“Lavender” and “Gospel”: Jewish genocide
The end justifies the means
The ongoing action of retaliation by the Israeli army is becoming similar to the genocide of the Arabs of the Gaza Strip. According to official data alone, the IDF killed at least 34 thousand residents of the enclave - that's about 32 people for every Israeli killed in October last year. The casualty ratio is impressive, and there is no reason to believe that the Israeli military will stop.
Much of the responsibility for the mass deaths of civilians is placed on artificial intelligence (AI), which Israel has long used. With varying degrees of success, it should be noted. On the border with the Gaza Strip, machine intelligence was responsible for surveillance and threat recognition. As is known, the greater failure in stories there was no Israeli defense until October 7, 2023. Apparently, the time has come for the rehabilitation of AI. The time for this action came quickly enough.
The narrowest issue in any military operation is not even the technological level or the number of weapons of the warring parties, but intelligence and the speed of decision-making. The human mind is not capable of quickly processing huge amounts of data about intended targets. Here you either hit squares or try to hit with high precision weapons at random. The Israeli army tried to compensate for the described deficiency with the help of AI, creating the “Lavender” and “Gospel” programs.
The “effectiveness” of Israeli combat AI is shocking. Before the help of machine intelligence, for every high-ranking Hamas official killed, several dozen civilians in the Gaza Strip were killed—this was considered acceptable collateral damage. Once the Gospel got involved, for every terrorist killed, a hundred or more civilians were killed. Israeli intelligence officers, on condition of anonymity, tell +972 Magazine about the deliberate murder of civilians. This is not the accidental death of an ordinary person who was in the wrong place at the wrong time - this is a carefully planned destruction.
According to AI, the end justifies the means in any case. If to destroy the next field commander you have to bomb an entire block, then so be it. This is what we have been observing in the Gaza Strip for more than six months.
From the latter, when dismantling the ruins of the Nasser medical center, almost three hundred bodies, including women and children, were discovered. The Israelis struck at it back in February, based on the advice of “Gospel” and “Lavender”. Excavation of the giant mass grave began after the withdrawal of the IDF 98th Division from the territory.
On the one hand, terrorists are clearly committing a war crime, hiding from retribution behind the backs of civilians.
On the other hand, the command commits no less a crime, deliberately killing hundreds of innocents for the sake of one “ace of the cross.”
The fact that the Israelis' sensitivity threshold has seriously decreased after October 7 last year is also evidenced by the abandonment of the “knock on the roof” tactic. Before Iron Swords, the Israeli Air Force, when planning a strike on a target, would first drop a small charge on the roof, informing locals that the building was being demolished. Now they are passing by without humanitarian warnings, fearing that Hamas militants will retreat along with the civilians.
In general, the general rhetoric in Israel is aimed at further dehumanizing the residents of the Gaza Strip. The issue of the imperfection of the Geneva Convention, which prohibits the killing of non-combatants, has been repeatedly raised. They say that in the Gaza Strip the line between a militant and an innocent civilian is so illusory that everyone needs to be killed - in the sky they will figure out who is coming from where. Officially, the position reads as “relaxing the criteria for causing harm to Palestinian civilians.” The conscious use of “Gospel” and “Lavender” is a logical continuation of this thesis.
Focus is on damage rather than accuracy
Artificial intelligence works with an extensive information base, both from Israeli intelligence, and processes data from social networks, from cellular operators, photo and video materials from the battlefields. According to sources in the Israeli army, tens of thousands of intelligence officers could not have done comparable work.
In the IDF, work with AI is handled by the Targets Administration Department, which has several hundred employees. In 2021, as soon as “Gospel” was launched, the system generated up to hundreds of goals per day every day. For comparison, before this, Israeli intelligence officers barely issued a hundred target designations a year. Needless to say, the Jews now have a powerful instrument of war.
The Gospel and Lavender goals are ranked into four categories.
The first includes completely legitimate military targets - weapons and ammunition depots, missile launchers, observation posts, etc.
In second place are numerous underground targets that literally permeate the entire Gaza Strip. The systematic and total destruction of tunnels cannot but destroy residential buildings - some of the passages are located under cities.
The third targets for the Israeli Air Force relate to civilian infrastructure, by destroying which Jerusalem is trying to set civilians against Hamas activists. With this motivation, the Israelis bomb banks, schools, universities and government buildings.
The IDF demolished the Islamic University of Gaza, the Palestinian Bar Association, the building of the Palestinian Telecommunications Company, the Ministry of National Economy, the Ministry of Culture, etc. While the first two goals of the bombing can be called achieved at a stretch, then absolutely nothing is achieved with the pressure on civilians.
Finally, category five targets include the family homes of Hamas activists. Considering the number of relatives living under the same roof with the Arabs, the sacrifice of such attacks is simply off the charts.
“Gospel” and “Lavender,” although they are elements of the same system, are seriously different in the nature of target designation. The first directly directs the military to buildings and structures with suspected militants inside. “Lavender” forms a list of Hamas activists, thereby signing their death warrant. Working with lists of the 2,7 million population of the Gaza Strip, artificial intelligence gives each resident an individual rating of involvement in terrorists on a 100-point scale.
How does this happen?
The machine is pre-loaded with personal profiles of hundreds of actual Hamas militants. Moreover, no characteristic parameters are initially introduced into the AI - “Lavender” itself determines a typical portrait of a terrorist and will drive millions of Palestinians through the created template. Beauty, and that's all! A bit reminiscent of the racial hygiene of the Third Reich, but everything is fine.
Before the start of “Iron Swords,” Israeli intelligence tested the AI systems quite closely and it turned out that a couple of algorithms worked correctly in 9 out of 10 cases. Therefore, it was decided to equate Lavender’s recommendations with the orders of the military command. You just need to check first to see if a woman is indicated as a target. Actually, this is where human intervention in the decision-making process on liquidation ends. If there is a man in the file, then we shoot without thinking.
In this regard, an interesting effect emerged.
When Lavender, based on its algorithms, forms a list of terrorists, small fry inevitably appear among them, on which the Israeli army does not intend to waste high-precision and expensive ammunition. Therefore, after checking with the Gospel about the location of buildings with targets, the Israelis bombard them with free-falling bombs. With a completely predictable effect, given the population density in the Gaza Strip.
In Israel, such goals are called “garbage.” Artificial intelligence was eventually allowed to programmatically kill up to 15–20 civilians if at least one Hamas militant was killed.
And now a little about the effectiveness of AI
Let's fast forward a little to the 14th day of the IDF operation in the Gaza Strip. “Gospel” and “Lavender” simply bombard the command with targets. Still, the number of potential terrorists exceeds 37 thousand. Bombi - I don't want to. And the Jews bombed. But the performance is not impressive. Israeli journalist Avi Issacharov writes:
By April 2024, the situation had not changed fundamentally. Israel continues to methodically destroy the civilian population of the Gaza Strip. And machine intelligence leads him by the hand.
But Hamas continues to live.
