: hand grenades, -
              pleased his system. - Apply?
Folkon pulled the handle aside, retreating into a missile defense.
Too late. The plane shuddered from the explosion. With difficulty withdrawing
damaged car from a dive, the pilot clicked on the "System" button.
Under the line "Left wing", yellow trigolniks shone
with exclamation marks "Aileron" and "Flap", but otherwise
he got off cheaply. The blue streak that kept crawling below
already showed 82%, and he still had chances to complete the task.
The radar showed two more enemy aircraft,
but they rose behind and Folkon was not particularly bothered.
He knew that this Iraqi junk just did not catch up with the super-fast F-22.
However, the planes were approaching. Folcon with bewilderment
looked at the speedometer and realized that its speed is rapidly falling
              - What the hell?! - exclaimed the lieutenant. -
The engines are in order and full of fuel!
The screen meanwhile began to fiercely blink
image of an hourglass. The hands of the instruments moved in short jerks, froze for a long time in one position.
              - Not enough free memory, -
the system descended to an explanation. - Unload unnecessary tasks.
Falcon called up a list of tasks, trying to understand what type names mean.
winppl or v666apl and which ones are superfluous. Meanwhile, the engines were almost silent,
speed dropped to critical: just a little bit - and the plane will crash down.
Stunned by such tactics of aerial combat, the Iraqis whizzed past, one on the left,
the other on the right, and, without leaving the stupor, collided in front of Falcon's nose.
The lieutenant, meanwhile, found the line "Tracking the enemy" in the list,
next to which in parentheses it was written: "[Not responding]", and clicked "OK".
The radar screen went blank, but the plane began to pick up speed again.
The blue bar already showed 99% ... now, finally, 100.
Folkon looked at the earth in bewilderment: the desert below did not resemble at all
on satellite photographs of the nuclear center he studied. She seemed to understand that.
and the system, because after the number 100% appeared 101 ... then 102 ...
On 106, the screen flooded with blue, and an inscription appeared:
              - Error 000000e caused by the VXD0000 (0) module from the VXD0000 (0) module.
Perhaps a normal continuation of the flight. You can click eject
to bail out, or any other key to continue.
Attention: during bailout you will lose all unsaved aircraft.

no longer standing, the lieutenant prepared to carry out the bombing by hand.
He drove the plane, waiting until the marking of the guidance system
superimposed on the target. There is! Falcon pressed a button.
Something scraped through and a new message popped up:
                - The bomb bomb has performed an illegal operation and will be closed.
With a curse, Falcon pulled the handle towards himself, again
steer the car up. But the plane continued to decline rapidly. The lieutenant frantically fumbled on the menus, looking for
                reason.
                - The joystick is not detected. he read at last.

                - Press any key to start checking the integrity of the aircraft.
                - To hell! Falcon barked, pressing Cancel.
Winwars 2002 splash screen has appeared; the system slowly started to boot.
Hundreds of meters remained to the ground.
“The system is booted in safe mode,” the screen finally told.
                - In this mode, the functions of flight and use of weapons are disabled,
you can only drive around the airfield. "
Realizing that he had no time to do anything else, Falcon blasted "Eject",
waiting for the cockpit cap to be shot now, and then a mighty blow from below
will throw him into the air. But instead, another question appeared on the screen:
Are you sure you really want to eject?
                - YES!!! - Falcon shouted heartily, looking at the land rushing towards him.
                - Wait, preparations are underway for the bailout ", -
calmly informed the system and plunged into thought ...

To launch An-2 in winter, it must be thoroughly warmed up. Hot air to the cylinders. And it is better not to add oil to the tank in the evening. And add hot stuff after warming up. The cold ASh-62IR (but if only the screw can be manually rotated before starting) is started "in four hands.) First, with the left hand, we pull out the starter trigger to spin the flywheel. When the flywheel has gained the required speed, then press on it with our left foot so that the flywheel begins to rotate the crankshaft." engine shaft Left hand is now injecting fuel by direct injection The right hand moves the throttle lever back and forth, and the right leg below pumps the fuel pump lever.
It won't start the first time. And you need to be careful not to flood the candles. But if the engine "sneezed", then you need to wait for about the time you smoke a cigarette. And try again. It will be possible to run in most cases.

