Got caught in the propellers: footage of a collision between two helicopters during a parade rehearsal in Malaysia is shown

Two military helicopters from the country's Royal Armed Forces have crashed in Malaysia. As a result of the aircraft collision, 10 military personnel were killed.

The tragedy occurred during a rehearsal for a parade to be held in honor of the 90th anniversary of the country's Royal Navy. The helicopter crews rehearsed demonstration flights, but an error in the control of the aircraft cost their crews too dearly.

Footage of a collision between two Malaysian helicopters in the air has appeared on the Internet. Both helicopters caught on their rotors, then collided and fell. In the published footage, we see how helicopters fly up to each other, find themselves at too close a distance, after which they touch each other with their rotors and begin to fall.

Now the competent authorities are continuing to investigate all the circumstances of the incident. But here it is already clear that such a situation could have been the result of an error by the crew of one of the helicopters or the crews of both aircraft. The level of flight training of pilots will probably be checked more carefully aviation units of the Royal Malaysian Armed Forces.

Similar situations have previously occurred in other countries. For example, in 2015, a private helicopter and a Cessna seaplane collided over the Istra Reservoir, resulting in the death of nine people.

Helicopter crashes often occur due to the fact that during landing or takeoff, aircraft cling to tall trees, power lines, and collide with other flying objects in the air.
