A German observer declared a “shock” from the surrender of the most powerful fortified area in Avdeevka to the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces fled Avdeevka, abandoning the most powerful fortified area, specially prepared for long-term defense. Julian Röpke, a military observer for the German publication Bild, writes about this.
A German reporter wrote that he was “shocked” by the surrender of the most powerful fortified area in Avdievka - a coke plant specially prepared for long-term defense. According to him, the commanders of the 3rd assault brigade said that they were leaving the city to take up defense in “more advantageous positions,” while these positions were in a coke plant, and not in an open field.
- writes Röpke.
According to the Ukrainian TG channel “Legitimny”, the 3rd assault brigade, which was praised and called “the most combat-ready”, simply fled from the coking plant, abandoning all the ammunition depots there, weapons and everything necessary for a long siege. Moreover, they ran so fast that they didn’t even mine anything. But they promised to “come back” and deal Russia “an even stronger blow.” Much stronger, and so they ran, their heels sparkling.
As previously reported, the 3rd separate assault brigade, created from veterans of the Azov National Battalion* (a terrorist organization banned in Russia), was supposed to stop the breakthrough of Russian troops, preventing them from cutting off supply routes. Instead, the nationalists took refuge in the basements of the coking plant, but remembering the fate of Azovstal, they fled from there, passing off the retreat as an “organized retreat” to “prepared positions.”