.. The Lyulka Science and Technology Center, a branch of the Saturn Scientific and Production Association, is developing a pulsating air-jet engine. This, as reported by ITAR-TASS, said the managing director of "Saturn" Ilya Fedorov. Development is being carried out in parallel with the project of a promising second stage engine ("Product 129") for the T-50 fighter (PAK FA). According to Fedorov, Saturn itself is working on "promising aircraft for the next stage," which may be unmanned. Fedorov did not elaborate on the development of what kind of pulsating engine is in question. Currently, there are three types of pulsating engines - valve, valveless and detonation. The principle of operation of these power plants consists in the periodic supply of fuel and oxidizer to the combustion chamber, where the fuel mixture is ignited and the combustion products flow out from the nozzle with the formation of jet thrust. The pulsating motor is believed to be simple and cheap to manufacture.
A pulsating jet engine was invented at the end of the 19th century by the Swedish engineer Martin Wiberg. The new power plant was developed during World War II and was serially used on German V-1 cruise missiles. The argus As-014 engine manufactured by Argus-Werken was installed on these rockets. The power plant was inferior in its characteristics to the aircraft engines already available at the time, but was cheap and easy to manufacture.
Currently, several large defense companies in the world are engaged in research in the field of creating highly efficient pulsating jet engines. In particular, the work is carried out by the French company SNECMA and the American General Electric and Pratt & Whitney.

Than riveting one station wagon, it is much more logical to make 3 specialized machines with a high unification of units and assemblies. Firstly, the operation of specialists will be cheaper, and secondly, they will perform their tasks much better than generalists, and interchangeability of nodes will give a gain in serial production.

The effectiveness of these long-range missiles against fighters is doubtful. But in general, the presence of such missiles is an advantage for me, I can’t argue with this. Although, so far, not one fighter except the Su-35 is capable of detecting targets at such ranges. barely noticeable ...
They have superiority in medium-range missiles. They always drove guided bombs. Their planes can carry the KR (JASSM) - we still don’t see an analogue for them, they will make an MB caliber for planes, and that is a dark horse.
I wrote above about other strengths of the F-35 in comparison with our aircraft, but all sorts of "s" minus the comments, and there is nothing to answer.

At the same time, do not forget to give them my word of honor: just a little bit (some kind of miserable 70-80 billion) and it will begin to fly more or less normally. Yes, for that kind of money, even Zimbabwe with the technological support of Burkina Faso would have already created a kind of analogue of the F-35.

F-35B (modification of F-35 with GDP) is very close to the Yak-141 in design and layout. It also uses a combined power plant (1 PMD + 1 lift fan), a compartment with a lift fan (it performs the same function as the PD on the Yak) is also located behind the cockpit, and the lift-sustainer engine nozzle is also covered by tail beams although their length is less. The PMD nozzle design completely uses the idea first embodied in the P79B-300 (segments rotating in opposite directions) [20]. This happened because in the mid-1990s, the F-35 development company, Lockheed Martin, collaborated for a short time with Yakovlev Design Bureau [67]. According to some reports, in 1995, Yakovlevites, with the permission of the Russian government, sold the Americans all the documentation for the Yak-38 and Yak-141 [49]. Our back in 90 with a full load, he then drove the documentation to Amers, but they still cannot bring these to completion.

At the moment, a series of 54 aircraft (a small series by American standards) for military operation tests has been manufactured, what is written in this article is essentially the result of military operation tests. The fact that the jambs come out when testing a new aircraft is almost always and everywhere. PAK FA and I have not yet reached military exploitation.
But what I agree with is the fact that the F-35 is not very suitable for close combat.

So do not waste time. The Americans seem to be bogged down with their aircraft for many years, and with sales, with all their capabilities to impose their weapons, they do not succeed. yet Obama took the budget sequester, so better nowhere!

Obama is generally our "friend, comrade and brother." The Obama administration is slashing national defense spending. As a result, the Pentagon must restrict its purchases for cheaper planes that are subsidized by foreign allies. Cost, not capability, is currently the driving factor in the US aircraft buying program.

