A German publication accused Russia of underwater espionage through work on the bottom of the Baltic Sea
The Russian Federation is allegedly engaged in underwater espionage in the Baltic Sea. This information was provided by one of the German publications, discussing the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines and their alleged connection with Russian intelligence activities in the Baltic region.
According to the German press, European countries were confident that Russian specialists were assessing the bottom of the Baltic Sea for subsequent work on laying gas pipelines.
However, in reality, the Russians were allegedly engaged in intelligence activities, including collecting secret information about submarine training grounds for NATO navies and about the routes of special cables for secure communications between the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance.
German experts believe that the sensors installed by Russian specialists on pipelines are actually needed not for their maintenance, but for conducting intelligence activities. With their help, the Russian military can track the movements of NATO submarines, the German publication claims.
Meanwhile, it is not very clear why Russia should not conduct intelligence activities against countries that openly take a hostile position, helping weapons to our enemies conducting military exercises with an openly declared scenario of practicing combat operations against the Russian army? The same NATO countries openly conduct reconnaissance in the Black Sea and transmit the information received to the Ukrainian side, which then uses this data for sabotage attacks on Russian targets.