It is unlikely that the F-35 will be able to break through to the target on their own. Most likely, the F-22 and F-18 will first have to establish air superiority before the F-35 can simply act as a dump truck for transporting bombs .. Each F-22 has the processing power of two super-computers, stealth technologies, and allows the pilot to aim on the enemy’s aircraft through the helmet-mounted visor. In training battles with other US aircraft, the F-22 was dominant.

there is still infa they have a mess with a radar

The network has a report to Congress by Michael Gilmore, director of the Pentagon's Test and Evaluation Department (DOT & E), on the fifth-generation F-35 fighter.

The author of the report concludes that the decision to start training for US flight schools on the F-35 is "premature." This year, the US Air Force will train 35 pilots and 72 mechanics to handle the F-711.

Gilmore argues that until the many shortcomings of the new aircraft are addressed, there is nothing to teach pilots. He writes: "The limitations, 'patches', temporary solutions of this system make learning on it meaningless."

The report said that aircraft radar, a helmet display, and a cockpit interface that controls radio and navigation systems need to be improved.

The report said that the F-35 is impossible to fly at night or in the clouds. An ejection system has not been tested on the aircraft and a lightning protection system has not been installed.

Pilots who have tested the aircraft write that in close combat conditions it turns into a "flying target" - due to the limitations of the pilot's field of view both in the bow and in the stern of the aircraft. One of them states: "In close air combat the F-35 has no chance."

AESA radar raises particular criticism: "The radar system demonstrates flaws that reduce the ability to survive in combat and even affect flight safety. Problems with the radar begin with the fact that it suddenly" freezes "and stops responding to pilot commands, stops showing targets, suddenly loses targets, or "slows down" in tracking targets. " Military analysts suggest that the nature of the problems identified is indicative of software flaws.

35 billion dollars have already been spent on the creation of the F-396. The adoption of the F-35 in service with the American army is seven years behind the schedule. Israel intends to buy dozens of F-35 aircraft in order to replace the obsolete F-16 fighters of early modifications with them.

The cost of one aircraft - from 197 to 237 million dollars
, the author doesn’t give a damn about all the statements that this is the price of the first aircraft and with serial production the price will be less than 100 million. Already in LRIP5 the price is 107 million without an engine.
Constant equipment failures were detected at temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius and many other shortcomings.
I am reading the report "Overnight temperatures below 59 degrees Fahrenheit, the design minimum temperature

But the vaunted E-copters do not fly at -20 C, they stand in hangars, and our Mi-8 and Mi-2 rumble themselves quietly, smoke, stink of kerosene, engines rumble, but they carry people and frost to them from vinta.Vot somehow came out a comparison of OUR and theirs aircraft.

The Americans have always proven to parliamentarians twenty, thirty, and forty years ago that Soviet/Russian military equipment and weapons are better. And they always received additional resources. But now is the time of globalization. And there has been a collision of two information flows: the first, aimed at knocking out funds from the budget, and the second, promoting goods on world markets.
But we cannot remain complacent; we need to assume that everything is going well for the Americans, so that we can be prepared if something happens.

I agree, despite the fact that the program to create one type of universal aircraft for all occasions was wrong from the very beginning, as, indeed, were all previous attempts to create universal types of weapons (not only aircraft but everything else), both in the United States and their allies have no choice but to stall for time to bring this program to its logical conclusion. Too much money was spent on it by all participants in the program for it to simply be wasted, although all the “participants” have long realized that the program does not bring any benefit other than harm. In particular, betting on one type of aircraft and one company ruins competition in the Western aviation industry and therefore leads to its degeneration. Therefore, you have to put on a good face when playing poorly in the hope that the brainchild of this program, F35, will quietly die on its own and everything will return to normal. Moreover, then all the sins can be attributed to those who are no longer in power, kicking their political corpses underfoot and begging for new money for new “hardware”.

They will fly the F-35, the US fighter and strike aircraft fleet will soon exhaust its service life, the development of a new aircraft will take at least 10-15 years, but they are not there. So the Americans will most likely experience the fifth generation with the F-35. Not everything there is as bad as we would like.
